Is it better to get memory that has a higher MHZ rating or a lower CAS latency value? I am looking at DDR3L-1866 memory that has a CAS value of 11, but I could buy DDR3L-1600 memory that has a CAS value of 9. My gut is telling me the latency number is more important but I would like to hear what others have done.

"Media Player Error! Resetting." only with synced music
I see this error is ancient, and I've found one post (that has been deleted, but thank you Google cache) where it's only happened with synced music. As this is the problem I'm having, as all non-synced music (as well as videos) play fine.
Is there a fix for this or is it another bug (like the synced music bug that they introduced a couple months back and then fixed 3-4 weeks later)?

Music missing after scan
I have found that my plex media server (v1.13.0.5023) does not fully scan the folders and find all my music.
I'm sure this is happening in quite a few folders, but the example I found is the following:
This folder:
.._Artists\David Guetta\Listen Again
has 22 tracks, naming convention:
David Guetta - Listen Again (D1) - 01 - Dangerous (feat. Sam Martin)
...
David Guetta - Listen Again (D1) - 14 - The Whisperer (feat. Sia)
David Guetta - Listen Again (D2) - 01 - Bang my Head (feat. Sia & Fetty Wap)
...
David Guetta - Listen Again (D2) - 08 - Bang My Head (Feat. Sia) [Glowinthedark Remix]
plex identifies the first 15 files only. all the "D1" files, and the 1st "D2" file.
No clue why.... scanning, fix metadata, nothing changes it.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening? Or how to fix it?
I'm assuming this occurring in multiple folders that I have not yet manually identified too....

Difficulty getting series named correctly
I think I've been through the entire internet trying to get Band of Brothers (and other series) to show as a collection and not individual items. I've renamed that series so many times trying to get it to work, but it's a no go every time. Even when using the naming convention posted in Plex forums Plex server doesn't even see them!!! This can't be that hard. What am I missing? Thanks!

Plex library keeps on updating unless disconnected from network drive
My library will constantly update if I am connected to my synology drives within finder. The only way it stops is if I go and disconnect the network drives within finder. I have updated to the latest server version (64 bit) and am using a 918+ with 4 WD 8TB red drives with double redundancy. The behavior is that it will scan for a few seconds, finish the scan and wait a few seconds and then scans it again.
I have gone through a painstaking process of renaming every single media file to be consistent as well as removing all extraneous files that don't serve a purpose. All that is left is actual movie files and srt subtitle files. I have logs available if needed to troubleshoot. Thank you in advance for the help.

iPhone X Folder View unable to scroll
Updated iphone app to Plex version 4.29 and now when i'm in folder view i'm unable to scroll through the list. The app just crashes/closes. I have 369 videos sorted in 27 separate folders, when i go to a folder that has more than 11 videos and attempt to scroll to item 12 or more, the app just closes itself. I can use the app with folder view on my iphone 7 and ipad mini just fine, just not on the iphone x. Attempted to uninstall the server and reinstall as well as delete the app on the phone and reinstall, but still have the problem. Am i missing a setting some place to fix this, annoying having to scroll through the list to find a video when i could have done so easily with folder view.

when Plex does an automatic scan for new films, it searches folders I don't want scanned. How do I limit the scan to only the folders I specify

BUG - Problems with File Titles and Sub-Directory Extras with Two Agents On
I have found that IF you have both the Plex Movie agent and Local Media Assets (Movies) enabled that you can get some unexpected behaviors with movie titles or your extras depending on which one is first priority.
My initial setup:
- QNAP TS-451+
- No extras in Library
- Local Media Assets Agent turned off (this was done because it was hanging onto the name of the Movie from the file's meta data instead of using the metadata from IMDB).
What Occurred:
When I started playing with extras (with proper folder structure and naming conventions), PMS would create a new movie record based on the name of that file that was added to the sub directory within the movie's folder
What I Did to Fix:
Clicking on the ellipsis for the Library in PMS Web allows me to Scan Library Files. This usually takes care of the issue.
Alternate Option Occurrence:
I tried flipping the Local Media Assets agent in front of the Plex Movie agent Doing this seems to resolve issues with files being added accidentally to the main library. However, I don't like this as movies revert to metadata on the file for name rather than what is pulled from IMDB.

