Sync randomly fails with 'This media was unable to be analyzed.'

Whenever I select a show to be synced, I only have about a 50% success rate, the rest of the time it ends up with the 'This media was unable to be analyzed.' error in the sync status. What's more, to get it to retry this, I seem to have to delete the sync of the show, and try again (which means waiting for it to re-transcode even the successful episodes). Because of this, the group sync is completely useless, and I need to manually add each episode i desire to a sync on it's own, then once the failures happen, I can delete just that episode from the sync, and try again (often times working the next time).

Aside from the horrible situation where these things 'fail' with no information on why, no way to retry it, and the fact that they eventually will work with no alteration of the source file - how can this be considered a feature worth paying for?

Add network folder on a Mac to Plex Media Server running on Nvidia Shield Pro

So I have Googled all around to find a solution to this problem, but I can't find any.

My setup:
I have PMS running on Nvidia Shield. On my network I have a Mac Mini with two external hard drives mounted. I have connected the Shield to Mac Mini through "Storage & Reset" and I can confirm that I have full access to the computer by manually browsing through all the folders on the external hard drives from VLC on the Shield.

What seems to be impossible is adding the external hard drives to PMS, through the web interface. I can see the Mac Mini and local folders on the computer, but I cannot see the external hard drives. I have tried to add the UNC-path manually, but still it won't scan the folders.

Do you have any suggestions to what I should do?

HDD Keeps Disappearing

I've been using my Shield as a Plex media server for a few months now and generally speaking, when it works, it works great. But there are a few things that keep happening that bug me. I have the 16gb version with a 64gb microSD card as well as a 4tb external HDD plugged in. All media is stored on the external HDD. Everything will work fine for a few days, sometimes even over a week or two. Then all of a sudden the HDD will just not show up anymore. If I go into the Plex app on another device, I can see my library and everything, all the thumbnails are still there, but if I try to play something, I get an error message telling me to make sure the file is accessible. So I go downstairs, fire everything up, and the external HDD in Android settings doesn't show up. But if I reboot the device, everything works fine for a while again then just suddenly the external HDD doesn't show up. Makes me wish there was a way to remotely reboot the Shield when I'm not at home, as I know that the device is online since I can access the server, just not the external HDD.

Assistir filme pela rede COM FIO!

Curioso.....

Help... When using another users server it always shows as unavailable!

Hi

Me and my dad share our content and this usually works fine up until a few months ago. Now xmas is out the way my dad wants this working again.

So I can view all of his content and play it with no issues at my house but at my dads house my server is always showing as unavailable. I have trawled the internet and these forums and still can't find out what i need to do to resolve this problem so i'm sorry if this is a frequent question. Ive logged into my plex from my dads house and I can access everything that way but that eliminates using the users section.

If you need any further information i'll be happy to provide it.

Cheers

Launch Plex with Harmony Remote

Just updated to Plex Media Centre on my mac from Plex Home Theatre and can't figure out how to launch Plex using my Harmony remote. Previously you could just press the menu button on the remote.

Has anyone figured out how? Seems silly to me!

Plex SSL problems - HTTP 429 response from POST - Could not fetch certificate from the cloud

Hello everyone,

I was made aware by some friends that my Plex Server doesn't have a green lock by it's name and started a few days ago to debug why that is. My server is running a newly installed Ubuntu server 16.04 LTS (I reinstalled it because I couldn't figure this out, and have also tried both running Plex inside a docker container and locally on my Windows PC with the same result). Also tried booting up an identical VM in Digitalocean, and that works perfectly, so I figure this has to do with my network setup or something else. The problem is there both locally and remote.

I have studied the howto in https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/206225077-How-to-Use-Secure-Server-Connections
My server is now running google dns, so I guess it shouldn't be affected by the dns rebinding issue? The article also says "but some users of more advanced routers may run into issues". Is this only related to dns rebinding, or are there other "advanced features" known that will affect issuing of ssl certificates to my Plex server? Even if I don't use my router as DNS server? (I have an Ubiquiti Edgerouter 5-Port PoE router). My network setup is pretty easy, and I have ex. no problem connecting from remote to my plex server with port forwarding.

If I try setting "Secure connections" setting to disabled and then back to prefered I can see the following in my log file:
DEBUG - CERT: Certificate or intermediate did not exist, fetching a new one.
DEBUG - HTTP requesting POST https://plex.tv/devices/8bd308ee07bf9e72057379eb4476aa80b428d012/certificate?version=2&X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
DEBUG - HTTP 429 response from POST https://plex.tv/devices/8bd308ee07bf9e72057379eb4476aa80b428d012/certificate?version=2&X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ERROR - CERT: Could not fetch certificate from the cloud: 429

HTTP response code 429 means "Too many requests" according to my google searches. Could it be that I am blocked from fetching a certificate? Not sure what I could have done though. I have tried resetting my password, which triggers a token change, but not any luck with that either.

Will appreciate any help I could get on this :)

Samsung Smart TV Cant Connect locally started today

I have a Samsung 9 series TV 2016. Up until today plex has worked fine on it. Now it just wont connect to my local server running on Ubuntu. First it says to disable secure connections, done. Now it still wont connect. No idea what to do. Even entering the server manually does not let it connect. Nothing appears in the logs on the server. How do you troubleshoot this?

New Nvidia Shield Announced - 1/16 and 1/30 release dates

Looks like the specs might be staying the same but adding Google Assistant and will work with Weave technology which the Hub supports too. Could be interesting.

$200 comes with remote and controller now
$300 Pro model assuming is just a bigger hard drive.

