Hi all,
Very new to Plex and media serving in general and I'm just seeing if it can be used to accommodate my requirements.
I manage a network where I do not have access to all user devices but am expected to grant them easy access (read: very untechnical people) to a vast amount of network resources.
One of these resources consists of a number of MPEG2 and H.264 live streams from both local and remote sources including a live TV stream ported onto our network using a TV gateway.
Is there any way for Plex to receive these streams then redistribute them to users? This way, all media content remains in one place and all transcoding is done in one place.
The alternative if there is nothing in Plex that supports this is to convert the streams to Multicast and then get users to use a compatible player such as VLC (videolan) but this adds complexity...Complexity is not appreciated by these users. They didnt watch television for 2 days because they had accidentally moved a crestron app to the second page of an iPad screen...
