Hi all--
I've never been able to get embedded subtitles to work in PfK, both with Kodi 17.5, PfK 0.1.3, as well as the beta Kodi 18.0-Alpha1 and PfK 0.1.4a1 . This is on an AFTV ARMv7 box, with PMS 1.9.7.4460

I have several videos that use either SRT or ASS subtitling and I can never get those subtitles to display on PfK. I also have media with the "sidecar" .srt files, and these are not working with PfK. And yet all these same media files play with subtitles properly displaying on the web browser player, or even my Android player (a Dell 8 Venue tablet).

Can anyone recommend troubleshooting/settings to check? I feel like I've tried everything. thanks!

So after an exhaustive search of forums and tech support, looks like it is the Plex app itself running on Sony Bravia Android TV's that is broken and only passing 2.0 via SPDIF (Optical). Sony has verified they are good on their end (all other apps properly send 5.1). Android confirms it handles 5.1 passthrough. Even Plex app inside another (Kodi) passes through. But the Plex app itself for Android fails to pass through the full audio.

Will Plex work to resolve this?

Just updated to the new app. Happy to see resolution switching! But playing back rips of my HDR Blu-rays buffers after a thirty seconds or so and then forces a transcode. I'm connected via wired gigabit and to the same switch as my AppleTV (also wired gigabit) which plays the same material back without any trouble in the Plex app and Infuse.

Also, no bit streaming audio yet is unfortunate. Still want to be able to playback HD audio tracks, including Atmos.

Known issues:

• If your PMS has issues with SSL - enable the 'Use Alternate SSL/TLS' option under channel prefs.
• Link Checker does not report correctly on non Windows OS - Fix for Ubuntu/Mac here
• If the site is running slow, the Channel will crash when making lot of HTTP page requests - enable 'No Extra Info. for Nav. Pages (Speeds Up Navigation)' option under channel prefs.
• If the movie page returns with only the trailer or bookmark options - please visit website to confirm and then report here
• Links on Google 2 Server may not work on certain clients due to a cookie issue with Plex client - mentioned here. Not yet confirmed, try it with your client. Edit: This should not be an issue since the mentioned issue affects files hosted on Google drive and is not related to the types of Google server used here.
• Read the Troubleshooting steps and Work In Progress list below with other issues and for fixes to expect in the next version.

When reporting issues please include the channel log file com.plexapp.plugins.fmoviesplus.log [including numbered ones 1 through 5] (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201106148-Channel-Log-Files) or use WebTools > Logviewer/Downloader. Please make sure to 'Enable Debug' option under the Setting/Prefs and replicate your issues before providing logs.

Installation:

• This channel can be installed via WebTools.bundle or manually follow the directions below.
• Extract zip file downloaded from github to the Plex Media Server Plug-ins folder and rename the folder to FMoviesPlus.bundle. Restart Plex Media Server.
• Unix based platforms need to chown plex:plex -R FMoviesPlus.bundle after moving it into the Plug-ins directory (user:group may differ by platform)
• Recommended: Installing UnSupported Services by Twoure will allow playback via many other supported hosts.

Note: This channel plugin has a number of its own plugins and libraries which can take from a few seconds to a couple of minutes to Initialize after Installation or whenever PMS is restarted.

Note: Since these binaries are not distributed with the Channel code, anytime you update the Channel version using WebTools/UAS or manually the binary files will need to be installed again as well.

Once installed then follow the instructions below to set their options:

• PhantomJS
  -- Enable Use OpenLoad and PhantomJS under the Channel Settings. Using the client you are using for playback navigate to FMoviesPlus > Options > Device Options and enable Use PhatomJS. You need to do this for each playback client.
• Cryptodome
  -- Ensure you have restarted the Channel and the host Mega is enabled, shows working and has no errors in its display. Some AntiVirus such as Norton seem to flag this library.

What are these binary files ?

• Cryptodome : PyCryptodome is a self-contained Python package of low-level cryptographic primitives
  -- A cryto library required for Host Mega to function. Mega only allows downloading files, not streaming. Currently, G2G and ALL-UC are the only providers that provide links for Mega.
• PhantomJS: PhantomJS is a headless WebKit scriptable with a JavaScript API
  -- A headless browser that allows opening webpages and extracting the final video url required for playback. Currently, OpenLoad is the only host utilizing this.

New automation routine for reqkey cookie. Details on how to set them up are discussed below. You only need 1 of them. Thanks to @Twoure for both the methods.

