I have synced a few TV shows and Movies to my iPhone 7 Plus, they are impossible to watch on my commute to work and back. The volume with my AirPods is so bad! All I can hear is the subway train and people talking at its highest volume. Music sounds fine and all other apps are ok. I have adjusted the sync quality for audio and tired to use volume boost (does absolutely nothing). I pay for PlexPass purely for this feature and am considering cancelling and just using Infuse on my iOS devices.

Since the latest update I am unable to play any videos on my Android phone. The spinner will show and will be loading forever (I let it sit for 5 minutes once). Using an external player (VLC) works just fine, video start immediately. Seems like something is broken with the app. Anything I can do to fix this?

What happened? I randomly get the error “Playback was terminated by the server. Conversion failed. The transcoder crashed or failed to start up”. This happens randomly when watching just about any movie, with or without subtitles.

What you did? Many said previously to delete the contents of the codec directory and restart the server. However after doing this multiple times the issue still persists. Movies will randomly stop playing half way through, give or take, and display this error.

Where I have been living, I have decent internet service connected to a wifi/router. I have a FreeNAS box that is running PLEX with a Plex Pass and have several accounts set up. I am moving to a new house with no wired internet available. I have a Jet Pack hot spot, but the problem with that is how to connect it and build a network.

I know some of the pre-built Plex systems have networking built in, but this FreeNAS is a workhorse with Quad Xeon and 16GB of RAM. It can fully transcode 4 streams at a time If I need it to. If the FreeNAS box could

I don't think that the Jet Pack will work as a real router so I probably need to have an actual router set up. What I don't know how to do is get it all set up and working. Ideally, I think I need a wifi bridge to connect the Jet Pack to a real wifi router where I can plug in the FreeNAS box, Apple TV, Vizio TV, etc...

Any ideas would be helpful.

Hi, I'd like to "advertise" my script that I made. I really think some of you guys could enjoy it. especially for those plexers with large libraries. I've recently made it compatable with Windows and MAC OS. I think, I'd like someone to test the script on those systems. I know for a fact it works great on my Ubuntu system. just download the script and run it with python3 in a command window for instructions of how to set up the config file.

I've completed an easily installed python script for linux users can run on python3. Windows can also join in if they download and run it with python 3.6.5. I'm not sure about other platforms like FreeNAS or UNraid. but in theory, if they have python3 support it should be able to run this script.

the result of this script is a home screen with the three to seven of most recent movie releases scrolling from the left followed by a random "old but gold" movie (10< year old and a critic score of 8 or more). then if you have an TMDB api key in your config file you get a random movie with a fairly low tmdb popularity score in order to possibly provide a movie you haven't seen yet? and lastly we have the complete random which is at every party, (sometimes they provide excellent entertainment though).

for people worried about messing with the database, I can absolutely understand that worry. but I've been running this script for a day straight now every 10 minutes with all kind of script mishaps that I've fixed and so far plex is running like never before. although, optimistic caution is advised and backing up the database would prudent if you allready aren't.

despite it's name which is short for "Plex Database Improver" this script only mainly edits one metadata category which have been horribly underused namely the "added_at" meta data entry. This is the entry that records when you added anything into your library. more importantly it's responsible for the "recently added movies" tab which we see scrolling on the main page in our faces on every app and client across the ecosystem. by manipulating this metadata we can in short take controll over the recent added movie scroller! huraah!

The potential behind this is endless and is the key to unlocking media discoverability on Plex! the buzzword all big media companies uses and tries to improve. I like discoverability, I like browsing random **** that some algorithm though I'd like. Because more often than not, it is pretty good. even the most primitive algorithms is miles better than nothing.

ich in mir sicher die Frage kam schon 100 mal, aber ich habe das ganze www durchsucht und finde keine Lösung.

Ich betreibe ein Freenas zuhause und habe den PMS darauf installiert.
Hat auch alles prima funktioniert bis ich gestern meine IP Adressen in meinem Netzwerk geändert habe.

Ich habe sowohl meinem Nas, als auch dem Jail für den PMS neue Adressen im Router statisch vergeben und diese Änderungen auch im Nas angepasst.
Wenn ich die Webmaske aufrufe über: http://"IPADRESSE:32400/web/index.html wird der Server einfach nicht gefunden.
Ich habe daraufhin auch das Plugin neu installiert und alles neu eingerichtet, da das in der Vergangenheit Probleme behoben hat.
Aber auch das hat keine Abhilfe geschaffen. Der Server wird einfach nicht gefunden. Auch in den Einstellungen der PlexWebApp ist der Server nicht verzeichnet, ich kann somit auch da keine Einstellungen vornehmen.

Port Forwarding ist aktiviert, der Router hat die richtige ip, feste Ips für alle Netzwerkteilnehmer sind vergeben.

Ich möchte lediglich im Heimnetz auf Plex zugreifen. Also nicht von unterwegs.

Meine Vermutung ist, dass irgendwo in einer Config datei (die ich nicht kenne) die alten Servereinstellungen noch gespeichert sind und meine WebApp immer versucht darauf zuzugreifen.

