Roku stick 3800X sees Plex server but won't connect to it
I have 3 other Roku's in the house that work fine with the latest version of Plex. Today I installed the Roku streaming stick 3800X and everything works on it like Hulu, Netflix, etc. but it won't connect to my Plex server. I have read through the suggestions like rebooting my router, restarting the Roku, setting the Network security to disabled. If I try to view my videos through the Roku Media Player it sees the Plex server and I can play my videos that way. But I want to use Plex. Any more suggestions? Thanks.

Apple TV audio stops randomly
My setup is Plex 1.9.0.4252 on Ubuntu server, streaming to an Apple TV (tvOS 11.0). With one movie in particular the sound will just stop while the video continues. If I pause and play, the sound will start up again. If I watch through web client, it seems to play (and the sound is) fine. Only thing I notice different is in the plex logs, when streaming to the Apple TV, I see the following message periodically:
DEBUG - Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected: 32 - Broken pipe
Also, the audio doesn't stop at the same point every time. If I start from the beginning it will sometimes pause at 1:23, then the next time it will make it through 5 minutes, or 2, or...
It is highly reproducible with this one video, but as it just started yesterday, I'm not sure if other videos will also have this problem.
I've restarted the Apple TV. Restarted the Plex server.
Any ideas?

I have PMS running on Raspberry PI 2!
There is a Synology release which works on rPI2 without a chroot. However it's seems to becapable of playing media that the drobo/chroot version was unable to. If you want to try it:

And it was surprisingly easy!
I followed the bitbucket guide for installing the drobo PMS into a debootstrap chroot on raspbian.

As with the Mycloud install, I had to change LC_ALL=C in the chroot plexmediaserver script and install libexpat1 (apt-get install libexpat1) in the chroot.
I'm using a WD MyBook to store my media. So once I had PMS running I created media folders in the chroot and then mounted the mybook folders in the main host. So my main host /etc/fstab looks like this:

Then I just add the chroot version (e.g. /media/tv) from the Plex GUI.
Last thing to do was to add samba so I can add/remove files from a windows host.

Plex Music - 'Various artists' compilation albums
This should really be an easy thing to fix but it somehow seems to not be getting fixed. Possibly it's just getting overlooked.
For compilation albums where the album artist tag is 'Various artists' or similar, tracks played through the plex for Android player show up as 'Various artists - track name' when it really should display 'artist name - track name'.
The artist displayed on screen should always be from the 'artist' field. 'album artist' is only for organising the albums. I know plex can see the 'artist' tag because it shows up fine in the Web player.
This is hugely frustrating for me and needs to be fixed. Posting here because I don't know where else to bring it up. Hopefully someone will see this...

Is there a way to rollback plex app for apple tv?
This update has rendered my plex useless. As others have stated pms crashes when playing certain mkv files. If not could the devs please put out the previous version as an update on the App Store until a fix is found. Loyal Plex Pass member.

Unable to add connection (manual connection issue)
I am able to type the direct Plex server connection into a browser (192.....with the port 32400) but I get an error code 401 when I try to do it on the iPad app. What gives?

Cant connect to PMS until restart
I have been having this wierd problem where i lose connection with my plex server on all clients dosent matter if they are local client or external not even localhost from serverpc is working, and the wierdes thing is that PMS is til in task manager and running.
Any suggestions?

[Feature Request] Public playlists / share playlists with users on the same PMS
Until there's a custom tag system implemented, many people organize their movies thematically through playlists ("Star Wars", "Star Trek", "Harry Potter" etc.). Unfortunately, playlists are bound to 1 user account only and there is no way to share them with other users or at least make them just public on your PMS. So other users can see them when they search for "Star Wars" etc.
When we just could tag all "Star Wars" movies, so they show up when searching for the term, this would not be an issue. But since this is not possible and there's no sign of Plex implementing anything to group and/or tag movies thematically, the public/shared playlist thing could be a fast workaround. And it would be useful anyway.

Platform Update for PS4
We have been working on a big platform update for the PS4 for a few months. This brings our app to the most recent version of the SDK made available by Sony for PS4.
We have submitted our update to Sony and are waiting approval so they can be published, I'll update this post with all future updates about the status and when the app is published.
Here are a few things this update should address:
General Stability:
- We are really sorry for the recent increase in the crashes, After this update we expect those crashes would go away or at least reduced drastically.
Brand New Video Player:
- We have switched to using the native PS4 video player, it should be much more stable, less freezes and reduce failure (crash/unable to play etc)
- More responsive (faster seek, play, pause etc.)
- Support direct playing of some higher level/bitrate content (eg. H264 4.1)
- Native support for anamorphic videos
- Accurate mapping of multi-channel audio
Bonus:
Support for HDMI CEC remote. You can use your TV/Receiver remote to control the PS4, keep in mind your TV or Receiver must also support HDMI CEC.
And many more performance and stability improvement.

