Today Plex Media Player started displaying the web app screen instead of the normal Plex Media Player interface on my iMac running 10.12.2 beta 4. My other Mac's Plex Media Player works fine. I don't know if this is a macOS 10.12.2 beta 4 issue or what. I'm stumped. Any help appreciated. You can see in the attached photo the title bar says it's running Plex Media Player but what is inside the window is the web app.

Introduction
Hey there,
Some of you may have followed the recent development on the original Subliminal.bundle by @bramwalet.
I've made some serious changes, improvements and bugfixes to Subliminal.bundle during the last few weeks, with the help of some very nice people such as @PMAdmin, @chopeta, @BlueToxic and others.
As the direction of this project has moved a long way, I thought it was time to evolve from simply being a personal fork of Subliminal.bundle to something more dedicated.
Plugin Description
Sub-Zero aims to solve your subtitle problems by automatically downloading the hopefully best subtitles there are, for your individual video file.
Subtitles are a problem? Yep, they definitely are. I myself use this plugin on a daily basis as my wife has a serious hearing condition where subtitles help us to be able to watch our favourite TV series and movies together. Subtitles pose a generic struggle: matching your media file perfectly. This is as hard as it gets. Thankfully there are a bunch of libraries and services out there, that help with that.
Sub-Zero is far from being perfect, but with recent development and planned features, we're really getting there.
Its core is based on the works of Diaoul, who created the subliminal library, as well as enzyme, to parse MKV metadata. In addition to that Sub-Zero uses the extremely well-made guessit library made by wackou.
Sub-Zero still is under heavy development but has recently reached a stable state. I need you to report bugs and tell me your opinion on new features.
It currently supports the following subtitle providers:
- Addic7ed (TV)
- opensubtitles (TV, movies)
- Podnapisi (TV, movies)
- TVsubtitles.net (TV)
- The SubDB (TV, movies)
Automatic Installation
- Sub-Zero now is listed in the official Plex Channel Directory. You can install it from there.

- deutsche Filmtitel
- deutsche Zusammenfassung
- deutsche Poster
- deutsche Genres
- deutsche Trailervideos
.imdb, .ofdb, .rottentomatoes, .themoviedb
Los gehts!
1) Installation zusätzlicher Metadaten-Agenten
- Plex-Web starten
- im Bereich "Kanäle" auf "Kanäle installieren" klicken
- auf "More..." klicken
-> "OFDB", "Plex Movie", "CineMaterial (optional)", "Local Media Assets (Movies)", "OpenSubtitles.org" (optional)
-> [aktiviert] "Titel" und "FSK"
Bei 'Cast List Source': The MovieDatabase einstellen, sonst gibt's keine Schauspielerporträts.

remote access is down
I think this might be known problem but i'm running the current software and my remote access has become very buggy. it will grab a connection or 3 minutes and then no longer be able to get on. I haven't changed anything else besides upgrading plex (prior to that it was problematic at times but never a 100% fail rate like it is now) Running PMP 1.1.1 on a MacOS 10.12.4 wirelessly connected to a Time Capsule router plugged into my Verizon Fios box (bridge mode set on Time Capsule). Any suggestions?
Indirect connection only while on local network
My Plex server works fine remotely but when I try to play stuff while on the same network it says "Direct connection unavailable". If I go to http://192.168.1.*:32400 it works fine.
My Plex server runs as a docker on unraid and I use a pfsense router.
Freenas: Adding a SSD for transcoding, etc
Hello Everyone,
I just added a SSD for my freenas server (Plex is up and running fine) and I wanted to know if there was a way to just import the disk OR do I need to create a new PMS jail?
If I can import would this be the proper location: /mnt/media2/jails/plexmediaserver_1/var/db/plexdata/Plex Media Server
Thank you!
Can not play the media over internet after paying for unlock functionality
Hi,
I got a problem of playing media over internet and need help.
I have the Plex server installed on my desktop in my place and the Plex for Android app installed on my Samsung S6 phone.
When I was using the free version of Plex app, I could play the photos with watermark but could not play the video (no response after I pressed the play)
But after I paid for unlock functionality, I couldn't play either of photos and videos. When I tried to play photos, it showed "Unable to play medias". When I tried to play videos, it showed "Streaming Session doesn't exist or timed out".
The network in my place has 40Mbps upload bandwidth and my S6 phone is using 4G cellular network and it has 50Mbps download bandwidth so I think bandwidth should not be a problem.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Launcher for Android box that boots to Plex?
I have an Android TV box (MXQ Pro) and I know it runs all sorts of stuff, but what I'd really like is to have a dedicated launcher for Plex. I'm happy with the Plex Android app, but it would be good if the box booted straight into it. Obviously all the Android stuff would be visible under the hood, but I'm thinking of giving the box to a relative and the less other stuff visible the better.
Is there anything like that? Cheers

