Just got an echo Dot and was excited to see a Plex skill. I added it and successfully linked my account. I started using the voice control, selected my server and player without issue. Then I tried to play something and was told,"uh oh looks like there's a problem with your Plex credentials, please see the Alexa app to relink your account." I have tried this many times with the same problem. Anyone else run into this issue?

I've had a puzzling problem for the last few months and I am about to give up on Plex because it is that frustrating.
Whenever I Analyse a video file to force the download of a codec to view it, nothing downloads.

I understand that a 429 error is the server saying it is receiving too many requests, and that normally, one would wait a couple of hours and try again.
But for months now the machine in question has NEVER downloaded a codec.
For a while I made do by using a server on a win 7 machine, and copying the codecs, with some success. The machine suffered a hardware failure, and I needed another solution.
So I recently got a win 10 notebook for work. I installed the Plex media server, to the same result/error.
So two questions:
1) I'm thinking it's a home network related issue, and if you agree, please let me know some possible things to check/try/look into in the network settings.
2) Is it possible to just download win 10 friendly codecs for plex manually instead of the slick download-as-you-need them method Plex employs

As the title says 'can you downgrade the plex app on xbox one?'
My son has an xbox one which connects to my plex server, an old Mac running v0.9.x.x of the plex server software and now his xbox cannot connect to it as it requires v1.5.x.x which I cannot run.
My PS4 and Raspberry Pi work fine, but apparently his xbox app required updating, it wasn't optional, surely that can't be right can it? Not if it is going to stop it from working.
Or is he going to have to buy something else that can run plex and connect to an older server?

After the recent update of plex web player to version 3.26.2, I found that audio and video don't sync when playing hls content in channels.

I am stuck, I have been using plex for years I made no changes to my PC or plex, but the last batch of movies I added to my library are not getting movie posters. I have:
-Done the plex dance,
-Forced refresh of all meta data,
-scanned library
-Checked agent order,
-checked file names
-Checked for correct movie match
-Deleted chache
As an example I added "turner & Hooch" When I click on the movie icon in my library it shows the correct title and date, extra features, director, cast list etc... But no movie poster.
The movie DB is the on top of my agent list. I do not have a firewall issue. Again it was working fine one day and the next day it was not. No updates, new software, hardware etc.
Any suggestions would be welcomed

After the recent Plex Media Server update I've been experiencing playback issues related to transcoding on Android App, TV and web browser. When a video requires to be trans coded it only loads the first 2 seconds and shows the following error message " The server isn't powerful enough to transcode the file, try playing the original file for smooth playback ".
I've also notice when watching a trans coded stream my CPU usage doesn't move from 0-20% to 80-100%. So its like not even attempting to transcode.
I'm running Plex media server version: 1.9.4.4325
CPU:i7 4790k
Windows 10 64bit
Any help on how to fix this would be great.

Can someone help me understand how different clients require different types of files? Is there a list of which types of files for different clients (roku, apple tv, fire tv, etc.)?
I would really love to have my media in a format that doesn't require transcoding for any client or the fewest clients possible.
I am running PMS 1.9.2.4285 on my FreeNAS server (9.11.0-U4).
Slowly none of my TV shows have wanted to play. I have tired stopping and restarting the PMS plugin, and same with the jail. Still unable to play any TV shows. All i get is a spinning circle.
I have also tried changing the quality of the video for transcoding.
My music and movies will play just fine. I am hoping maybe someone else has had this issue and was able to figure it out. Also, I have attached all my logs for anyone who can understand them. I have looked through it some and googled. None of what i have found had helped me.

My playback video comes through very dark on the Android TV Plex app, versus what I can see when I view the same scenes on the PS4 Plex app. It's as if someone turned the brightness nearly to the lowest setting. On the PS4, bright and crisp (and also locks up after about 30 minutes, but that's a problem for another forum...)
I haven't changed anything from default and my client is the most up-to-date for both the server and client.

Starting to switch over from PHT to PMP.
One of the features I really like in PHT is the ability to use my photo library as a screensaver. My TV often sits showing a random slide of my photos while I have music playing - it's excellent.
I believe the only option in PMP is the "PLEX" screesaver - are there any plans to introduce a photo option for it?
Also, I liked the ability to switch the "unwatched" filter on and off with one keypress and the single keypress to toggle a video unwatched/watched.
Hopefully I'm not the only person to want these features

I have a substantial iTunes media library containing both movies and TV shows. This media does not have DRM, and has already been transcoded as necessary for optimal use within Apple's ecosystem.
Each file has accurate and comprehensive metadata including title, year, season #, episode #, cover art, soft subtitles, etc. I rely solely on metadata, and the actual filenames may not be consistent or comprehensively descriptive.
Can Plex automatically consume this metadata without referencing filenames or online lookup services? I have no intention of either editing my metadata or having Plex display conflicting metadata from alternate sources.
I notice that the Pictures feature on the ps4 is very slow to load while selecting a photo to select full size and slow loading the slide at the bottom that displays the photos in a collection for display.
Videos play fine, even transcoding of H.265 to H.265. So I doubt the server is the issue.

Latest version on Android and Windows Server.
Only option is to press Ok. Pressing Ok exits the setting and it's impossible to turn off the server setting. This happened previously and only uninstalling and reinstalling corrected it.
Now less than a week later it's doing it again.
Looks like the only way I can clear this error is to uninstall again.

This tool will quickly search a library, and then compare the items in the Plex database to the actually accessible media files on disk. It will then list all missing items from either the Plex Media Server database, or from your file system. This tool combines the outcome from the 3rd party plugins "Find-Missing" and "Find-Unmatched".

After login you are presented with a list of available tools:
When accessing this tool it loads up the Plex Media Server log. You can then via the drop-down select the log you wish to see.
There are no extra preferences available for this tool.
When accessing this tool it fetches a list of available libraries and populates a menu at the top.
By selecting one of the libraries, the tool starts to fetch a set amount of data and presents it to you.
If it’s a TV library, you can continue moving down the tree until you hit an episode
You can then select one or more subtitles for removal, view a subtitle, or upload a new one
This tool offers some extra preferences other than the default for WebTools, refer to the built-in help file for more details