Hat irgendjemand eine Ahnung was das sein kann?? Bin über jede Hilfe dankbar.

The Menu Button has always seemed flakey with Plex (and perhaps the Apple TV)? When I press the Menu Button, sometimes, the app does not go back one screen but exits the application entirely and goes to the home screen. This is a problem especially if I am playing a video I cannot go back one screen to select another video.

Is this a known issue with Plex? Anyone else having the same problem?

Plex has not been 100% for a few months now. It seems to be related to a switch to a new video player (the HUD says "ExoPlayer v2", and I vaguely recall that it was something else before), but I'm not quite sure. The symptoms are all intermittent and include:

• Crashing on x265 files.
• Some subtitles refuse to play (no subs visible).
• Crashing on certain subtitles.
• Refusing Direct Play with many x264 files.
• Sometimes, resuming a video a few minutes in just shows a black screen, and sometimes crashes a few seconds later.
  After crashing, Plex restarts automatically and works fine for a few hours/days afterwards until the same thing happens again.

I'm not entirely sure what my question is , but let's try with:
1. am I correct to recall there was another player before "Exoplayer v2"?
2. is there any way to switch back to the old player (that works much better)?
3. is there anything else I can do to get things working properly? WAF is approaching dangerously low numbers.
The different Windows clients that I have lying around works perfectly I should add.

this questions and its answer is somewhere out there and has been asked 1000 times i guess, but i cannot find the solution.

I have a freenas box running and Plex Media server installed on it via the plugins.
After changing my ip adresses internally in my network, the server is not reachable any more.
I also enabled port forwarding to 32400.

I changed the Ip adresses to static in my router as well as well i have reinstalled the plugin and tried to set it up newly. Neither of those approaches worked and the server does not appear when i go to: http://"IPADRESSE:32400/web/index.html

Also do the server settings not appear and therefore i cannot do anything there.

My assumption is that the somewhere in a config file or something, the old server settings are still present and plex is trying to find the server there somehow.

Do you have any clue where to look or what to do?

Hello, I have recently installed Plex Media Server on a Raspberry Pi 3 B+. The server runs well and is able to play content with no buffering until 2 items have been played. Once a third item is played, after about 3-5 minutes of playback the video will begin buffering and will not stop (I've left it alone for hours to buffer and it never finished). If the video is exited and selected again, it will resume but will only play for about a minute before it begins buffering once again. The same thing happens if the video is exited and another is selected instead. The only thing that resolves the issue is a full reboot of the Pi; however the issue will return once 2 items have been played. I am streaming via ethernet on my local area network (although the problem also exists with remote streaming) to my Macbook Pro 2015 running Plex Media Player, everything is Direct Play with no transcoding, so that shouldn't be part of the issue. I don't think it's a problem with my router either, as I was previously running a Plex Media Server on a Windows 10 desktop on the same network and experienced no issues whatsoever. I've checked the Plex logs and there doesn't seem to be anything fishy, does anybody know why this might be happening? I can provide logs & other information upon request. For reference, I am running Raspbian Lite (CLI only) with kernel version 4.14.30-v7+. Thank you!

I would like to know if Plex is working on transcoding 4K HDR files to lower qualities with EITHER tonemapping to SDR OR without losing HDR? (it would be sick if both things where to happen)

I really like Plex and it would be a shame if I had to go with another program just because Plex doesnt keep up with the current technology.

Has the Giant Bomb channel been permanently discontinued? I assume so, since all videos stopped working for me and it is no longer available for install in the plugin directory or at https://github.com/plexinc-plugins, but I can't find any one discussing it so perhaps I was the only person using it

  -- Ensure you have restarted the Channel and the host Mega is enabled, shows working and has no errors in its display. Some AntiVirus such as Norton seem to flag this library.

What are these binary files ?

• Cryptodome : PyCryptodome is a self-contained Python package of low-level cryptographic primitives
  -- A cryto library required for Host Mega to function. Mega only allows downloading files, not streaming. Currently, G2G and ALL-UC are the only providers that provide links for Mega.
• PhantomJS: PhantomJS is a headless WebKit scriptable with a JavaScript API
  -- A headless browser that allows opening webpages and extracting the final video url required for playback. Currently, OpenLoad is the only host utilizing this.

New automation routine for reqkey cookie. Details on how to set them up are discussed below. You only need 1 of them. Thanks to @Twoure for both the methods.

Note: Important Please read

As of v. 0.50 (Nov-2017) the site seems to not use the cookie token anymore, though it still has it in its code. I'm going to leave that in the channel plugin code incase it is back. So now resetting cookie wont dump any token code and also Webhook (hook.io) and Node.Js parts of the code are not being used (Automation methods discussed below) and not required. The session/cf cookie is still used so Reset Cookie can still fix cookie related issues.

Method 1: Installing a JRE (Java Runtime Engine) like Node.js

The preferred automation routine for the cookie requires a JRE installed on the PMS machine. There are a few other JRE's that might work as well but I have only tested this with Node.js. Once installed restart your PMS and confirm in your channel log if possible and see the following entries to confirm..

