BUG: Fix Fast Forward on SmartTV app

Samsung UN65KS800D firmware 1168
Plex Sever 3.2.1 on QNAP

I have Video Preview Thumbnails enabled and the Web Interface scrub works great.
But in the Samsung Smart TV App, Fast Forward simply skips 30sec for each press of the FF or RW button with no video preview (same as using the right or left cursor control)

Fast forward should continue automatically until play is pressed and the Video Preview Thumbnails should display to show progress.

PMS wont open for me after an update last night. Been working fine for years. Any suggestions or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated. Here is the log info.

Sony Bravia 900E and Z9D Android TV Playback Issues

First, I would like to point out that not having a bug tracker is beyond understanding. I could maybe understand limiting the tracker to Plex Pass users, but even then, that would probably be counter productive to finding a possible solution to a bug by refusing to accept everyone's help.

My problems arrose since the updating of Plex for Android TV in early February, some videos have not been able to play. While some can. I've browsed the threads over the last month to find a solution to no avail. Today I decided to sit down and try a bunch of options to try and find a working solution.

The problem files cause the spinning circle for about 30 seconds until Plex just crashes. All of these files worked fine until the early February update.

So it seems if I mess with the H.264 level in the Advanced settings, changing it from 5.2 to 4.2, then sometimes I can get the problem files to play. If Plex crashes or I reboot the TV, then I would have to change the setting again. Does not matter if I change it back to 5.2, 5.1, or another setting, just changing it allows the files to play for some reason.

I've attached the mediainfo for the problem file and the logs. I'm still going through the logs to see if I can find anything showing me what the problem is.

The Wife Acceptance Factor (WAF) is pretty low right now. I've found a workaround by using Kodi with the Plex plugin.

This is just one problem of three. The grey bars still exist for 4K HDR content which is so distracting that we won't use Plex for that until we can get this fixed. The other problem TrueHD streams. I'll deal with the other two problems later, but right now, I just want to get Plex working as well as it was before February.

Oh, Plex admins, please put in a bug tracker.

Updates Folder under ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server. Safe do delete?

I'm moving my server to a different computer and noticed this folder that seems to store a bunch of previous versions of PMS, so I have a couple of questions:

1) Can I delete the contents of this folder?
2) If those are indeed versions installed through the automatic update, why are they being kept there?

I think I should be able to force a pre-roll video to any client that supports them. And they should extend to managed users and invited users.

Do I need to get the Nvidia Shield Pro instead of the Nvidia Shield?

I'm finally at the end of deciding what my server setup for Plex is going to be. At the moment I have a Nvidia Shield TV 16GB sitting in my Amazon cart, ready to go, along with a 5TB external hard drive that I'm planning to use for all of my media (I currently have about 2TB worth of files, but it's growing steadily).

In my research I've discovered some alarming things about the Shield for Plex, namely that 16GB of internal storage simply isn't enough for Plex's library. According to Plex, this can be easily solved with an SD Card or permanent hard drive acting as internal storage for the Shield, but according to a lot of people on this forum that simply doesn't work as a function.

I really don't want to shell out the extra hundreds of dollars for the 500GB Nvidia Shield Pro, it feels like overkill for my setup. Basically all I need is for it to handle a single stream at a time (I'm the only person in my house who'll use it), 1080p max and mostly in the correct codec. If it weren't for the storage issue, the Shield would be perfect.

So is it worth it? Is this a genuine problem that I need to take into account when buying a 16GB Shield, or is it a little overblown? Does the SD card trick really not work?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys. :smile:

I have set up a media server on my new Shield TV. However, when I go to create or edit libraries I just get a loading circle that goes on indefinitely. Any advice?

Hi!
Im Zuge meines QNAP-Versuchs (453Bmini - ne Katastrophe) habe ich meine Daten und Plex auseinandergerissen. Jetzt habe ich meinen HTPC (Windows 10) dann doch wieder aus einem Image wieder vollständig hergestellt und drehe die Uhr zurück auf PC-gestütztes Plex.

Auf dem Image habe ich auch meine ursprüngliche Plex-Server-Installation. Die dürfte ja einfach so wieder funktionieren, wenn ich alle Files wieder auf dem original verwendeten Laufwerksbuchstaben in der Art wieder herstelle, richtig? Oder wird der Bibliotheksindex anders zusammengebaut? Wo könnte ich nachsehen, wo die eingelesenen Daten vormals lagen? Ich bin mir nämlich nicht sicher, ob auf D oder E. Ich möchte einfach vermeiden, dass nochmals alles eingelesen werden muss, wenn möglich.

Wäre klasse, wenn Ihr mir helfen könntet.