Note: Important Please read

As of v. 0.50 (Nov-2017) the site seems to not use the cookie token anymore, though it still has it in its code. I'm going to leave that in the channel plugin code incase it is back. So now resetting cookie wont dump any token code and also Webhook (hook.io) and Node.Js parts of the code are not being used (Automation methods discussed below) and not required. The session/cf cookie is still used so Reset Cookie can still fix cookie related issues.

Method 1: Installing a JRE (Java Runtime Engine) like Node.js

The preferred automation routine for the cookie requires a JRE installed on the PMS machine. There are a few other JRE's that might work as well but I have only tested this with Node.js. Once installed restart your PMS and confirm in your channel log if possible and see the following entries to confirm..

Then navigate to the Reset Cookie and try a video and check if you are still getting the token error.

Method 2: Using a webhook url - please fork the one below and use your own

The other automation method (primarily where JRE cannot be installed) utilizes a website to run a small script to decode (similar to the manual process using jsfiddle). It is limited to 1000 request per month with their free plan so I request everyone to signup for the free account and fork this script https://hook.io/coder-alpha/test/fork and then enter it under the Channel settings/Prefs

Once you have updated the Settings/Prefs with your webhook-url navigate to Reset Cookie and then try a video and check if you are still getting the token error.

Once you have got one of the above methods working you can set your Cache expiry time to 100 (min.). This will fetch new cookies at that interval. I think the session cookie are valid for 2 hrs.

Troubleshooting: General

Restarting PMS can work wonders too in fixing issues and shoo away the ghosts of Plex
Some simple troubleshooting steps that might be useful.

Under Options > Clear Cache (can solve issues if a bad or old copy of a webpage is in memory)
Under Options > Reset Cookies (can solve bad/old cookie values that might be in memory)
If using a browser Clear browser cache or you can use the Inspect tool (Chrome) and Disable cache which works great after performing the first 2 options.
Restarting PMS can solve issues with variables in memory, including cache and cookies.

This is only recommended if the plugin never worked (could be due to a faulty install) and if the above does not solve then the following steps are to perform a fresh install. Save your Bookmarks via Options > Tools before doing so. You will lose your Recent Watchlist.

Via WebTool > Unistall & Install
If you dont have WebTools. Use Factory Reset under Options which will clear all stored variables (including Bookmarks, Recent, and other/all settings). Delete the FMoviesPlus.bundle from your Plex plugins folder. Download a new copy and install.

Troubleshooting: Errors

Video Unavailable. Error: Video Token Algo or
Video Unavailable. Error: Unknown error

• When the site's algorithm to serve the video link changes.
  => Make sure you're on the latest version . If you still see the error try a 'Reset Cookie' & 'Clear Cache' to download new token/code and clear older retrieved links. If issue persists please report on this thread.

Video Unavailable. Error: Token

• When the session/cloudflare cookie is expired or has issues.
  => Set Base Site URL under the channel settings/prefs to fmovies.is.
  If that does not resolve. Make sure you're on the latest version . If you still see the error try a 'Reset Cookie' & 'Clear Cache' to download new token/code and clear older retrieved links. If issue persists please report on this thread.

Error: The page was not received.

• The site might be slow to respond.
  => Give it a few seconds and try again.
  If that does not resolve. Make sure you're on the latest version . If you still see the error try a 'Reset Cookie' & 'Clear Cache' to download new token/code and clear older retrieved links. If issue persists please report on this thread.

Channel not responding

• This error can occur when using the Plex-Web client for a variety of reasons. The timeout for Plex-web client is set by Plex for 20 seconds which is not enough to make certain requests to websites which might need consecutive requests to retrieve a page/video. If the process is not completed within its timeout then you might see this error. This error can also occur when the site has changed its formatting of the webpage served and the channel plugin code cannot cope up with the changes. This error can also happen due to Plex-web caching an incorrect previous response in the browser cache.
  => Give it a few seconds and try again.
  -- If that does not resolve. Make sure you're on the latest version . If you still see the error try a 'Reset Cookie' & 'Clear Cache' to download new token/code and clear older retrieved links. Clear your browser cache and try again.
  
  -- Additionally, you can enable/disable some options under the Channel Prefs/Settings which will reduce unwanted requests being made. Those are No Extra Info. for Nav. Pages (Speeds Up Navigation) - enable it & Use LinkChecker for Videos - disable it.

Direct play works as expected, but anything needing any transcode (video or audio) fails without even starting the job.