Then navigate to the Reset Cookie and try a video and check if you are still getting the token error.

Method 2: Using a webhook url - please fork the one below and use your own

The other automation method (primarily where JRE cannot be installed) utilizes a website to run a small script to decode (similar to the manual process using jsfiddle). It is limited to 1000 request per month with their free plan so I request everyone to signup for the free account and fork this script https://hook.io/coder-alpha/test/fork and then enter it under the Channel settings/Prefs

Once you have updated the Settings/Prefs with your webhook-url navigate to Reset Cookie and then try a video and check if you are still getting the token error.

Once you have got one of the above methods working you can set your Cache expiry time to 100 (min.). This will fetch new cookies at that interval. I think the session cookie are valid for 2 hrs.

Troubleshooting: General

Restarting PMS can work wonders too in fixing issues and shoo away the ghosts of Plex
Some simple troubleshooting steps that might be useful.

Under Options > Clear Cache (can solve issues if a bad or old copy of a webpage is in memory)
Under Options > Reset Cookies (can solve bad/old cookie values that might be in memory)
If using a browser Clear browser cache or you can use the Inspect tool (Chrome) and Disable cache which works great after performing the first 2 options.
Restarting PMS can solve issues with variables in memory, including cache and cookies.

This is only recommended if the plugin never worked (could be due to a faulty install) and if the above does not solve then the following steps are to perform a fresh install. Save your Bookmarks via Options > Tools before doing so. You will lose your Recent Watchlist.

Via WebTool > Unistall & Install
If you dont have WebTools. Use Factory Reset under Options which will clear all stored variables (including Bookmarks, Recent, and other/all settings). Delete the FMoviesPlus.bundle from your Plex plugins folder. Download a new copy and install.

Troubleshooting: Errors

Video Unavailable. Error: Video Token Algo or
Video Unavailable. Error: Unknown error

• When the site's algorithm to serve the video link changes.
  => Make sure you're on the latest version . If you still see the error try a 'Reset Cookie' & 'Clear Cache' to download new token/code and clear older retrieved links. If issue persists please report on this thread.

• When the session/cloudflare cookie is expired or has issues.
  => Set Base Site URL under the channel settings/prefs to fmovies.is.
  If that does not resolve. Make sure you're on the latest version . If you still see the error try a 'Reset Cookie' & 'Clear Cache' to download new token/code and clear older retrieved links. If issue persists please report on this thread.

Error: The page was not received.

• The site might be slow to respond.
  => Give it a few seconds and try again.
  If that does not resolve. Make sure you're on the latest version . If you still see the error try a 'Reset Cookie' & 'Clear Cache' to download new token/code and clear older retrieved links. If issue persists please report on this thread.

Channel not responding

• This error can occur when using the Plex-Web client for a variety of reasons. The timeout for Plex-web client is set by Plex for 20 seconds which is not enough to make certain requests to websites which might need consecutive requests to retrieve a page/video. If the process is not completed within its timeout then you might see this error. This error can also occur when the site has changed its formatting of the webpage served and the channel plugin code cannot cope up with the changes. This error can also happen due to Plex-web caching an incorrect previous response in the browser cache.
  => Give it a few seconds and try again.
  -- If that does not resolve. Make sure you're on the latest version . If you still see the error try a 'Reset Cookie' & 'Clear Cache' to download new token/code and clear older retrieved links. Clear your browser cache and try again.
  
  -- Additionally, you can enable/disable some options under the Channel Prefs/Settings which will reduce unwanted requests being made. Those are No Extra Info. for Nav. Pages (Speeds Up Navigation) - enable it & Use LinkChecker for Videos - disable it.

Apparently plexmediaserver on Ubuntu 18.04 experiences slower transmit speeds vs plexmediaserver on Ubuntu 16.04.

However, my plexmediaserver is currently running on Ubuntu 17.10. I'm wondering if the same problem exists on 17.10, and I just didn't realize it? Does anybody know?

Does anybody know how those iperf3 tests were done? I'd be interested in replicating them on my hardware...

So I have a couple of HEVC/4K movies in my plex library, when I play any of the movies on my iMac via PMP the colors look normal as it should, vibrant colors, but when I play it on my appletv PMP colors are washed out, I tried it on a roku, PS4 and iPad Pro PMP and they all washed out. The only device beside my iMac that plays the 4K movies with correct colors its a vizio 4K tv with the built in PMP. Is this a bug ? Transcoding issue ? I will post a picture of this issue.

This is a Metadata Agent for downloaded YouTube videos. It works by looking up metadata on YouTube using the YouTube video id. It is important to have this id in the filename, otherwise this agent can't do the lookup. You can change the way the id is found in your filenames (through the Agent's preferences). This value is a regular expression and requires 1 named group called id.

The default value is: \[(?P<id>.{11})\]

This will find the YouTube id in names, like for example:
Person Of Interest Soundtrack - John Reese Themes (Compilation) [OR5EnqdnwK0].mp4
