Unable to delete File - Please check your permissions

Well... nothing wrong with the permissions, of course.
Nothing has changed except an update to PMS.
I stop PMS and restart it and I can delete from the client again until the next time...

is there a way to get info from plex to transfer to PlexPy from before you installed it? ive been using it for over a year and id like to see the stats from the past year instead of the pas 4 days :/

Amazon Echo does not play music tracks to end

My Amazon Echo will play music to me external players without an issue. However, when I play music through the Amazon Echo's own speakers each track stops playing after 90 - 120 seconds into the track. It then starts playing the next track and the same thing happens.

How do I stop is happening?

When I got the 16gb Shield and set it all up, remote access worked well.... for the first week. I had it wired directly to my modem. I decided to make it a wireless connection and I could no longer access the Plex server remotely. I checked my modem settings and Plex was already there in the port forwarding section, no firewalls on the modem so everything should work. I tried to set remote access through the web app and while it initially succeeds and gives me a 'full access,' message and the green signal, within thirty seconds the message resets to 'no access,' and the red symbol. This happens both when I set the port, 32400, manually as well as when I erase the port and just try to connect that way. Private IP in the server settings does not show when it does manage to connect. The one time that it showed was when I disabled UPnP on the modem and then enabled it. However, within 30 seconds it disconnected again.

So today, I went back to a wired connection and remote access turned back on. I verified that it was actually working by using my phone's 3g. 15 minutes of testing and everything was fine. And then there was a power outage which knocked out everything for 1.5 hours. When power came back, I was back to square one.

Now, when I went into my modem settings, I noticed that I had a separate IP address for my Plex Media Server and a separate IP address for my Shield TV. The Plex Media Server entry has the port 32400 for itself under the private heading. The Shield TV has a separate port.

Any recommendations as to what I do next?

Help debugging 4K HEVC playback issue on Samsung Q7F SmartTV

Using the SmartTV Plex App on my Samsung Q7F, I can play all 1080p HEVC content just fine from my Plex server. My problem is I can't play any 4K content (most of it various 10-bit HEVC) - playback starts fine for 5 seconds and then the video goes green w/ artifacts and only the audio continues. If I put the same media files onto a USB thumb drive and plug it into the back of the TV's brain unit, I can play it locally just fine suggesting the TV can decode the media (although I am aware this may be deceptive). I connect the TV to the server via 130Mbit 802.11N, although the actual network bottleneck is the 100Mbit wired connection between the router and the PC hosting the Plex server. The 4K video file is encoded at roughly 25Mbit including audio and I'm not getting any buffering dots so suspect this isn't the issue. No subtitles (I am aware this causes transcoding due to a known bug). I have been able to tell from the logs that something is transcoding when I play the 4K file, but the logs also tell me transcoding happens when I watch locally in Chrome on the PC as well and playback there is fine.

Any idea what the problem may be and what I can do/ check to help isolate it further?

On my Samsung TV Plex is saying that my sever is unavailable. It is showing my server name with a red X in front of it. On my desktop Plex is working just fine. However yesterday when I opened Plex it said my internet connection was to slow. I doubt that is the issue as I have speeds of 120 mbps. I have uninstalled the app from the TV and from my desktop, reinstalled them plus re add my libraries but still having this error. This is very strange. I've been using Plex since March and haven't had an issue till now.

I am switching from a wi fi connection to a wired connection in the hope of more reliable performance.
Question: Does Plex access my library etc. from my computer or from the Plex website? i.e. should ethernet cable attach from Roku to my computer or to my internet modem? I only have one ethernet port on my iMac. Thanks.

When Can We Expect Vizio Support?

I bought a Plex Pass, and I have 3 Vizio TV's thinking i'll be able to use Plex without hitches. Can't use Plex Cloud, and Plex app for TV some of the time says I am disconnected from the network even though Netflix and Amazon works.

I bought the Lifetime Plex Pass and I do expect to have a working build of PMS. I am not using beta.

I checked with Vizio and this is what they said.

