Downmix DTS to Stereo Fire TV

I've been trying to get my Plex setup, I see people having problems trying to get 5.1 with DTS but I'm having the opposite problem.

I only get what I assume are side channels without being able to hear the center channel with dialog, etc..

I have tried editing the Android.xml to force it to either use 2.0 for DTS or convert to AAC similar to what I found in Web.xml as when I stream DTS through Chrome it converts it into AAC however it still plays as Direct Stream showing up as DTS in the logs no matter what I do there.

The only thing I've found that works is picking a low quality in the Fire TV Plex app like 720p 2mbps and then that also forces the conversion of the audio and I can hear all audio.

Is there any way to force just the audio conversion to either stereo or AAC so I don't have to deal with the loss of video quality and extra strain on my server with the unnecessary video conversion?

Audio out of sync since Android TV update, HELP!!

About a week ago the Plex App for Android TV got an update. Since then the audio is out of Sync on every file I play. Can someone please help me resolve this?

Plex server is in my Network on a Windows 7 PC. Watching files with Plex App on Sony Android TV. No Sync problem with other devices, just the Sony TV after the App update.

Plex Service "Hangs"

Running Plex on Windows 10, the service occasionally "hangs". Meaning, the service is technically still running as I see it under Services, but any request either through localhost:32400 or from a client trying to connect will timeout. I can fix it by restarting the PlexService. Nothing in the logs suggests something bad happened, but I'm probably not looking in the right place. Any tips on where I should look for a cause? Or advice on how to resolve this?

Metadata for Tv show episodes

Any way to get metadata for each episodes instead for the entire series. Description, rating etc. for each episode is useful.

Movie library genre changed language after “Local Media Assets” agent activation

My movie library is configured in French, it used the following agent (Plex Movie / CineMaterial / Fanart.tv) and everything was working flawlessly, all genres where in French.
Yesterday I had to enable the “Local Media Assets (Movies)” agent (in last position) to add a subtitle to a movie and now the genres of new movies and refreshed ones are in English.

It is a pain because now the genre list show many duplicates:

Any way to get the genre list back in French and keep the “Local Media Assets (Movies)” agent active?
Or any way to tell Plex to rename some genre in a library (table of replacement)

Below are my information:

  • Movie library configuration: Scanner = Plex Movie Scanner, Agent = Plex Movie, Country = France
  • Movie agent order: Plex Movie / CineMaterial / Fanart.tv / Local Media Assets (Movies)
  • PMS version: 1.10.1.4602

Amazon Fire TV 5.1 Surround Sound not working?

Hey guys,

since a couple of days 5.1 surround sound is not working anymore (only stereo). When I watch something from amazon prime on the fire tv it is 5.1. Does anyone else have this problem?

Transcoding to multichannel PCM and streaming to ATV4K?

I was wondering if PMS is capable of transcoding to multichannel PCM and streaming to ATV4K?
Right now all I get is transcoding and streaming to (E-)AC3.
Using latest final versions of Plex.

Plex auf Android TV - bei Videos von der Digitalkamera Sony RX-10 wird kein Ton abgespielt

Hallo,
ich musste gerade voller Schrecken feststellen, dass bei meinen selbst gemachten Videos (Sony RX-10) der Ton auf dem Android TV nicht abgespielt wird. Über die Weboberfläche wird er abgespielt.
Plex Media Server Version 1.11.3.4803
Plex App Version 6.14.1.3753
Der Ton wird als unbekannt PCM angezeigt.
Wie kann ich dies ändern?

Apple TV audio stops randomly

My setup is Plex 1.9.0.4252 on Ubuntu server, streaming to an Apple TV (tvOS 11.0). With one movie in particular the sound will just stop while the video continues. If I pause and play, the sound will start up again. If I watch through web client, it seems to play (and the sound is) fine. Only thing I notice different is in the plex logs, when streaming to the Apple TV, I see the following message periodically:

DEBUG - Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected: 32 - Broken pipe

Also, the audio doesn't stop at the same point every time. If I start from the beginning it will sometimes pause at 1:23, then the next time it will make it through 5 minutes, or 2, or...

It is highly reproducible with this one video, but as it just started yesterday, I'm not sure if other videos will also have this problem.

I've restarted the Apple TV. Restarted the Plex server.

Any ideas?

Very low volume on video from Plex Android (on an Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet)

The sound in most video played through Plex is quite low. Music from Plex is fine, and other video apps on the device are fine, and the "volume boost" feature doesn't seem to do anything whether set individually per video or system-wide. Also, the volume is fine with those same videos played on the web, iOS, or Apple TV.

Any advice?

None of my videos will load. Can anybody help?

