I have limited data from my internet provider. There are no such things as unlimited data plans in Alaska. How much data is used if the server and all the streaming devices are on the local WiFi network? When streaming to a device off net, whose data is used, the owner of the offnet device downloading the content or data from the owner of the server? I am wondering just how expensive this system would be if massive amounts of data are used as content are streamed to multiple users.

Date Added is Wrong on All Movies
I upgraded Plex today to the current version and now every movie in my collection says Date Added is "a day ago" which is obviously not correct. Is this a bug in the new version? Is there a fix?

Plex library keeps on updating unless disconnected from network drive
My library will constantly update if I am connected to my synology drives within finder. The only way it stops is if I go and disconnect the network drives within finder. I have updated to the latest server version (64 bit) and am using a 918+ with 4 WD 8TB red drives with double redundancy. The behavior is that it will scan for a few seconds, finish the scan and wait a few seconds and then scans it again.
I have gone through a painstaking process of renaming every single media file to be consistent as well as removing all extraneous files that don't serve a purpose. All that is left is actual movie files and srt subtitle files. I have logs available if needed to troubleshoot. Thank you in advance for the help.

Downloaded Plex on Surface from Microsoft Store - No Offline Sync Option

I have plex pass and a server running Plex at home. I just got a Surface and downloaded the Plex app out of the Microsoft store. I am not seeing the "sync" option. Please advise.

Raspberry Pi 3 suck on rainbow screen with embedded img
Hello,
I couldn't find any info so here I ask.
I want to run PMP embedded on a raspberry pi 3 but it will not boot.
- downloaded the img multiple times (PlexMediaPlayer-1.3.11.758-4be89b5c.RPi2-arm.img)
- tried flashing with different tools
- tried different SDs
any advice welcome!

Are all the Tautilli docker images down?
I'm trying to fully containerise my setup but none of the Tautilli images seem to be either available for some reason. They all seem to be based off one common one which has been possibly made private/removed?

Bug?
Hi, i have had a strange problem the last few days.
I have watched a episode of a series i have several of. But for some strange reason. The episode changes status back to unseen (like aprox 50% left of viewing time)
Even if i do a have seen status update it comes back later to the same status. Seems to happen more if i use plex client on apple tv 3
But when the status i set i get it all over. windows, samsung etc. Allways the same episode.
Any tips?

Woran kann das liegen... diese Sucherei erhöht meine cpu last auf über 70%

Tautulli is a free and open source software, why isn't the app free as well?
Basically of two main reasons. First reason is the costs of the apple developer account I have to pay for. The second reason is push notifications. As I wanted to have as less configuration changes as possible after the initial configuration for the user, I decided to run a lot of code in the cloud. This service is also not free to use. So the one time in app payment helps me to cover costs for the infrastructure that is required to keep the app running. I assume the activity tab is the most interesting part of the app for most users so I opened this part free to use for everyone.

4k playback on my new samsung 65"
Hi, just got my self a new samsung 65" 4k tv (UE65KS7005XXE) and wanted of course to playback a 4k movie. Trying to playback the file Star.Trek.Beyond.2016.UltraHD.BluRay.2160p.HEVC.BT2020.TrueHD 7.1.Atmos from my newly setup of plex server on freenas corral in a docker image. I5 with 32 gb memory. up to 4 cores and 32 gb is allocated to the docker running.
When streaming i see that the network is on about 25mb/s, cpu core 1 is showing 70% in use, the transcode area is on its own ssd, the movie is on WD nas discs.
The problem is that i get a lot of buffering. it says in the plex server that its transcoding audio truehd to eac3, video: direct stream, and a message transcoding (throttled)
Since this is my first setup i have no clue what so ever where of if i have done anything wrong. anyone have a helping hand? tnx

Server Settings Are Unavailable on QNAP.
For the past few Plex server upgrades, I have had an inability to see my server settings.
Generic error is "Server settings are unavailable."
I'm running Plex on QNAP with the latest QNAP bios.

How can I copy a playlist from one user to another at the PMS folder level?
Hello All,
I understand that there is already a highly ranked Feature Request for Sharing/Syncing Playlists. I also understand that this has been a request for years so its implementation isn't looking likely. My use of Playlist is to group all movies series together in PlayLists. Bond Movies, Bourne Movies, Star Ways, Star Trek, etc. I have two users set up. The administrator is passworded and used by myself and wife. The other account has no password and is used by my kids with restrictions. Both users use the same Playlists. I would just like to avoid having to doing the same things twice.
What I am asking is if there is a manual way of copying Playlist? I am talking about a method that involves copying some files in the NAS PMS folder that will duplicate the playlist?

Are there any USB Tuners that work in the US with the Synology DS-218+?
Plex says that they don't support any USB HD Tuners in the US.
But has anyone got any to work? I'm not above hacking if needed.