File & Folder Naming for Compilations / Various Artists
I looked through all the support articles and forums but the answer is extremely contorted
All i need to know is how to name my folders and files for a compilation album e.g. Now thats what i call music! 92
The naming convention i've currently got is:
Music\
Various Artists\
Now thats what i call music! 92\
1-01 - Madonna - Music.mp3
1-02 - Slipknot - Sulfur.mp3
etc.
Where all files are immaculately tagged using picard (musicbrainz), album artist is always "Various Artists" and "Artist" is the track artist
Please explain required file naming convention (something like XX - YYYYY - ZZZZZ)
Thanks
PMP Embedded on a 2009 Mac Mini - will bluetooth work?
Hi, I have a 2009 Mac Mini that I am trying to use as a client in the kitchen.
The standard Mac version of PMP will not playback recorded TV files very well at all, numerous dropped frames, very jerky, video unwatchable. These are .ts 1080i files. I have installed OpenPHT on the same machine, and Kodi with the Kodi for Plex plug in, they both do a better job of it, but the CPU is still maxing out occasionally. I notice the performance hit, no-one else in the house seems to though.
I am wondering whether the Embedded PMP version will run better, I am thinking that with no OS to use up resources, video playback performance may be improved?
I am a Windows person, with limited experience of Linux or Mac OS. I did try a while back to install Plex embedded on the Mac Mini but stopped as the Apple bluetooth mouse and trackpad that I use to operate the Mac Mini didn't work with the install process.
So, if I try again and temporarily plug in a usb mouse and keyboard to get the installation done, will there be a way to enable the bluetooth mouse and trackpad once it is installed, as that is how we operate it rather than via a remote?
Thanks!
Can I sell premium Plex services like Netflix?
I would like to offer in my region where I live streaming services (identical to Netflix) and would like to use the premium Plex for this.
I wonder if this is viable and possible with Plex?
Could anyone tell me how I get the copyright of the series and movies to use on my plex server?
thank you!

Problem on getting local meta data from music file with tag ID3v2.4?
HI!
I would like to check if it is a known problem and is there any solution now?
In my case, it is working fine for music files with Vorbis tag, but album and artist data cannot be shown (unknown artist etc) in the library for music files with tag in ID3v2.4.
Thanks!

Warning
Use at your own risk! This plugin assumes that you manage all your videos with Plex (and none with Kodi). You might lose data already stored in the Kodi video and music databases as this plugin directly changes them. Don't worry if you want Plex to manage all your media (like you should ;-)).
Some people argue that PKC is 'hacky' because of the way it directly accesses the Kodi database. See here for a more thorough discussion.
What does PKC do?
PKC synchronizes your media from your Plex server to the native Kodi database. Hence:
- Use virtually any other Kodi add-on
- Use any Kodi skin, completely customize Kodi's look
- Browse your media at full speed (cached artwork)
- Automatically get additional artwork (more than Plex offers)
- Enjoy Plex features using the Kodi interface
PKC Features
- Amazon Alexa voice recognition
- Plex Watch Later / Plex It!
- Plex Companion: fling Plex media (or anything else) from other Plex devices to PlexKodiConnect
- Plex Transcoding
- Automatically download more artwork from Fanart.tv, just like the Kodi addon Artwork Downloader
- Automatically group movies into movie sets
- Direct play from network paths (e.g. "\\server\Plex\movie.mkv"), something unique to PKC
- Delete PMS items from the Kodi context menu
- PKC is available in the following languages:
- English
- German
- Czech, thanks @Pavuucek
- Spanish, thanks @bartolomesoriano
- Danish, thanks @FIGHT
- Italian, thanks @nikkux, @chicco83
- Dutch, thanks @mvanbaak
- Chinese Traditional, thanks @old2tan
- Chinese Simplified, thanks @everdream
- Please help translating
Download and Installation
Install PKC via the PlexKodiConnect Kodi repository below (we cannot use the official Kodi repository as PKC messes with Kodi's databases). See the github wiki installation manual for a detailed guide. Please use the stable version except if you really know what you're doing. Kodi will update PKC automatically.
Stable version | Beta version |
---|---|
Important Notes
- If you are using a low CPU device like a Raspberry Pi or a CuBox, PKC might be instable or crash during initial sync. Lower the number of threads in the PKC settings under Sync Options. Don't forget to reboot Kodi after that.
- Compatibility:
- PKC is currently not compatible with Kodi's Video Extras plugin. Deactivate Video Extras if trailers/movies start randomly playing.
- PKC is not (and will never be) compatible with the MySQL database replacement in Kodi. In fact, PKC replaces the MySQL functionality because it acts as a "man in the middle" for your entire media library.
- If another plugin is not working like it's supposed to, try to use PKC direct paths
Donations
I'm not in any way affiliated with Plex. Thank you very much for a small donation via ko-fi.com and PayPal if you appreciate PKC.
Full disclaimer: I will see your name and address on my PayPal account. Rest assured that I will not share this with anyone.