All of my videos load to 13% and wont go any further. This didn't happen yesterday and I didn't do anything to my server to make this happen. I am running Plex Media Server from my QNAP NAS (TS-453A) and the server software is V1.10.0.523 (12/27/2017). I have tried loading videos from the web and from a Roku and both have the same problem. I don't even know what to check. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shield Plex App - Sort By "Critic Rating" only shows star rating

Plex web page from a PC shows ratings based on what I chose for a library (imdb etc), no problems there, shows"IMDB 7.9" etc . However shield plex app always sorts by "stars" no matter what I try. If you select then the movie, on the main movie page you will see imdb rating (represented in percentage 79%). Is this a bug? Anyone has this issue and can it be fixed by maybe modifying some of the settings where app is installed?

Since more and more users asked for it, I'm glad to announce native Plex server support for Yatse.

The support is still limited (No transcoding), labeled as beta and limited to unlocker owners.

If enough positive feedback a lot more stuff will be implemented, so if you are a Yatse user you may want to try and report back your feature requests.

I do not consider the implementation to be advanced enough to justify a purchase if you are not a Yatse or Kodi user, but feel free to ask about the features you'd like to have in an application like Yatse with Plex support.

SHIELD TV: Transcoding auf externem Speicher - So richtig?

Moin!

Ich habe bisher meinen PLEX Server auf einem Windows-PC betrieben und war sehr zufrieden. Das es sich allerdings um meinen Gaming-PC handelte, war der Betrieb nicht optimal.

Nun habe ich das Ganze auf eine NAS (DS218play) sowie SHIELD TV (2017) geoutsourced. Soweit so gut.

Problem ist nur, dass es sich bei meiner SHIELD um die 16GB-Variante handelt. Diverse Transcodes schlugen dadurch fehl.

Nun habe ich einen flotten 64GB-Stick (140mbs Lesen /70mb Schreiben) rangehangen und würde nun gerne PLEX weiter über den internen Speicher laufen lassen und die Transcodes über den Stick.

Geht das überhaupt? Ich habe den Stick als Erweiterung des internen Speichers hinzugefügt, wodurch ja einige Apps auch auf diesen gewandert sind. Plex etwa auch?

Als Pfad zum Transcodieren habe ich "/sdcard" eingetragen, dort werden beim Konvertieren auch korrekt die entsprechenden Ordner angelegt.

Ist das alles so schon richtig?

Unable to save sync item (Expected X-Plex-Sync-Version: 2)

Hello,

when I try to Sync content it shows the error "Unable to save sync item (Expected X-Plex-Sync-Version: 2)"

I searched the forum already for advice and found a hint to remove all synced content and reinstall the app but it didn't work. After reinstalling the app it still remembers my account. Is there another way to remove the app then rightclick "Remove"?

I think it has something to do whith the recent update i installed on the server. Before it worked fine.

Could somebody please give me further advice or should i try to rollback to the old server version?

Changement d'ordinateur et impossible de trouver le serveur

Bonjour,
suite à un bug technique, mon PC portable Windows 10 est mort (son disque dur) et est parti en réparation. J'ai donc ressorti mon vieux PC portable Windows 7 qui fonctionne toujours malgré son âge et j'ai essayé de me connecter à Plex sans succès.
J'ai téléchargé Plex Media Server sur le site, j'ai même essayé de créer un nouveau compte avec ma deuxième adresse mail mais il n'y a rien à faire, mon serveur n'est jamais reconnu et lorsque je lance l'application j'ai droit au message "Echec de la configuration".
Pour info, j'ai désactivé les proxi sur Firefox et je n'ai pas de VPN.
Si quelqu'un à une solution, je suis preneur.

[Bug] Photos sorted by name are incorrectly sorted

Hi,

For some time now, and also in the latest version of the server (I have Plex server in Windows, version 1.8.1.4139), sort order in photo library is bugged. 'Sort by name ↑' and 'Sort by name ↓' orders the images exactly as 'Sort by date taken ↑'. Also, as you can see, 'Sort by name' ascending and descending don't change the order.

I'm pretty sure this is a bug in the server and not the viewer app, because I have tried in the Android app and via web with the same results.

This bug makes Plex unusable for many uses, including reading chapters of comics based on a series of images. This is a real example of how Plex show me one chapter I have in my libray when I select 'Order by name' (as far as I know, none of this images have any Exif data):

Even I have tried creating a copy without any properties and personal info (in Windows Explorer, right click in the archives > Properties > Details > Delete properties and personal info), with the same results in Plex.

So… hey Plex people, were you aware of this bug? Are you working in a bugfixed version?
Anyone know a workaround?

Also: Plex doesn't have a bugtracker? Sending bugs via forum doesn't seem appropiate to me.

When ya gonna fix the PMP taskbar icon BREAKING everytime the app is updated?

EVERY TIME PMP is updated, the icon breaks and turns to a white paper icon. Its ridiculous! this has been a bug since forever. I don't know any other windows app that does this.
