Plex channel won't open

Hello

I have a Roku Express + and Plex channel installed. The channel was fine a few days ago, but since this morning there is an issue. Every time I try to enter the channel a blue screen will appear for a few seconds, then it will automatically go back to the Roku home page without opening the Plex Channel.

I have the latest version of the Plex Server on my computer (1.9.2.4285) and the Plex channel is the 5.1. I have also tried to uninstall, reboot Roku and install the channel multiple times without any change. The internet is working as I don’t have this issue with YouTube or Netflix channel.

I also play successfully a video form my library using the Plex Web app so it seems to be a problem with the app for Roku.
Could any of you please help me out? Any recommendations?

Playback Error - streaming this media is unsupported

Hi Everybody,

I recently updated my Plex Server (HP MS, Xeon E3 1260, 16GB RAM, ESXi Debian VM) to version 1.9.4.4325, web Player version 3.20.7.

Since then I cannot play any off my movies and series on my PC (Win 7) using IE 11).
When I start a movie I get a Playback Error - streaming this media is unsupported. The majority of the movies are MKV created with Handbrake from .TS TV recordings.

Photos are also not working correctly. Some photos in the same library are shown some don't.

When I play them on my Samsung TV Client Version 2.009 the movies play fine.

On the Samsung TV though I had to configure the Client to use the local Viewer for Pictures to be enable to see all my photos displayed.

Streaming 4K

Hey everyone,
I am going to be rebuilding my server and want it to be pretty baller...

I have several 4K Discs that I would like to get onto my server. I know they will be huge but storage only gets cheaper, right Image may be NSFW.

So I'm thinking I'll need to get at least an i5 because there will be some transcoding since not all of my TVs are 4K.

Anyone successfully stream and transcode 4K? what was your system? How well did it work?

Can't access remote server on through on router with a VPN

Hello.

I have a Plex Server on Windows 10.
Connected to an ASUS router (RT-AC1900P) with ASUSWRT firmware.
The router is connected to a VPN service (ExpressVPN) as a client (OpenVPN).

The Plex Server shows the VPN IP as the public IP, and can't be accessed through it.
But while connected like this it is manually accessible using the actual WAN IP.
I'd like for the iPhone app to access it while on another network.

Please, help. I want to access the server remotely.

Hardware Transcoder

Hallo, ich benutze den Plex Server auf einen Intel Qnap NAS. Das Hardware Transcodieren funktioniert soweit. Leider funktioniert das nicht, wenn ich Untertitel eingeschaltet habe. Zwar steht da "Transcodieren von H264 (hw) nach H264 (hw)". Aber er schafft das nur mit ca 0,6 facher Geschwindigkeit (in PlexPy nachgeschaut). Ohne Untertitel macht er 8 fache. Weiß einer einen Rat oder eine Lösung?

Hallo liebes Forum,
benötige Hilfe und einen Experten mit Linux und Plex. Habe selbst keine Linux Ahnung und das ist das Problem.
Ein Bekannter hat mir einen Univention Server aufgesetzt und Plex dazu. Alles lief soweit gut, bis ich Plex aktualisiert habe und falsche Dinge gemacht habe. Jetzt ist meine alte Mediathek / Bibliothek weg. Bevor ich alles noch schlimmer mache, suche ich hier Support - auch gerne bezahlt, der mir wirklich hilft und sich über VNC die Sache in echt anschaut und hoffentlich reparieren kann. Ich möchte auch künftig selbst in der Lage sein, dass so etwas nicht mehr passiert.
Bitte gerne Kontaktaufnahme über alex@layh.org und dann können wir telefonieren. Hier im Forum Fragen zu stellen nützt nichts, dafür kenne ich mich zu wenig aus und stelle nur die falschen Fragen ...
Also wer sich gut auskennt und Zeit hat und etwas Geld dazuverdienen möchte, bitte melden!!

Computer direct connection to tv.. how to do??

I feel stupid for asking this but... well I use my Firestick to play things but new server setup and can I just plug my hdmi cable from my desktop??? Do I need a special graphic card or will the motherboard be enough? How do I control?

I’m hoping a direct connection will help my stuttering pausing server not powerful enough messages.

After reinstalling firefox clicking Plex no longer opens up Plex

When I click on the system icon Plex or click "Open Plex" nothing happens anymore. This was not a problem until Firefox was having issues and I reinstalled it and now when I click the plex media server on the trey nothing happens. I have to manually type in the plex address. I tried changing my default browser which did nothing. Previously it would take me to the plex web app. I installed the Plex web app on my Google Chrome browser but now a popup comes up saying it will be removed on October 24th. Help! This sucks.