Flex TV: Google Assistant/IFTTT + Plex Integration (with support for Sonarr, Couch, Sick, etc.)
Flex TV. is a web application that interfaces between google Assistant and Plex to allow you to control playback of media using Actions for Google or IFTTT.
Additionally, it interfaces with the API's for Sonarr, Radarr, Couchpotato, Sickbeard, and Sickrage.
It also has customizeable webhooks, so you can basically control anything that has an open API with your voice. If you can send data to a URL to do a thing, you can program it in Flex TV.

Help with apple TV NEED SUPPORT HELP
I just hung up with mac we reset my apple tv, and I am still getting the error saying that I need version 1.3 or higher to use the server. The app version on apple tv is 1.27 and it will not update? According to Apple this is a known issue and someone here in support needs to help fix it?

Optimize TV Shows Question
The main question: I have a TV show I just watched and as soon as I am done Plex re-optimizes that same exact episode (I assume it deleted it and then another rule fired off to re-optimize it). So I'm trying to figure out if there is a way around this, just keep the optimized version OR don't create a second optimized version.
Server
Plex Server Windows build with 1.13.0.5xxx - My server is a little older (iMac but running Windows 7 in bootcamp mode - don't ask, long story, separate thread) so I optimize all my TV shows and movies that I plan on watching. This is about TV shows as I don't see this happen on Movies as such (and usually I'm done watching the movie I don't necessarily want to see it again for a while).
Optimize Rules (these are listed below in the same hierarchy I have them set in the Optimized Rules list
1. On Deck - This optimized all On Deck items with the following settings. I use this to optimize shows I'm actively watching
* Unwatched Only UNCHECKED
* Limit to "10" items CHECKED
* Optimized for TV
* In Original Folders
2. Recently Aired - The optimized all Recently Aired items with the following settings. I use this for TV shows that either a) are on a long hiatus (winter) but I actively watch and fall off the 10 week On Deck limit I have set or b) shows that I've just added and will watch soonish (and thus be added to On Deck eventually) or c) shows that are one-offs and I'll watch soon but probably won't go to On Deck as it's just 1 episode of something I wanna see or a special report type thing
* Unwatched Only UNCHECKED
* Limit to "10" items CHECKED
* Optimized for TV
* In Original Folders
3. No other rules for this particular example.
Example
Season 3 Episode 6 of The Expanse is added. Plex automatically creates a TV optimized version of it because of Rule #1 - On Deck. I watch this episode. Look at the server and immediately see the shows optimized version is deleted. Then immediately the Rule #2 kicks in (because this show dropped within a few days) and sees that S03E06 of The Expanse has no Optimized version thus this rule starts creating an optimized version of this show per it's own settings.
Now what I'm trying to accomplish is to keep the optimized version of that show thus Rule #2 doesn't immediately optimize it OR have Rule #2 ignore this because I've already watched it. I was under the impression from reading through some forum entries that UNCHECKING "Unwatched Only" will not delete an optimized show/movie that you've watched. It will just keep that until you manually delete it or delete the Rule that created it. Is that not the case? If that was true then Rule #1 would NOT delete the optimized version thus Rule #2 would see an Optimized version and skip it (which I'm fine with). I'm trying to lessen the load on my server and Optimizing shows that I've just watched is not helping.
Now the other side to this is I don't mind keeping the version because I have kids or friends that stream from me from time to time and they might watch the same series and having the Optimized is very helpful in this case. So it looks to me like 2 situations could help but I need some advice:
Theory 1)
I move Rule #2 - Recently Aired - UP the hierarchy and Rule #1 - On Deck- DOWN, then set Rule #1 to Unwatched Only CHECKED and on Rule #2 set Limit to "x" items UNCHECKED. Thus original Rule #2 - Recently Aired - generates the original Optimized version, original Rule #1 - On Deck - sees an already existing version and skips it. Then I watch the show. Then original Rule #1 - On Deck - deletes the show I watched and no subsequent rules kick in and thus no second optimization happens (unless the rule set loops and I'm screwed at that point)
Theory 2)
I leave the rules as they exist in the hierarchy and change Rule #2 - Recently Aired - to Unwatched Only CHECKED. I add the show, Rule #1 - On Deck - creates the optimized version, Rule #2 - Recently Aired - sees the version and skips it, I watch the show, then the optimized version gets deleted (still not sure why this happens) and Rule #2 sees that it's been WATCHED and thus fails it's check and doesn't create a second optimized version of that same show.
I'm not sure which one of these will do what I want (if either, really) and/or why the optimized versions get deleted in the first place (some setting somewhere else that I'm missing???).
Any suggestions, comments are welcome.

Music Release Dates Are Wrong
I have a Plex Premium Music library and when I sort the albums by release date, I can see that the release dates in Plex are all wrong. There are a bunch of albums that have January 1, 2015 as the release date and no albums newer than that. I tried enabled the agent to scan and use embedded metadata in the files. The dates in the embedded metdata are correct (I've used MusicBrainz Picard to tag my collection properly), but Plex seems to ignore the date altogether.
Any advice?