The apps available on the Vizio television are developed by, managed and updated by the app providers themselves; we do not. It is not our Plex app. It is Plex's app themselves. If there is a feature not available it is because Plex has not yet; or have elected not to; implement that feature.

So what's the deal? It works for all my other devices.

While I am happy with the PMS but I am annoyed as to why the lack of support for TV's and the app?

I shouldn't have to go out and by boxes like ROKU or FireTV to get one app to work. This is not an option.

You need to fix this.


2.009 No Longer Appears as a Client

When using the Plex App (or Chrome Browser etc), the TV no longer shows as a client, when it used to before.

I'm running this on a J5500 TV with version 2.009, freshly installed on a freshly reset TV (due to previous issues)

It seems very strange - the behaviour exists both on wired and wireless, with both static and dynamic IPs

Hi, Guys.

I've waded through pages and pages of information, but am still having this problem. First, the setup:

  • Latest version of Plex server running on an Acer laptop
  • Latest version of Plex app running on MXQ Pro 4K android box

A couple of weeks ago, everything was working fine, Then all of a sudden, whenever I attempt to play most of my MKV file on the above android box, I get the "Playback has stopped" message. It seems to be isolated to MKV files only, but not all MKV's. I did also notice that some files would play video, but the only audio I got was a hissing sound.

Things I've tried so far:

  • Other devices: Plex works flawlessly on my Nexus Player, as well as my Galaxy S8
  • Server: I have tried running Plex Server on a different laptop, and I get the same issue (both laptops are capable of transcoding, and have done so before)
  • Changing every setting under the sun, on the server and the android device in question
  • Some files do work, and I can also watch Netflix, so it's not a connectivity issue
  • When watching the "Status" section on the server, I can see the device attempt to play the file
  • Set a specific path for transcoding (storage space is not an issue anyway)
  • un-installing and re-installing the app on the device in question
  • factory resetting the device in question (what a headache!)

Can anyone help? Please??

cpu constantly at 100%

hope someone can help me with this, i am trying to watch 4k movies, but since i tried, the cpu on my pc is constantly at 100%. ive tested a bit, turned everything off that i use to watch plex with, so it doesent need to transcode anything, waited for 4 hours now and it is still at 100%. my cpu is i7 6700k. it is not using any bandwith or using my harddrives. just the cpu. when i try to watch something it just buffers. ive also tried restarting pms, but as soon as i try to watch something, no matter what resolution it is it goes straight up to 100% again.
hope someone here can help me!

How to get content on dashboard

I just installed Kodi and the Plex add-on onto a Raspberry Pi 3. Everything went smoothly until the Plex dashboard loaded and no content showed. While on the Home section, I just see three dots that indicate something's loading, but I left it there for over an hour and nothing changed. Going to the Movies/Music/TV/Video sections show the message "No content available in this library. Please add content and/or check that 'Include in dashboard' is enabled." If I go into any of those sections, I see my full library, so there's definitely content and it's connecting to the server - it's just nothing is showing on the dashboard.

Plex Addon: v0.1.3
Plex Server: v0.9.9.14 running locally on Windows XP machine

I'm wondering if it could be an issue with the server, since last time I tried updating I remember it saying new versions wouldn't run on XP, but I can't find any info on a required server version for the Kodi addon.

On specific set of tv show filters always causes "Unexpected error loading this library"

I am running Plex server 1.9.7.4460 on a Synology DS412+. The server has three libraries: Movies, TV Shows and Music. All are functioning fine with one very strange and very specific issue that I've identified. If I click on TV Shows library and then choose "Unwatched" > "TV Shows" > "By Last Episode Date Added", I always end up with "There was an unexpected error loading this library". If I change from Unwatched to something else, or if I change the sorting to "Date Added", for instance, or any other field, then I get the correct results shown.

The screenshot below shows the filters that cause the error. I have enabled the debug log and looked at what is a huge myriad of json output but I don't see anything that is an obvious error and only status:200 responses, etc. It's a particularly noisy log. Some idea of what specifically to look for would be helpful.

Some of you may have followed the recent development on the original Subliminal.bundle by @bramwalet.