Things I have tried:

• Recreate the docker container by deleting the image and repulling the pms-docker image
• Recheck folder permissions of /config and /transcode paths
• Manually delete the cache and /transcode folder (and watch that PMS is able to recreate it)
• Delete all libraries and recreate them

I have checked that PMS is able to recreate the /transcode and session folders even after manually deleting them, but it does not place any file in it.
I gave system user "plex" -rw permissions on the docker plex folder and all the subfolders and -r permission on the media folders, and added it when building the container (PLEX_UID 114, PLEX_GID 118).
I have also tried to assign root user when building the container again (PLEX_UID 0, PLEX_GID 0).
My plex docker path is located at a cache SSD with enough space left (+100GiB):
/srv/dev-disk-by-label-cache/docker/plex
/srv/dev-disk-by-label-cache/docker/plex/config
/srv/dev-disk-by-label-cache/docker/plex/transcode
The server has transcoding capabilities (Intel Xeon E3-1230v5 + 32GB DDR4 ECC)

I have recreated the error to get additional information from the logs, by following the steps:

• Stopped the container
• Deleted the logs
• Started the container
• Activated the debug option
• Asked for a file that needs to be transcoded from the android app
• Waited for the transcoding error to get reproduced
• Waited 15 secs
• Grabbed the attached logs

The most informative lines with the error are:

I am trying to manually install the latest plex server for my PR2100 but the MyCloud Dashboard simply will not load.

I get a message saying "This Page Isn't Working - didn't send any data ERR-Empty-Response".

It won't load using other browsers either, so a couple of questions:

1) Has anyone else had this happen?
2) If so, how did you fix it?
3) Can I download the Plex Server Update and load it onto the NAS device itself?

I added 3 movies to my library, but with repeated scans, restarts of computer and drive etc. Plex is not seeing the new media.

Recently when using Samsung Galaxy core phone on Android 4.4.2 the lock screen controls dont do anything when pressed. Usually you would be able to pause play skip to or go back to previous episode. See pic below.

any info about a fix? i think its getting ridicolous how long this is an issue. Its nice that we got a HDR support but its useless with the constant buffering with 4k movies. Everything below 4k works well.

Every 4K file I've tried with Plex just simply transcodes. Even if the hardware iIplay it on supports it. Which leaves me to think I'll have to wait for yet another update from Plex.

When the file is played with the "Movies & TV" app the files plays without a hitch, but as soon as I try the same file through the Plex app it fails horribly. Refuses to use DirectPlay and transcodes the file instead. And fails because the server is far from powerfull enough.

What's going on? What is holding Plex back here?

Both server and Xbox is connected by gbit ethernet.

I have an Nvidia Shield TV playing to a 4K TV and 5.1 sound system. Quite a few movies have TrueHD 7.1 audio tracks, as well as AC3 5.1. I cannot play TrueHD 7.1 with my setup, while AC3 5.1 passes through and plays no problem. In order to play any of these movies without transcoding and other issues, I have to manually select AC3 5.1 before playing every single movie. It's really inconvenient and difficult to teach others in my household. Is there not a way to tell Plex to stop playing TrueHD audio tracks and default to 5.1?? I have searched through every setting I can find on my Shield and Plex Server and can't find anything.

I have problems with my new synogloy nas, when i installed de Plex app from the synology store i click in the URL and he show me a windows to login with my plex acount when i'm logging in it show me that threre is not an available server, but it doesnt show me the initial wizard.

i was reading a lot of comments in this forum about this issue but did not find a solution.

When reproducing HDR videos narrower than 16:9 the black bars turn grey. Like in this picture:

It is really quite ugly and distracting. Any chance to make them pure black?

I listen a episode in h264 1080p. I press pause and few hour later when i restart episode. Screen is black and i didn't see button on screen.after I try on other serie and it didn't work. I only have sound. I reinstall but nothing work. It cut completly the signal to tv because i see countdown before shut off. It's only on my xbox one. On roku, pc and android, everything else work. If anybody can help me with my problem

Just wanted to report an issue. You can not select 3D from the Sony TV for the plea application. You can for Youtube and other android applications. Who do I report this bug too?

I've tried to reflash my drive (3 times now?) and set this up multiple times but I've ended up in the same state every time. This is a new install of Plex on a RPi 3 B+. I'm using the dev2day repo with armhf. I can reboot the PI and Plex starts normally as long as I haven't added any libraries. Once I add a library and the initial scan completes I have rebooted the PI. At this point I'm getting an SQLITE error in the logs. I've already tried the instructions to repair a corrupt database to no avail. SQLITE reports there is no problem and I've followed the repair procedure anyways. There are only six lines in the log of relevance and they are as follows.

All of my media is on a QNAP NAS and I'm mounting the drives via fstab with a 20 second delay and a 'mount -a' in rc.local.

Not sure what else to try at this point. I guess I could try the beta builds from dynodev?

Is Managed User support planned for the Fire TV app?
