FX6300 or i5-6400

I have the option of using either one of these processors, I know the 6400 is faster, but it has less cores.

I'm currently using the 6300, but it seems like if there is more than one device running plex, for instance, a Roku, and a PC, the videos lag out.

Would the 6400 be a better choice for it?