I've made some serious changes, improvements and bugfixes to Subliminal.bundle during the last few weeks, with the help of some very nice people such as @PMAdmin, @chopeta, @BlueToxic and others.

As the direction of this project has moved a long way, I thought it was time to evolve from simply being a personal fork of Subliminal.bundle to something more dedicated.


Plugin Description

Sub-Zero aims to solve your subtitle problems by automatically downloading the hopefully best subtitles there are, for your individual video file.

Subtitles are a problem? Yep, they definitely are. I myself use this plugin on a daily basis as my wife has a serious hearing condition where subtitles help us to be able to watch our favourite TV series and movies together. Subtitles pose a generic struggle: matching your media file perfectly. This is as hard as it gets. Thankfully there are a bunch of libraries and services out there, that help with that.

Sub-Zero is far from being perfect, but with recent development and planned features, we're really getting there.

Its core is based on the works of Diaoul, who created the subliminal library, as well as enzyme, to parse MKV metadata. In addition to that Sub-Zero uses the extremely well-made guessit library made by wackou.

Sub-Zero still is under heavy development but has recently reached a stable state. I need you to report bugs and tell me your opinion on new features.

It currently supports the following subtitle providers:

Manual Installation

  • go to Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins/
  • remove old versions (rm -r Sub-Zero.bundle)
  • get the current version from here
  • unpack it
  • restart your plex media server!


Usage

  • go to Settings -> Server -> Agents -> Movies/TV Shows
  • select the metadata provider you use on your library, e.g.: Freebase (movies) or TheTVDB (series)
  • enable Sub-Zero Subtitles (TV/Movies)
  • configure them
  • refresh your library (or individual movies/TV shows)

Use the following agent order:

  1. Sub-Zero Subtitles (TV/Movies)
  2. Local Media Assets (TV/Movies)
  3. anything else



Attention: If you don't include the source/format (HDTV, BluRay, etc.) in your TV media file names, lower the minimum TV score to 330, otherwise you get no subtitles!

HTTP.Request() to HTTPS URLs result into an error:

URLError: <urlopen error [SSL: SSLV3_ALERT_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE] sslv3 alert handshake failure (_ssl.c:590)>

Seems like this has been an outstanding issue for sometime which requires an update for the built-in Python to at least 2.7.9 (which was released in 2014).

Since more and more websites are migrating to HTTPS by default, I'd say this could be a deal breaker for many channel plugins for Plex. Does anyone know whether Plex has a plan to address this issue?


Does hardware transcoding of a single stream utilize multiple cores?

Looking at a couple processor choices for a plex server. I typically don't stream more than 1 video and usually direct play or stream but want the ability to transcode full bitrate blu ray rips and UHD/HDR rips when that becomes a reality. Kaby Lake processors seem to have an advantage with their h.264 and HEVC 10 bit decoding/encoding support. Does anyone know if when using hardware transcoding multiple cores can be utilized? I ask mainly because I'm considering a dual core 7th gen i7 vs a quad core 8th gen i5. Individual cores of i7 have a higher passmark but taken all together the quad core 8th gen i5 has a higher passmark. Thanks.

Unable to play certain video files

I've been having an issue I can't seem to figure out for the life of me for the past couple of days. I'm trying to stream some videos that play perfectly fine on VLC on the server itself, but get "loading" with the spinning circle on all of the platforms listed below. Tried streaming locally within my LAN and remotely but same issues. You can see the screenshots here that show what Plex Web, Plex Status, and PlexPy status shows when I start a video: https://imgur.com/a/ZN6V3

I've tried going through the Plex Logs to figure out the issue but can't seem to decipher much. The last video I experienced this issue with was "The Good Doctor S01E10". In contrast, the last video I successfully watched was "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee S03E01". Any help would be greatly appreciated!

getting 100% disk usage in windows 10

all the music and video files are on a "permenant" external connected with eSATA

i haven't narrowed down any specific cause.. everything plays fine, using the computer is fine, then wham, disk usage hits 100%.. task manager doesn't report much disk usage by any particular program, but under the performance tab the external drive will be at 100%, causing anything playing off the drive to screech to a halt