Official LG Plex app does not load since 24/01/2018

I have a LG OLED65E7V, and have used the official Plex app from the LG app store for months with no problems at all. Since 24/01/2018 though, it won't load at all past the Plex logo loading screen; eventually it gives an error and lets you click a button to reset Plex, but that just brings you back to the Plex logo loading screen. I have seen several forum posts here with users of Hisense TVs complaining of the exact same problem, and it looked as though someone from the Plex team said that they knew what caused the problem and that it was now fixed for Hisense TVs, so does someone from the Plex team need to apply that fix to LG TVs now?! The unofficial XPlay app and Plex on the website work fine.

Amazon Fire TV 5.1 Surround Sound not working?

since a couple of days 5.1 surround sound is not working anymore (only stereo). When I watch something from amazon prime on the fire tv it is 5.1. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi.
Xbox one X app, says Buffering (Grey box) even though it is playing perfectly. Grey buffering box just hangs permanently during video playback.
Have restarted console, same. will delete app later, and re acquire, see if it helps. If it helps i will delete post.

PMS 1.12.0.4829 crashing, leaking memory

I just upgraded to PMS 1.12.0.4829 on my living room HTPC. 1.12.0.4829 has crashed twice in one day. The first crash was due to an out of memory error. Windows reported that the PC was out of memory and Windows closed Plex to regain memory. The second crash happened over night. I awoke to a "Plex has crashed" error in the morning. I never had these issues with the previous versions of Plex. I tested a rollback to a previous version, which I always keep handy in case the new version has errors. To my dismay, I learned that Plex refuses to rollback "in-place." It warns that Plex must be entirely uninstalled before installing an older version. Nope. I'm not taking that kind of risk with a media library that I have collected and curated for the last 5 years. Yes, I do regular backups of my entire HTPC. No, I shouldn't have to depend on that backup just because Plex may wipe out 5 years of work instead of being able to do an "in-place" rollback. Plex Team, that's a disappointing lack of functionality. I'm also disappointed to discover that Plex Support seems to be unavailable to help with technical issues. "Support questions submitted through the contact form will go unanswered," indeed. So, here I land. Is anyone else experiencing crashes with PMS 1.12.0.4829? Are there any Plex Support Team Members roaming the forums who may help? Thanks.

Is there a sportsarefree.xyz plex channel hiding somewhere? I've looked all over and can't seem to find anything. I have no clue on how to go about making this work but I'd imagine for a developer it wouldn't be too hard. I'd be willing to donate for this as well.

I'm changing codec on some of my videos. I move the converted video to the same folder as the previous version and delete the old version.
Then I ask Plex to scan the library and it says 2 versions are found of which one is not available. So far so good.
Then I click on the "Not available" and delete the files at the video that is not there.
Afterwards it continues to claim the video is not there.
I have to close the browser and reopen it to make the information right. It's not enough to press F5.
Anyway it has no significance. It's just not the right information.

XPlay (Android) is the Android version of XPlay app (read more about it here: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/168315/xplay-webos/p1)

The app primarily designed for Android TV and Android boxes that work on Android 5 and higher.
After releasing the app for Android TV I think to port it for tablets and phones. But now I'm guessing if it have any sense.

If you have any thoughts and suggestions, please let me know! I will appreciate much any reasoned opinion

I have Plex Media Server running at home. My 2 son's iPad Minis had the Plex app and played fine. I upgraded and now it just won't show any media. Not connected or Unauthorized are the messages I keep receiving. What is going on? Can you please help? Thanks!

Salve.
Ho installato plex in quanto ho letto delle belle recensione a riguardo...peccato che nella realtà non sia così! Partiamo con calma.
Il primo problema sono i meta-dati. Non ce verso di farglieli scaricare! Sono stato due giorni a smanettare, leggere in internet a qualche soluzione ma niente... nulla da fare. Ho sistemato e rinominato i vari film leggendo dai vari database più popolari per quanto riguarda il mondo del cinema, ma nulla da fare. Allora ho provato a inserire i film all'interno di cartelle con il nome stesso del film e neanche stavolta non cè stato verso di farlo funzionare! Allora cancello, aggiungo e ri-aggiungo le librerie...cambio ripetutamente database e gli agenti a cui plex si affida per scaricare le varie immagini di copertina, trama ecc...e nulla! vuoto totale!. Allora penso poi (ingenuamente) che forse potrebbe essere un problema del PC... cosi scendo giù, accendo la mia smart tv, pregando che si visualizzasse qualche immagine di copertina...ma immagino che in quel momento dal cielo nessuno stava ascoltando. Il giorno dopo, cioè oggi, mi sono imbattuto in un post presente in questo forum(datato 2014) dove qualcuno diceva di cancellare le cartelle "System.bundle" e "Framewok.bundle".. dato che ero molto scettico le ho solo spostate nella mia home per sicurezza senza cancellarle del tutto. Ho riavviato plex e, fortunatamente che le avevo solo spostate, quando andavo ad aggiungere la libreria non mi usciva nulla; ne la lingua ne la tendina dove ti permette di scegliere il posto da cui reperire le varie informazioni dei film. Risistemato tutto e ormai sfinito, mi gioco il mio ultimo asso nella manica.. decido di "mettere le mani" nel codice bundle di TheMovieDB( in linux è presente in: /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Resources/Plug-ins-c40bba82e/TheMovieDB.bundle/Contents/Code). Ho provato a cambiare il valore della prima variabile "TMDB_BASE_URL" mettendo il sito proprio di "the movie database" sperando e credendo che magari plex, vedendo il valore originale prima della modifica di quella variabile puntare in localhost, non riuscisse a collegarsi al reale sito di the movie database. Così salvo, riavvio plex,..... eeee.... ancora nulla porca p****a!!! E oggi alle 5:32 mi sono arreso... Tutt'ora, quindi, risulta ancora un mistero...

