Several months ago, I invited my cousin and brother to share my Plex libraries. My brother just uses Plex from his Xbox 360 to occasionally watched TV shows he missed that I recorded through Windows Media Center. This has worked flawlessly every time I ha
When my cousin accepted my invitation, he signed up, and set his own library up to stream his WMC recordings from work. A result that I wasn't expecting was that when I signed into Plex from my PS4 later that day, I was able to see his Plex Media Server. I wasn't sure if that was a glitch because I haven't seen his media server as an available option from my account since then.
I was just visiting his house. While connected to his Wi-Fi, I puled up the Plex app on my phone. To my surprise, his media server came up available again. When I got home, his media server was no longer showing up as an option - not even to tell me that it is offline. His settings show that remote access is configured properly, and he accesses his server from outside the home all the time with his own login.
I just called him to check his status. He said that my server is available to select, but it tells him that I'm offline. I checked from my phone again without Wi-Fi, using cellular data instead, and it connects to my server without issues. It appears that we are having some issues establishing connections with shared libraries.