Plex Server on PR4100 crashing during music streaming

Twice while controlling a Plex client app with my iPhone to play music through my LG TV, the server completely crashed. It started playing the album OK but then when it got to the second track, the iPhone had disconnected from the Plex LG media player and when I went to check why, the App on the TV screen was full of many words essentially saying the server on the NAS drive could not be reached. Checked all other apps I use on the WD PR4100 NAS to ensure it was not the problem, they were all working and communicating normally as was the overall health of the NAS drive. Thus NAS drive connectivity was eliminated as the source of the problem. Then tried to log in via a Firefox browser (V56.00) on OSX (V10.12.6) to the Plex server on the NAS. The connection could not be established so could not log in to Plex. Therefore as a test I re-booted the NAS drive and could then connect normally to the Plex server via the browser. Then re-tried the exact same music control situation again via the iPhone (was iOS 11.0.1 when this happened) client and the same no server message happened again in exactly the same sequence i.e when it came time to go to the bext track. At that point, rather that re-booting the server, I re-installed Plex with the most recent and current update (Version 1.9.2.4285 which I was on when it crashed) and was able to connect via a browser login. Have not tried to run additional music tests since then as had other stuff to do rather than spend my time trying to identify crash causes within Plex's software. Note I am not using anti-virus software as am mostly Apple products. Please advise thoughts on cause of problem and solution as do want to have to re-install the server app every time I play music through a client being managed by my iPhone. Thank you.

Plex changing movie title even though it's locked

Hello,

 

I've changed bunch of metadata with my movies (TheMovieDB had wrong info) including movie title. But after some time (library refresh) the titles got changed back to those from TheMovieDB. All other information (sort title, description, etc.) remained correct (the way I've written it), but movie title didn't. The lock icon in edit metadata is locked.

 

How can I force Plex not to change that movie title?

 

Newest plexPass version of PMS, Windows 7 machine.

The New Win App is Horrible. Where Do I Kick off a Lirary Scan?

One of my laptops updateed to 3.2.20-25990c77. It's just horrible. There are so many little unidentifiable/meaningless icons in the corners how is anyone supposed to know where anything is? It wasn't broken. Why did you fix it? Of most concern (at the moment) is how do I kick off a scan to add new content? My other laptop is running an older version. Wish I could tell you which but I cannot find the version. In that version I simply click on the Library name and I get a menu that let's me kick off a scan. Once that one updates I don't see how I'll be able to index new content. How do I kick off a scan in 3.2.20-25990c77 since the content doesn't auto-detect on my Ubuntu installation?

Plex losing subtitle while playing

Since Plex last update (1.9.1.4272), the subtitle disappears after 1~2 minutes playing the video. This happens to me with downloaded subtitle or subtitle got by Opensubtitle native plugin on Plex.

I think it's not hardware issue:
i5 7500
16GB ram DDR4 2400MHz
HDD 1TB 7200RPM (with 150gb free)

Can't fast forward or rewind on Nexus Player

Irrelevant of video format, I can't fast forward or rewind on my Nexus Player. I used to be able to go forward 30 seconds and back 10 second jumps, or hold down the forward or back buttons to "scan". Neither of these are working now. I believe they stopped after either a client or server upgrade a few weeks ago. Since then I tried upgrading the Nexus Player OS to latest Android, but no difference.

Note that this works fine on PC, Android phone, Playstation 3 and XBox 360.

I have been having trouble ever since the last few updates

Some of my videos have audio and some do not. In order to make the ones that do not have audio work, I have to drop down the quality of the video. This has not always been an issue. One of the more recent updates has broken my plex and it is very annoying. It has not always done this and not every video does this. Some of the 5.1 videos do this or anything with a high encode rate. I have yet to nail down a common element.

I have a HP Z800 with windows 8.1 as my server with the latest version of plex on it. It has plenty of power and RAM. Also, I have the newest roku streaming stick, an older roku streaming stick, and a roku premiere + for devices. My internet is 50/10 and I don't know what relevant server settings I need to check. Most of my stuff is in MKV format and AAC audio. please help!

We are tired of waiting for fixes and even more tired of being left in the dark for a quarter of a whole calendar year. If this poor guy has health issues, tell us something personal is an issue. If he quit, tell us you are looking for a replacement. If this app is above your guys ability, say we are incompetent. At this point tell us something. For crying out-loud, at this point just post a link to Emby on this forum. I don't know who thinks this is the way to do PR and support, but it isn't.

Jumpy Playback -- Unwatchable

I'm trying to play shows that were recorded over the air, using the HD HomeRun Extend (with hardware transcoding).

  • My PMS is plexmediaserver_1.5.3.3580-4b377d295_amd64 (Debian / Ubuntu)
  • TV: Samsung UN55JU6400 J-series (2015) model
  • Plex App version: 2.008 PMS version 1.5.3580-4b377d295

PMS transcoding is turned off, since they're transcoded by the HD HomeRun extend.

The video files are 1080p resolution:

  • Track ID 0: video (MPEG-4p10/AVC/h.264)
  • Track ID 1: audio (AC-3/E-AC-3)

It is so jumpy that it is unwatchable on the Samsung Smart TV,. Subtitles are garbled, so it seems to be dropping data packets. However, the SAME media files play perfectly fine on an older Vizio smart TV via its Plex app.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Es posible hacer que los títulos de las películas se muestren en español, por que todas me salen en ingles y algunas veces es complicado buscarlas.