Resuming playback causes TLS connection: Too many open files errors and eventual server crash
Synology 918+
PMS Version 1.13.0.5003 (64 bit)
Client - doesn't matter. I've reproduced it on everything I have, Roku, XBone, Mac, Chrome, etc.
This is direct play, no transcoding
When playing from the beginning of any media everything works fine. Resuming the same media at any point causes PMS to loop requests on different ports until the server crashes.
There is no other activity on the server, I clean started everything with nothing in the logs. It's 100% reproducible every time.
Here is part of the loop. I can provide the logs if required.

Is it worth running PMS on Nighthawk X10?
I'm looking to move PMS off of my iMac and am wondering if I should go with Nighthawk and upgrade my router in the process or get something like an Intel NUC or Nvidia Shield. What do you recommend?

Unable to connect to
I get "Unable to connect to" error on most of my movies. Some work and some don't.
Doesn't matter if it's movies, 3D movie or TV series.

Remote Access shows green then turns red
I moved to a new address and in the process we had to switch ISP and buy a new wireless router. Now my plex server will not allow remote access at all. I have gone thru all the trouble shooting documents and read everything I can on the forums and nothing will work.
I will get the green check mark for about 2 seconds then it turns red and tells me "Not available outside your network" below are all the details for my setup and my trouble shooting steps.
ISP: Charter/SPectrum
router: Netgear Nighthawk R7900P (firmware version: V1.2.1.6_1.1.86)
Plex Server: Windows 10 Pro/ Version 1709
Troubleshooting steps:
- turned UPnP on and off
- setup manual port forwarding to 32400 in the router, windows firewall
- tried using static IP address
- tried using IP reservation with my router
- checked and unchecked "manually specify public port"
- used open port check tool "canyouseeme.org" but was not able to get a open port
I have tried everything I can think of and everything the trouble shooting documents and forums say to check. can someone please help me. let me know if you need any screen shots or more detailed info. thank you

Issue with new refresh rate switching feature. Possible bug? 720p24 content outputs at 50hz
Best I can tell, anytime I play any of my 720p movies, the TV's mode will change to 50hz. If I go into the xbox settings and disable 50hz mode, the videos will successfully change the display mode and play in 24hz. The problem with doing this is that all of my PAL tv content will then be displayed using 60hz which causes judder.
1080p movies seem to correctly change to display mode to 24hz even with the 50hz option enabled in the xbox's settings.
Any thoughts? Before the display mode switching feature was introduced I never payed much attention to this but now I'd like to make sure it's working as intended. Anyone else notice this?

How to access activity log - history
Hi
I am sharing media with friends. I would like to see from the log what and if the are using the content. But it seems that the log is reset/empty everytime I re-access. Especially what media files that they access is relevant for me. Is the history available via the plex client/server? I can see the "playing now" just when the play the media - but after they are done the history are gone?

Player jerky with direct play on Windows 10
My wifes Lenovo IdeaPad 520s is having problems playing media using the windows client, videos keep pausing every few seconds. It should be easily capable of playing it back:
- Intel Core i5 8250U
- Intel UHD Graphics 620
- 8GB Ram
- 5Ghz wireless connection
Sample Video:
- 1080p
- Codec H264
- Bitrate 2050 kbps
My own desktop (2.4Ghz wireless) copes with the same videos just fine.

Is there an agent which supports multiple edits of a film?
I've been using and liking TheMovieDB for a while.
But I'm getting frustrated that there's no recognition (insomuch as I can find) which lets me assign different edits of a film, such as unendorsed ones, like the Hobbit reduction fan edit, or the Star Wars prequel reductions (de-Jar Jar-ification/Anti Cheese edit). Or the more endorsed ones, like the various Star Wars official releases or the Blade Runner Directors Cuts and Final Cuts etc (none of which are even acknowledged from what I can find).
Ideally, these extra edits would be found as alternative titles. I've managed these using my personal media library, but it would be great to source these from an automated means.
Is there one which would do this?
