Okay... I think this could be a bug when the nVidia Shield TV acts as a Plex Client and the Plex Server is running on an external Linux Ubuntu Server. I hope this is the right subforum to post this.

PLEX Server:
Plex Media Server v1.0.2.2413-7caf41d - ubuntu PC x86_64 -
build: linux-ubuntu-x86_64 ubuntu
Linux version: 4.2.0-42-generic
Used IP: 172.16.0.21

PLEX Client:
nVidia Shield TV with latest Updates
Used IP: 172.16.0.121

nVidia Shield Settings:
Direct Play: Auto
Direct Stream: Auto
Passthrough: Auto
Subtitle: Burn in only images
SRT activated

Test Video:
Video Settings:
Container Format : Matroska
Video Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : High@L3.1
Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
Writing library : x264 core 85 r1442 781d300

Audio:
Format : DTS
Codec ID : A_DTS

Subtitle File:
External SRT File - UTF-8 Format (2 samples)

Log file Plex Server:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_WqHcC3cM_UVGYxcVlreklSWmM&usp=sharing

**Result: **
Error! Please restart the Plex Media Server App -
I restarted the App and the nVidia Shield multiple times. It's always the same error.
The error appears nearly immediatley when you press play.

As soon as you deactivate the external subtitle in the settings of the video playback start smooth and plays over direct play.

Does anyone of you experience the same problems?
Can anyone try to reproduce the above setting to check if I'm right?
Can somebody please take a look at the log file?
