It would appear, unless it's my user error, that Plex can not filter accurately for 1080i vs 1080p in terms of setting the resolution as a filter. I have movies in both formats. One will notice that the GUI (Windows desktop player) only allows for "1080p" or "480p" or "SD" as specific choices. If one chooses 1080p, one sees "1080" only as the filter variable. Then in that case, it does accurately cull all of my 1080i or 1080p movies given the "1080" that it unwantedly defaults to. However, if I specifically type "1080i" in, all 1080i and 1080p movies are included in the filter list as well as SD movies (strange behavior right?). When I specifically force "1080p" by typing, only 1080i and 1080p movies are filtered; no SD. Is all this a bug? My 1080i and 1080p and SD movies are correctly identified as such by Plex, btw, in the individual movie view.

Permissions issue with scanner even after setting the Directory/File permissions to 755/644

So I'm having a permissions issue that it seems like 90% of the problems are, and I'm unsure why. I've ran:
sudo find ~/Videos/Movies/ -type d -print -exec chmod 755 {} \;
sudo find ~/Videos/TVShows/ -type d -print -exec chmod 755 {} \;
sudo find ~/Videos/TVShows/ -type f -print -exec chmod 644 {} \;
sudo find ~/Videos/Movies/ -type f -print -exec chmod 644 {} \;
As found within a post by Chuck PA, reviewed and understand how chmod works (read the article/already had an idea) and verified my plex user is in the correct groups:
groups plex plex : plex video
I've stopped/started the service and restarted my PC - however my Plex Server is still not picking up my media. I've reviewed the logs and found:

This is running on the local host machine (Not on a separate physical/virtual server or a separate network). I've verified the media itself matches the requested naming convention - IE: The TV Scanner is under the TVShows folder, with Series Name>Season>Episode
I'm a bit unsure on where to look next.
Any help would be appreciated.
FWIW I'm running a fresh Ubuntu 17.10 install.

Opera TV is now VEWD, and Plex is no longer working!!!
WTH happened with this? Everything was fine. Then, a week ago, the Opera TV app wouldn't load. Now, it just black screens.
Should it still work? What do I need to do on my BluRay Player?
And, why isn't there a Player area for this specific player?

endless loop of "Invalid Credentials"
I am stuck with an endless loop of "Invalid Credentials" when trying to start the Media Player on the Win7 box that is running my PMS. The PMP on another Win7 box does not have this problem. I can go to my library if I ignore the warning but when I go to full screen mode I have to log in and then linking player fails every time. No problem with access to PMS, PHT, or any web or device clients. The issue has followed me through updating PMS and PMP to the latest versions.

Streaming only at 320p
My Plex only can stream at 320p, in my Apple TV 4K App I get to the Setup Menu, I change the streaming option at Maximum, exit the Setup Menu, and if a enter again, It get back to 320p.
When a play a movie, it can be notice that is at 320p.
I have a Chrome Cast to and I can streaming at 1080p with no problem.
Whats happenimg?
Also it gets difficult to connect with the server on the Apple TV 4K, always it said that can't connect to the server, and after insist several times, finally I can have access to the app.
This is the software that I am using:

Remote access dies
Hello
I am new to Plex. I am running Plex server on my Windows 10 Home machine, and normally play music from my Amazon Fire TV Stick, or from my cell phone when I am away.
I noticed that when I try to access from my phone away from home, some times the app would not be able to connect to my home computer. When I get back home I notice that in the Remote Access tab there is a message that says "remote access not available outside your network", but when I click on the Retry button it reloads and works perfectly. I test it using my cellphone without wifi.
Then I would leave home and continue using my app while driving. After a few hours when it is time to drive back home, once again the app is unable to connect to the home computer. And when I arrive home I see again the same error "remote access not available outside your network"... and once again all it takes is to click the Retry button to fix it temporarily.
Can somebody help? This seems to be quite unstable or buggy. I was planning on buying the paid subscription to access the premium features but now I am not sure Plex is reliable at all.

Not available outside your network
Hello,
My plex recently stopped being accessible inexplicably.
Windows 10 x64
Version 1.9.5.4339
I have tried all the troubleshooting steps listed here , to no avail. I even went as far as uninstalling and reinstalling the server software. I also tried connecting the server to my phones hotspot to rule out issues with my DSL connection. I couldn't find a setting for jumbo packets in my NIC settings, so I don't think that even a possible problem in my case. Its not a double NAT issue as my public IP matches what is shown in my router. i tried a manual prot forward for 32400-32500 also. nothing has worked.

Roku code always expired
I am trying to connect my roku to my plex account in the plex channel, but the authorization code that it gives me lasts all of 2 seconds before it expires. I can refresh and get a new code, but it also only lasts a couple seconds before it expires as well.
On the rare instance I've been able to enter the code quick enough, it still won't work.

"Select" Voice Command Glitch?
Since the last update I can't use the voice command "xbox select". Everytime I say "xbox select" it acts like I said "go back". All other commands work flawlessly. I've gone through the Kinect microphone setup several times to no avail.
I checked online for people with the same issue or reference to it not working.
Was this ability removed or is it a bug?

Shaka Network Error
I keep getting this error on most of the videos I'm trying to play. A few worked, but then the rest keep giving this error. I'm running from a Synology DS916 NAS where there are several free TB's remaining. Media is stored on the Synology volume.
I'm new to Plex and can't figure out what's causing this error.

