Hello guys, a friend of mine shared his library with me and i cant play anything on my ps4.
It works on PC, iPhone, web , just not on the ps4.
It also works on my PS3.
Already re installed the app and still the same issue.
I can see the library but when i play one item it tries to play it but never does.
Any ideas?
I bought a NOW TV box with a lifetime subscription to IPTV from plex about 18 months ago.
It stopped working about 8 months later and now plex seems to have disappeared all together.
Is it possible to subscribe to an IPTV service with about 10,000 channels on it, and install it on a NOW TV box ?
If so, how do you do it.

Hello everyone,
I wanted to create a central resource for people waiting for the issues with Plex Sync to be cleared up. I will keep posting back if nothing else just so this thread sticks around. Everybody has a different use case, but there's an underlying theme that Sync works sometimes and other times not at all. Since this is a paid feature and also fairly essential functionality for a lot of us, I feel it should be a priority to at least get it to a functional state.
My use case: I have a music library of about 6,000 items taking up about 88GB that I want to sync in Original quality. I have both a phone and tablet with ample room to store this information. I don't want to use my data plan to stream lossless content all the time, nor do I want to actively manage what I'm syncing every day. I'm looking for a consistent media experience across all of my devices, simply mirroring one another.
Currently: Plex will sync the first 20GB of items begrudgingly; I do need to restart both PMS and the App multiple times. After that it keeps ticking down the amount of files remaining without transferring a single one. All files are compatible with my devices. PMS and the Android App are fully up to date. There are no communication or permissions issues in my network.
Expected Use: Plex should have no issues syncing as many items as you have space for.
I don't mean to be harsh, and I've used Plex for years and really enjoyed it. However, the idea of syncing content between devices is older than iTunes and I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be functional in Plex regardless of use case. As a company Plex has been really good about addressing functionality issues, at least in my case, so I have no doubt this will be addressed. It's just a little surprising that it hasn't been yet.

I'm looking to pick up a new streaming media STB today and want to know which ones support passthrough of ALL audio formats.
I've tested the brand new Roku Ultra (2017), Fire Stick (2016), Apple TV 4 (2015), and Xbox One X. None of those units (as far as I can tell) passthrough higher end audio bitstreams.
I haven't tried a new Apple TV 4k. While I'm not a fan of Apple or the Apple TV, I have to say it's the best so far overall user experience for Live TV/DVR use. So if the new model passes through all of the audio codecs I will pick one up.

Ii tried setting up plex server on ubuntu.
Didnt used linux before....
So i had some troubles with permissions, tried to fix that, but couldnt start plex server anymore after it.
So i went and tried deleting everything and installing again, but i get error every time. I tried cleaning everything with instruction from different sides but still nothing

I can not connect synalogyc to the shield console
Review all the congiguracion smb that is with what seems to be nocenta with synalogyc
But every time I try to connect the shield by the option to add networked storage device, either it gives me a bug in the program or it tells me that the user name and password gives an error.
Does anyone with my same configuration have this problem?

The majority of my PLEX audio media is stored in FLAC format, and when playing these locally via the Web App on Chrome the files are using Direct Play as I would expect. However I've also started to experiment with converting some of these files to the OPUS format for smaller streaming size, however when attempting to play these converted files rather than using Direct Play PLEX is electing to convert these to AAC format.
Does anyone know why this might be happening, and how/if I should even be able to DP OPUS files at this time?

As I needed to use Sync to transpose the files (meaning web download was not an option), I wrote a little script in powershell to go through the synced Items and their metadata and copy the files with proper filenames to a specified directory. Then you can sync with Plex and play them with another player that DOES cast to chromecast...
Written and tested on Windows 10
Might not be for everyone and its a workaround rather than solution but here it is, if it is of use to anyone....
Note:- you can change destination in the file, also if you have moved your sync store you will need to update $root

first time poster... is anyone having issues with this update? my server is not able to retrieve any music since this update, even though the library is stored locally on the server. Has anyone else had this issue? running on mac high sierra 10.13.1.

I will add all the relevant details such as server/client versions, firmware, models and such, but first wanted to ask generally if anybody else is experiencing the same issue.
About six months ago, Plex started exhibiting a behaviour where after resuming the app, say in the standard process of powering off the TV to standby using the remote, and powering it back on, the ability to navigate the Plex app works fine until you back to the main menu, whereby the left/right/up/down controls appear to have no function, and the yellow selection outline seems stuck on the top left of the screen. Relaunching the app, which takes only a few seconds, resolves the issue and it operates normally. It only appears to bug when resuming, and only at the main menu, as when it resumes to last played item you can navigate normally and make selections.
Re-installing the app on the Samsung smart tv did not resolve. A number of server version updates later also had no change, not that it was expected to.
I'm using Plex to host my entire music collection only.
I have ripped all my CDs in FLAC for best quality playback within the house and at some remote locations.
What I'm interested in is whether I can limit the quality, there by reduce the download size when using the Plex client on the mobile. It's a company phone and the monthly 2GB data limit isn't going to last long if I stream full FLAC quality via the client while driving/walking.

One of my files isn't ready smoothly on my client (1080p, 10b, 41.2mbps).
I tried to force transcode through pfk @ quality settings. It does not works for any 1080p quality, but works for 720p and under.

What this little app/channel can do, is simply to export your library sections into csv or xlsx files, allowing you to open up the exported files in like Excel or siml. afterwards.
It also can export posters, in the size you decide
Note: If running PMS on Windows, and exporting into xlsx format, you must be running a version above PMS V1.3! And if not, use csv output format until upgraded
Currently exports Movie, TV-Show, Audio, Photo sections as well as playlists
Do note, that when doing so, to set the encoding to UTF-8 in excel, if exporting to csv.

I have installed plex for Kodi and all seems to be ok, can see all my content etc.
However, it doesn't appear as a player in plex on my iPhone...am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to fling to the plex for Kodi?
my plex server is on windows 10 it does not update by itself ,how can I do it manualy
So Plex would not update due to "pms-shutdown.msi" I did use Revo Uninstaller to cleanup the registry. I also manually searched after a reboot for 'Plex" in the registry. I now am unable to re-install the Plex Server. Can anyone point me in the right direction please.