I ordered the $200 one since someone finally has both Netflix and Amazon 4K HDR support on the same damn device haha.

Feature request : search/filter by audio and subtitle language

I have quite a bit of media with Greek audio or subtitles I use to help with my language studies. It would be a great feature if I could filter for all movies that had a given language in audio or subtitles. This would help especially for the subtitles where they are mixed in with my "normal" content, but I could see which ones are available for use as study without having to dig into each movie individually.

No DVR option in server

Hi, I've just gone and brought a HomeRun device so I can use the DVR feature. However, there is no way for me to set up the DVR in the server as per the instructions - I have no DVR option in the menu. I've just installed the latest Plex Pass version of 1.2.2.2857.

PlexMusicPlayer for Alexa - Plex music playback on Echo devices

I recently obtained an Echo Dot and was surprised to see so little support for different music stream platforms. Therefore, I made my own that allows music playback from my Plex server. Both the project and a detailed overview of the setup are provided in this blog post:

Please keep in mind that this project has only just started, so there is still a lot of room for improvement and enhancements.

DS713+ Simply Too Slow for Plex?

I'm new to Synology AND Plex, so be patient, please. Long story short, I have a DS713+ that I loaded with my movie content. This is simply where I store my media, but I sometimes access it from a multitude of devices over a hardwired connection - e.g., FireTV, WDTV, etc. All items hard-wired in my home leverages gig unless the device itslf has that limitation. Ultimately streaming anything hard-wired works with no issues.

I decided to load Plex to see if I was interested in what it offers. I did not sign up for Plex Premium at this point as I only want to trial this in-house first.

I loaded Plex on my iPad, and it sees the libraries just fine. I attempted to watch a 720p MKV of a TV show, but it consistently buffers. In a sense, it's useless.

Specs on my 713:
DS713+ Intel Atom D2700 Dual Core 4 Yes Cedarview DDR3 1 GB

I thought MKVs could either be streamed -or- transcoded. Questions:

1) Is my NAS simply not powerful enough to handle this?
2) How can I determine if I'm streaming or watching a transcoded file?
3) Assuming I AM streaming, which might be why it's buffering (?), then would transcoding resolve my issue?

I currently have a NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router, so my wireless throughput (and wired when applicable) should not be an issue. If I consider all things that could be the culprit, it seems pretty straight forward that it's either a limiatrion of the NAS (most likely) or a limitation of iOS playback capabilities. I'm hoping there's a simple solution with what I currently own and not one that requires me to purchase additional hardware.

Thanks,
Mike

Adding servers to my account

Okay, I have searched everywhere for this and no answer. I just began using Plex on my Nvidia 16gb. I started because a friend had a server set up and invited me to access his content. Now I am trying to access another server to add on but I am unable to locate where I would enter the ip adddress and port. Andyone figured this out. TIA

Paranormal Show (My Haunted House) Weird issue with naming ONE episode

I have all five seasons of this show because I LOVE paranormal shows. I have all of them. I named each episode with Filebot in the 3x02 format. All episodes show up on plex with simply the title (which is normal) except for one episode (My Haunted House - 4x05 - The Hanover Haunting). Once Plex has finished processing this, it shows the RAW file name for this episode (even though I've renamed it with filebot.) So basically, what I did, is I went to that episode and clicked edit and changed the title manually so simply read "The Hanover Haunting"........is it OK to do this? I've never renamed anything manually before and I'm not sure why plex using TVDB for this show would not name that one episode properly. Thanks

Nvidia Shield Client does not passthrough AC3

I have the server and client running on Nvidia Shield that is connected directly to my TV.

I play a video file with AC3 with VLC player on the Nvidia Shield and audio works fine, which proves the Shield itself supports AC3 passthrough.

When I play the file with the Roku Plex client accessing the Shield server, the audio works fine and the Now Playing info on the Shield server shows the file to be in "Direct Play" mode which means no transcoding. So, the Shield server is working okay.

When I play the same file with the Shield client, with Direct Play set to Auto, it transcodes the audio to AAC, which works. When I set the Direct Play to Forced, the audio doesn't work (and the server shows Direct Play mode, meaning no transcoding). Shield client settings:

  • Passthrough=Auto
  • DirectStream = On
  • Local = Original
  • Remote = Original

Plex, can you fix this bug? Below is the xml for a file with AC3 in it:

LG TV not picking up Plex anymore?

Hi Guys,
Just a little bit stuck at this one.
Currently I have a Windows 10-64 bit PC that runs as my Plex Server, and it USED to stream to my mobile, Android Box, Panasonic TV and LG TV. Both TV's are smart TV's. Too give you a clear picture, on the LG, i would go to Home > Input > PLEX MEDIA SERVER > Videos > Etc... but now it does not appear in the Input List. Everything is on the same network.
Now it only streams to my Mobile (I have the paid for Plex App on my phone) and my Android Box (It uses DNLA).
I'm not too bothered about the Panasnoic as the Android Box is connected to that, but not having it on the LG is annoying.
I have factory reset the LG TV incase it was any of the recent updates that stopped it from working, but theres no change - so that makes me think it was an update to the Plex Server itself.
The old connection from the LG to my server never asked for a password so i have made sure that I allow the static IP of the TV to talk to the Plex Media Server through Windows Firewall (i have turned this off for the time being) and I also put the IP in the "List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without authentication" Server setting on the Plex Server.
The LG TV Details are:
Model - 49UB820V-ZH
Software Version - 04.12.32
SDK Version - 03.05

My Plex Server Version is - v1.3.3.3148
Web - General - Version 2.12.5

Thanks for any help!