"Playback has stopped because the connection to the Plex Media Server has been lost"
After years without a problem, since last week I am getting a "Playback has stopped because the connection to the Plex Media Server has been lost" issue on my Android TV device. I cannot play anything. The player can see the server and the server can see the player, but as soon as I try to play content it hangs and then gives the error. I am not having the issue on either of my Android mobile devices (OnePlus 3 and Samsung GalaxyTab S3). Connection is through a home wifi network.
The Player is:

The Server is:

Remote access stopped working

My remote access stopped working all of a sudden 2 days ago.
Nothing has changed on my router or server.
I did not have a port forward on my router so i have added a port forward too, but still no luck
Tested the port and it is showing as open
Turned Windows Firewall off and still no luck

RasPlex as headless audio only player?
Hey all,
What is the best way to setup and use RasPlex as an headless audio only player attached to my hi-fi and controlled via the Plex iOS app or web app?
I am looking to create a player that supports DSD and FLAC 24/192 and use a USB DAC supporting DSD (or alternatively a DAC such as IQAudio or HiFiBerry).
Is this easy to achieve using RasPlex?
Is RasPlex a better option than trying the Plex Media Player for Embedded Platforms?

Stuttering on Certain Mkvs Using Xbox One App
So, it seems like I keep having issues with stuttering on certain Mkv files while playing using the Xbox One Plex App. From the beginning of trying to play the file the audio and video stutters violently and doesn't stop.
I can play the same file using VLC or the media player on both the Xbox One & One S with no issue and using the Plex app on any PC (web or media player, Local or Remote), a FIre TV Stick, Roku Express, 2 Smart TVs. I are using original quality settings on all devices. The issue is just on the Plex app on an Xbox One (WiFi) & an Xbox One S (Ethernet) for the same files. I have local srt files for subtitles as well.

HEVC Videos Playback
I converted some of my larger video to HEVC and had no problem with playback under Apple-TV. Since a few days, a video with this format refuses to playback on my Apple TV - the spin circle does not disappear and the progress bar goes through the whole 1,5h videos in some minutes w/o showing anything but the progress bar. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Noticed a problem with LPCM audio through PLEX on Shield - volume significantly lower
I have an NVShield running through a Marantz AV8802A. I noticed that LPCM titles have a significantly reduced volume level. Is this normal or not? I have PLEX set for passthrough, and I have no problems with any HD audio soudtrack (Dolby TrueHD/ATMOS or DTS-HD MA/X),
I decided to measure with a decibel meter at the MLP after making sure that Audessey was being applied for the LPCM track. Nothing fancy, but I checked multiple titles that I had listed as LPCM. It turns out I am NOT imagining it. Out of the movies I have on PLEX that are LPCM, I noted only one title, The Fifth Element, that had both an HD soundtrack and LPCM that allowed me to switch back and forth.
Using the same passage of the first 5 minutes of The Fifth Element, on average the LPCM track was 8-10dB lower than the Dolby TrueHD and peaks were 6-8dB lower when played through PLEX. After I broke out the disc and played it directly, the LPCM readings were 5dB higher on average and 8dB higher on peaks than the TrueHD soundtrack. That's a huge swing of -13dB or so average and -18db peak for what I measured.
So, I guess I am on a quest to figure out why when PLEX is set to passthrough, LPCM is significantly lowered. I tried setting it to Auto for Advanced Audio, but no change. Any ideas?

Thumbnails Missing in Folder View
Hi all,
We are running the Plex app for Android on two different devices. Suddenly, when we are in Folder view, the thumbnails for each film have disappeared. What we see is a grid view with the name of the film, often truncated, but no other information about the film. The films do play if you click on the name. This was working perfectly until recently; Plex just stopped displaying the thumbnails for no apparent reason.
Does anybody have any ideas what I can try to get the thumbnails back? Everything else works perfectly; the thumbnails are there in every view except Folder.

Unable to stream video. Transcoder works, but no video is received.
Hi, my plex media server was running fine for a couple of months. Suddenly me and my friends are no longer able to stream video. The server shows up as online with a direct and secured connection in the plex web app.
The only thing i can remember changing on my server is setting up a VPN, and i think that might have something to do with it.