Known Larger Issues
Solutions are unlikely due to the nature of these issues
- A Plex Media Server "bug" leads to frequent and slow syncs, see here for more info
- Plex Music when using Addon paths instead of Native Direct Paths: Kodi tries to scan every(!) single Plex song on startup. This leads to errors in the Kodi log file and potentially even crashes. See the Github issue for more details
- Plex Music when using Addon paths instead of Native Direct Paths: You must have a static IP address for your Plex media server if you plan to use Plex Music features
- External Plex subtitles (in separate files, e.g. mymovie.srt) can be used, but it is impossible to label them correctly and tell what language they are in. However, this is not the case if you use direct paths
Background Sync:
The Plex Server does not tell anyone of the following changes. Hence PKC cannot detect these changes instantly but will notice them only on full/delta syncs (standard settings is every 60 minutes)
- Toggle the viewstate of an item to (un)watched outside of Kodi
- Changing details of an item, e.g. replacing a poster
However, some changes to individual items are instantly detected, e.g. if you match a yet unrecognized movie.
Issues being worked on
Have a look at the Github Issues Page. Before you open your own issue, please read How to report a bug.

Metadata agents for exported XBMC library
If you already have metadata in XBMC, and would like to use that in Plex.
I took the code posted by Harley Hooligan, and changed it to work with my files.
In XBMC, go in Settings > Videos > Library > Export Video Library. Choose Separate files & Export Thumbnails and fanart, and optionally overwrite existing files.
This will create .nfo & .jpg files for your TV Shows and Movies, in the appropriate directories.
The following Plex Plug-ins will then import those into your Plex library.
To use them in Plex, first install them: unzip both files, rename them to end with .bundle, and move both .bundle packages into ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins/
Then, create a new section (or edit an existing one), and choose "XBMC .nfo importer" as the Primary metadata agent. or
Note: For TV Shows sections, the folder(s) you choose in your section settings should be a folder that contains TV shows folders. i.e. adding a folder that contains media files will NOT work!
Good:
Bad:
What it will import:
- Title, summary, tagline, rating, year, director, actors, genre, etc. from .nfo files.
- Artwork files: posters, banners & fanarts.

Plex/ Alexa/ Amazon Fire TV Stick
Hi all,
Sorry if this question has already been asked. Im trying to get my 2 Fire Sticks working with my Amazon Dot. I thought the process would be easy but it appears not to be. My Fire Stick is running s/v Fire OS 5.2.4.1 and FireTV Home version 5.7.3-17. When I ask Alexa to open plex I get only the option for the chrome web browser not either of my firesticks. Looking at the supported listed of devices I can see that FireStick is listed.
Am I missing something very simple?
Thanks
Neil

Plex screen top left visible only
When I am using Plex Media Player (PMP) it is awesome, BUT, when I watch something else and come back to PMP I can only see the top left hand of the screen, see attached screen shot.
I am running PMP on a PC that is always on, through a av receiver to large screen TV. Any suggestions how to solve this ?