Secondo problema.

Ho visto più errori "shaka1001" e "playback error" che donne nude!.
Ogni 2x3 un bellissimo errore shaka1001 si presentava. Così ho fatto una ricerca e mi sono imbattuto in un post americano dove un utente diceva che qualsiasi errore "shaka" riguardasse il playback e quindi, più in generale, a qualche incompatibilità del cliente nel riprodurre un determinato formato video o audio. Così ho ottimizzato un paio di film(giusto per una prova) e per fortuna un problema è stato risolto! Finalmente! avevo ottenuto una rivincita per quei due giorni passati a trovare, invano, una soluzione per i metadati.! Fanculo metadati! ;)
Il problema dov'è però?. Non mi riesco a capacitare di come mai con kodi, stesso filmato e stesso dispositivo, il filmato viene riprodotto correttamente e DIRETTAMENTE senza apportare nessuna modifica e nessun tipo di conversione, mentre con plex se non si ottimizza, e quindi lo converto per renderlo compatibile, non mi funziona? E poi se mi partono video in FULL-HD da 10 GB sul mio s6 (moderna tecnologia :blush: ) perché non mi partono dei video sempliciotti a 480p?...ci tengo a precisare che su kodi vanno lisci come l'olio! quindi non è un problema di incompatibilità del telefono penso...e allora perché su plex ci complichiamo la vita? infatti mi viene da pensare proprio che plex si complichi la vita transcodificando come un matto quando non ce né alcun bisogno! Mah...altro mistero. (spero che voi mi potiate "delucidare" ;) )
Poi un altra cosa che ho notato è che nei client, come per esempio su android, durante il caricamento di un video dove è in atto una transcodifica, dopo un tot di secondi, o al limite 1 minuto, il client sul dispositivo si blocca.. quindi tolgo il filmato, il server smette di lavorare al quel filmato e quando rimetto di nuovo quel filmato re inizia di nuovo la transcodifica d'accapo!! Ecco.. questa cosa penso che va sistemata altrimenti questi client che pubblicate buttarli nel cesso che fanno veramente c***e!...come, automaticamente, anche tutte le opzioni che e si hanno a disposizione come "conversione automatica", "aggiustamento della qualità in base alla connessione", "ecc.." tanto lo stesso non entrano in funzione se il client ti blocca e ti mostra un messaggio dicendo "errore riprova" o "non è stato possibile riprodurre il filmato nel tempo previsto" dopo pochi secondi! Ma c'è un modo per impostare questo "tempo previsto"? Mah.. quanti misteri. La mi configurazione comunque è

  • Intel Core i3-6100 (6a generazione) da 3,7 ghz
  • 2 moduli ram (in dual-channel) ddr4 da 2400mhz da 4 gb ciascuno
  • Un HD WD RED (1TB), anche se avevo in mente di comprare altri 3 hdd dello stesso modello e metterli in raid 0.. il problema è che è una spesa di quasi 300 euro e per il momento come si dice dalle parti mie "non è cosa".
  • Debian 9 stretch senza grafica. C'è solo il minimo indispensabile

Ora sono conscio che non è il massimo ne il top...ma che caspita almeno per un video la transcodifica on the fly la potrebbe fare ? non chiedo neanche il massimo durante la riproduzione , ma anche se andasse a scatti mi andrebbe bene! Il problema è che con questi client che fanno VERAMENTE pena ancora non sono riuscito a verificarlo per i motivi detti prima. L'unica cosa che mi viene in mente, se tutto questo non è successo a nessuno, è che magari non avendo comprato il servizio non se ne prendono cura o che comunque le funzionalità non vengono "spremute" al massimo nella versione "free". Se è così è una grandissima bastardata e non lo CONSIGLIO assolutamente a nessuno! E pure la cosa che non riesco a capire è come fanno certi nas, che tra l'altro fanno veramente schifo, riescano a riprodurre tranquillamente on the fly almeno un video e il mio no.

Vi prego datemi delle delucidazioni a riguardo. Grazie e spero che qualcuno riesca una volta per tutte a chiarire quanto appena detto.
