Hi,
I do have some problems when streaming high-res music to my network player (a Musical Fidelity M1 CLIC).
Everything works well as long as I only stream CD-quality flac files (16bit/44.1KHz), but when streaming high-res audio (downloaded from qobuz.com) the playback sometimes stutters.
Now I am not sure where the problem is, since the M1 CLIC is known to have problems with this resolution.
However, Musical Fidelity claims that with the latest firmware (which I have installed), everything should work without problems.
When I place my music files onto a USB stick and use it to play with the M1 CLIC there is no stuttering... when streaming the same files using Plex, the playback starts to stutter.
Still... I am not a 100% sure that the Plex Media Server is the problem, since there might still be the possibility that the CLIC streaming client handles USB and LAN a bit different internally.
To be sure I checked the log files of my Plex Media Server (the file "Plex DLNA Server.log") and the output leaves me curious.
I guess there is something going wrong.
Here is the output after pressing play on the streaming client:

Therese are my observations from the log file:
And here are my questions:
Why is the audio.bitrate limitation applied?
I am on the same network... I checked my router and added plex.direct and plex.tv to allow DNS-Rebind.
If I a use plex web on the same network the server is now listed as "local".
Can I somehow prevent the limitation or is the message misleading and there is no limitation applied??
Why is there a proxied get taking place?
Shouldn't that be a direct call? Why is there a proxy?
Can I do something to speed up thing within my network (e.g. can I disable SSL within the home network only)?
Cheers,
Niko
I am troubleshooting an issue where I am unable to login to my Plex account on my server.
I was able to login when running a Plex server from my laptop, but unable to play anything due to a codec error. After some research I found that that usually means that Plex cannot fetch the required codec to play the video from a central Plex server.
So I started checking to make sure I could ping Plex.tv. No response.
I check to make sure I can ping my own website and a few others. It works fine.
I do an NSLookup on Plex.tv to get the server IPs, I get about 6 back. I try to ping them all. They all fail.
This was all on through the shell on my FreeNAS machine. So I try it on my laptop on the same network. Same results.
I assume it could be my network, so I connect through my phone's cell data. I get the same results. I cannot ping those servers for some reason. I have no clue why. And that means my server will not play anything. How can I get this to work again?
The sync issues, the not being marked watched issues, the not being able to be able to switch between this device and the server, etc have gone on forever and there was someone working on it. Now there is no communication and no updates. Has it been abandoned?
perhaps because the name "interview" is also a local media asset?
yes it's ripped as multi-channel mkv. I add it (now several times) and within 20 mins or so it has a trashcan on it, media is not deleted.
For some reason I cannot fathom some of my TV shows do not have an option to match.
Example with "Match"

All are recently added to the library.
I have deleted/moved some files from one hard drive to another and still shows up in the library. i have a windows 10, plex media version 1.5.6. if anyone could shed some light that would be great.
Would anyone be so kind as to provide a channel for TFC? My wife would love to be able to browse her favorite TV shows and Filipino movies without having to browse to this website or pay for it through our TV provider.
TFC has a paywall on it, which is absolutely fine. I am not looking to get this content for free (although, free is pretty awesome) just as long as I can configure the channel to provide my user/pass.
They provide a free trial, which hopefully is enough to get this setup. If additional paid account(s) are necessary to facilitate developing this channel, I would gladly discuss the requirements with you.
Website: http://tfc.tv/
I mostly use Plex Web, or Plex for android.
Thank you so very much in advance. Would help me cut the cord to my TV provider which charges me more for TFC than the website would charge, the website just isn't as convenient. Having it on Plex would change that.
Cheers,
TnT
Hello,
I just bought a new smartphone Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017).
First app: Plex :-)
Now, when playing movies, I noticed that some movies induce transcoding at server side.
The only common property is that they all have an AC3 sound track.
My phone is capable of playing the movie without need for transcoding: on my same server, I'm running also Emby (yeah, yeah, I know...). If I start the emby-app on the same phone, the movie plays smoothly, without need for transcoding.
Are there some settings in the Android app to avoid transcoding when not needed?
I already set
App --> settings --> advanced
Subtitles -->
Burn subtitles --> automatic
Player -->
[ ] Audio Passtrough
[ ] Use Android mediaplayer
[x] Device supports AC-3
[x] Device supports E-AC-3
Plex Media Server Version 1.7.5.4035
Any suggestions?
Kind regards,
Bart
Hello,
I noticed that the "resume" function does not work on my rasplex client OpenPHT(1.8.0)@RaspberryPi(3). Server on version 1.7.4.4017
Same OpenPHT client on WIN10 works perfect: I can stop/start/resume
If I want to resume on my RasPlex client, it indicates that it should start on time x, but it starts actually at the beginning. So the client "knows" the starttime, but ignores it.
When pressing the movie library, the plex server opens its setting. Even hovering the Movie library shows the link to the setting. What should I do to fix this?
Just wanted to throw this out there to those who are interested. This plugin allows you to stream live TV from NextPVR - it's based on some of the code psyciknz wrote for NextPVR-Plex but mine only streams live TV. plex-npvr can handle subchannels (4.1,4.2, etc...) and the ability to have broadcaster logos displayed on the channel listing.
See GitHub for more info:

Didn't mean that as a question
I am officially forking the HTTP Anidb Metadata Agent (HAMA) made by Atomicstraberry and posted here: http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/66918-release-http-anidb-metadata-agent-hama/After having concerted with him by mail, i will take over but give due feedback, as he created it, and i would and could not have done it without his code first, as i didn't know Python before. Great language by hte way!!!
As discussed with him:
The readme is located here:https://github.com/ZeroQI/Hama/blob/master/README.mdIt will indicate the changes since v0.4Major changes:
This should prevent AniDB banning, since no search is done, no poster is downloaded, just the serie XML by ID.I will modify this post with any new releases, i am polishing out the bugs for now:
You can browse the source code and replace it in place of v0.4 as a beta, but the XML files need to be in Resources folder at the same level as code one
See github readme, that's the most recent one
How it works
==========
Scanners show the files or not in plex. if it's not showing, it's the scanner fault
Agent when files are showing update the metadata. This agent:
. match the title to the AniDB Database locally (no online query to AnidDB to prevent getting banned for a day). It use synonyms, and search titles in all languages. you can select the language order in plugin settings
. use xml matching table to fing the TVDB serie ID.
. use posters from ANiDB (off by default, because they are crap but the only source for Hentai posters) or by default TVDB (use high res constant resolution posters, but do not store Hentai, have fanart and seasons posters as well)
. The XML mapping file comes from the XBMC AniDB mod plugin and all xmls are cached 2 weeks and downloaded automatically
. Use TheTVDB for Anime Episode summaries (AniDB seem to not use summaries for episodes)
. Use theme songs from Plex server (backlog of 2 years, no need to update themes for now) indexed on thetvdb id. I store them locally using the anidb id if you want to create your own packages (and share?) and therefore you can have the right season music theme song...
. logs like missing episodes are generated, also contain links to update episode summaries and missing posters... Give back digitally to the community...

For some reason my videos are not able to show chapter / video previews while scrubbing the timeline. I've made sure that server -> Library _> generate chapter thumbnails & generate video thumbnails are both set to "as a scheduled task and when media is added". I've then gone to each library and made sure it's enabled. I've then analyzed each library. I did somehow have luck with one video, but I don't know what I did to get that to work other than analyze that one video directly. I then tried refreshing every library and analyzing again to no avail. I'm watching on my Chrome browser on a PC, and a PS4 using the Plex app. Any clues?
Hi,
This is a bug report.
I have been using Plex for about a year now on many different platforms, but within the last few weeks my Samsung TV (model UE50KU6075XXE - bought in January 2017) has displayed subtitles out of sync - sometimes up to 10-20 seconds off. This does not happen when watching the movie from the beginning; only when resuming a movie in a later session. Sometimes it fixes it (or at least gets better) if I toggle the subtitle language within the app or stop and the start the movie again. Note that when I do this on other platforms (e.g. Android or Chromecast) the subtitles work fine and are in perfect sync. Note also that I have only tried this with external .srt files - it may also occur of internal subtitles but I have not tried that.
It seems that the out-of-sync offset is related to the time it takes to start the movie. So if the server is slow to react the out-of-sync offset is bigger.
I am running latest server on my QNAP NAS (1.5.5.3634) and the TV auto updates to latest version of the client.
Please let me know if you need any other information or let me know if there is anything I can do.
Thank you.
I'm having an issue where TV shows (And only TV shows) are not correctly loading metadata. The descriptions, ratings, etc of the shows are downloaded properly, but the artwork fails to load.
This was working previously and the file/folder structure has not changed at all. I simply did a fresh OS install and Plex install
I've used many different client apps to access my Plex server in the past. The Plex app for Samsung Smart TV, Plex app for iOS, and of course the Plex Home Theater in my browser. They all have the ability to sort movies by various parameters like:
-Date added
-Release date
-Date viewed
-Name
-Rating
-Resolution
-Duration
But the Plex app for Apple TV doesn't seem to offer this feature. Either that or I'm missing something very obvious. I can easily view Collections and filter movies on Apple TV, but they're always sorted alphabetically by default and I can't seem to find any way to sort them by something else.
This is extremely annoying for many obvious reasons. Why is this not possible on Apple TV?
Nexus 6P
Android 7.0
Client 4.31.2.310 (7deaa753)
When listen to music on my phone, playback occasionally gets stuck. The only way to fix this is to skip forward/back a song. Seeking does not fix the issue. I have reproduced this issue consistently both while stream and playing locally synced content. Please advise on a fix for this bug.
Hi,
What happens when you unmatch an item in your library? And what is it for?
Does unmatch constitute a manual change on that item?
Why does the option exist? I mean, why have unmatched items in your library?
What is the point of that? I think Fix Match would be a better option.
So.. What I am asking is, what does the command unmatch
actually do? And how does it help the users of Plex?
Thanks