Century Link w/ Technicolor C2100T Modem
I'm having a really hard time getting my Technicolor C2100T modem from CenturyLink to be visible outside my home network. I've manually forwarded a port and Plex see's the two IP addresses and the ports correctly, but is not connecting to the internet. The server mapping line looks like this. Private 192.168.0.2 : 32400 (green left arrow) Public 97.XXX.XXX.XXX : 48711 (red X) Internet. Any ideas?

Am I missing something with FF on Plex for XB1? and a comment on the new UI.
the "New" Plex app. I hit FF on the remote and it skips time instead of going faster. Is this a bug or by design? I prefer to go faster instead of a skip.
I hate the new UI. I'm forcing myself to use it (uninstalled the old app) in the hopes it will grow on me (no luck so far), but I really feel the tree on the left was faster and more intuitive. I may have to reinstall the old app...but I'm "giving it a chance"

Rather complicated scenario with two homes, five family members, 1k movies, 12k songs...help please!
Problem: if Plex is for me, what's the best setup (hardware?) I need to go after at each of two homes:
Quick situation overview:
+ two physical homes: one here, remote vacation home in Tahoe. Watching movies/listening to music at home is great. Can't see pictures through AppleTV as I can't move 400k photos to iCloud.
+ Unmet need 1: can't get best photos on AppleTV (can't move 10k photos to iCloud)
+ Unmet need 2: can't access ANY of our content in Tahoe. Want to have easy access to music, movie and photo library.
+ ALL Apple family: here ==> AppleTV 4k and iMac/3TB + 3TB Airport Time Capsule + Tahoe home ==> Apple TV v4 (That's it now)
+ branching into Amazon; Prime member extending into Echo: 3 Dots, 1 Echo+ and 1 Spot showing up imminently.
+ five family members: two adults and three teens -- all with iPhones that can AirPlay movies to TV for watching
+ LOTS of movies: 1k movies (no DRM), 100 movies (Apple DRM/Apple purchase), 50 movies (Amazon DRM)
+ LOTS of other media: 12k songs, 400k pictures (ideally, 10k "Best" ones to push to AppleTV for screensaver)
I'd love some help and insights on Plex, as I've recently heard this made be what our family needs - thank you!

Well... nothing wrong with the permissions, of course.
Nothing has changed except an update to PMS.
I stop PMS and restart it and I can delete from the client again until the next time...

Close button and fullscreen button should be switched
Not sure why this was changed in the recent update but why put the close button in the bottom right when most users on a Windows OS are used to having the close button in the top right, currently where the full screen button is. It doesn't make any sense and makes for a worse user interface.

Plex for Playstation support and future development
So, PS4 system update 5.0 has been released and there is still no word on what our beloved media player has in the oven for us. I really wish this post can get somebody from Plex to give us some sort of information on what the plan is for the Playstation platform. I really do understand it is super challenging to support lots of these different platforms and give them the quality we are all expecting, and I do know the fact that Sony is probably not the most friendly nor easy to work with. However, I feel it has been too silent and too little information being shared here, there is not even any acknowledgement of bugs and issues that’s been plaguing the PS player.
Can any of Plex’s people respond to this? at least tell us if it is indeed an abandoned project and won’t get any support moving forward so people can stop hoping and start looking for alternatives

Undefined error -2140536828 on PS4 after update to 1.3.3.3148
So after updating my PR4100 to 1.3.3.3148, every file MP3, MP4, Fails with the following message:
Undefined error -2140536828
Files that played just fine before the update fail.
Everything is working on my FireTV, Android, and Windows Clients.

HDR Solution for OpenPHT
Based of an example of MPC-HC/MadVR settings being tweaked to the extreme to get it to display HDR video and have hardware acceleration, I thought I'd see if the same process could be done with TV Picture settings to get HDR levels to appear right in Open PHT.
Setup:
Windows 10 in HDR Mode
Core i7 5820k
Radeon RX-470, Default image and video settings, 10bit 4:2:2 @60hz
Vizio P75-C1
Vizio Picture settings both started as the recommended bt2020 video picture settings from the AVS Forums 2016-2017 P Series owners thread.
Brad Calibrated- Color Temp Normal, Xtreme Black Engine Pro On, Game Mode On, 2.1 Gamma
Brad HDR- Color Temp Computer, Xtreme Black Engine Pro On, Game Mode On, 2.0 Gamma
I ran both stills and video from an HDR video in OpenPHT, then at the same time ran the same video in a window from the Windows Movies and TV app or MPC-HC/MadVR, both of which produce a proper HDR image. It was 'eyeball calibration' but I would go scene by scene or stills, usually from the identical frame, and get that 'Brad HDR' image from OpenPHT to look identical to the Calibrated HDR video. To my pleasant surprise, I was able to get that identical image; it even gave me the idea for some minor tweaks from the Calibrated setup to give the pic an even better look than before.
These settings should get most Vizio HDR TVs close. For others, I suggest pushing color/saturation and backlight to their limits, drop brightness by 10 and raise contrast by 10 and go from there, Tint will likely need to be adjusted. You can also try Potplayer as a possible reference player, as MPC-HC needs some extra steps and Movies and TV can't play some file types. This has been far simpler than exiting OpenPHT, going to the folder and opening a player that will just forget where to resume when you hit stop.
Addition suggested housekeeping: go into Plex Home Server, retitle your videos to 'Title- HDR' for family memebers. For files where you have 2 versions, 1 without HDR for streaming, make sure to split the files in Plex Home Server and then reititle the HDR version. I also put a different folder image on those files as an added reminder. This is now an option my wife can easily understand and use, not to mention not have to put down the Harmony remote.
