when casting to a TV via chromecast, plex app rotates the screen, even when the phone is rotation locked.
the phone is not playing anything, content is in the TV, but for some reason the app thinks it's playing the video and acts like it.
Certain photos do not display on the Roku's Plex App (gray screen with "Unable to Load Photo" error message), while others display fine. Seems to be all photos taken with regular point-and-shoot cameras fail, while pictures taken on a smart phone display properly. The same photos do not display a thumbnail, instead showing a gray square.
All photos display properly in Plex web app viewed from browser, and all photos happen to be jpegs.

Does anybody know in which cases would Plex burn in SRT subtitles when streaming?
As I explicitly set to burn only image format subtitles. Actually for some media it burns the SRT subtitles and for some it don't.

I've got subtitles disabled server side, and also on the android app setting.
i've also manually picked None during playback.
but video casted to the TV has subtitles.
When I view photos in the web client, the sides are cropped so that the image looks like a square. If I view the same image using the Home Theater app this does not happen. I have a library full of nice desktop-sized photos that I'd like to randomly use but the cropping is horrible. Is there any way to modify this behavior?
Hi, just joined the forum as I am tired of trying so many different things listed on google to get my Plex channels to work, even just one of them.
Can anyone help. I have had plex for a few days now and am yet to sit down and actually watch anything! =(

I noticed than with videos (mostly MKVs) with more than one audio language track it is not possible to change the audio track from the drop-down menu while playing the movie (it will not show the available tracks). To perform this task I would have to go back to the movie screen, go into the playback settings menu and select the audio track there. Same happens with subtitles (internal or external).
My current setting as of today is
1. 4 Amazon fire sticks distributed throughout the house
2. Synology NAS 1813 with 8 TB of movies
3. Plex media server
The problem is I cant watch movies except if I use a lower bitrate which is fine but I occasionally want to make use of the best resolution I have.
Should I upgrade my synology and if YES to what model ?? , or is there an alternate workaround or add-on that would help fix this issue.

i just bought the Plex Pass Lifetime ... but if i want to Sync a TV Series, it starts to transcode it? It takes hours ... i just want to sync the original file to my Phone .. just like if i watch it per stream in Original .. Than its not get transcoded ... what do i wrong? and btw. the app slows my Handy so extreme that i deleted it ... just started sync and camera upload ... stopped both and closed app and still slow as hell??

I am able to connect to PLEX via my iPad app but when I attempt to connect via PLEX.tv on my desktop it says that the server is unavailable. When I attempt to connect on my desktop via the QNAP NAS PLEX app it also says it can't reach the page. Help please! It was working fine until recently.

I installed the plex manually on my WD mycloud ultra, and at the beginning it worked fine. For some reason, one day it disappeared. So i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app with no avail... the app would run from my NAS however I can only see the server on my local PC and I cannot see the NAS server running.
Did anyone face this?
PS: DLNA is enabled in settings and no passwords on the shows category.
Just bought a new Lenovo tab 2 A8 specifically to watch Plex media offline. Bought a new Micro SD card and cannot select it as a storage device in the Plex app. I read about a lot of problems like these with KitKat but not a lot with 5.1
Thoughts? Tried everything I could think of without rooting the device. Why is there no manual/advanced options for selecting a directory?
Just bought plex pass for this specific use. Hope there's a fix!?

WD Mycloud Ultra. Installed the app but the server would not show.. only shows the server on my local PC. DLNA is enabled, no passwords and firewalls. Why can't it see the NAS Plex server.

Hola, tengo varios problemas a la hora de conectarme desde fuera de mi casa.
- La configuración del servidor directamente me da siempre que el servidor es inaccesible desde fuera de la red local a pesar de que plex abre correctamente los puertos en el router por uPnP, incluso los he abierto manualmente pero no hay nada que hacer, me conecto desde fuera a myplex con mi usuario y me dice que no encuentra ningún servidor. He probado todas las recomendaciones de la web, lo único que no he probado es lo de la doble NAT que no sé como averiguar si ese es mi problema.
- Ahora viene la segunda parte, tengo tres bibliotecas (cine, series y música) las cuales he compartido con un amigo para hacer pruebas y lo curioso es que a él si le aparece mi servidor aunque sólo le aparece la biblioteca de cine, me voy a la configuración de amigos y efectivamente sólo me deja compartir esa biblioteca las otras dos ni aparecen.
¿Alguna idea de qué hago mal?

Synology just released as new NAS, the DS3617xs. I want to let people know that if they were considering the DS3617xs over the DS3615xs that technically speaking there is only one difference in regards to Plex usage and that is the CPU. I own both units and have completely dismantled them for hardware comparison. Everything inside and out are identical with the exception of the CPU and cooler. Of course the motherboard is updated to handle the FCBGA1667 socket, but other than that they are the same. Yes the DS3617xs can run with 48Gb instead of 32Gb of the DS3615xs, but Plex does not need much memory to do any of its work. I think I max'd out at around 2Gb with a full load from Plex. I have 4Gb installed.
The DS3615xs uses a i3-4130 Haswell CPU and the DS3617xs uses a Xeon® Processor D-1527. Now several months ago I decided to upgrade my DS3615xs with a faster CPU. I found the best CPU to be a Xeon E3-1246L v3 Haswell. I could have shelled out another $400 and got the Xeon E3-1286L v3, but he spec were not that much higher and did not warrant the extra cash.

You will need to upgrade the CPU cooler as well. I used the Noctua NH-D9L. Key here is the socket support (FCLGA1150). Now I could have gone with a i7-4765T, but it lack the higher CPU clock speed, 3Ghz vs 3.9Ghz in turbo mode. Base frequency is about 1.5Ghz in difference. Even the DS3617xs' CPU has a slower base frequency of the DS3615xs by 1.2Ghz
There is about $1,000 difference with both units current availability and you can pickup the Xeon E3-1246L v3 for about $370 on Amazon and the Noctua NH-D9L for $55. Unit runs around 40C at full load with this setup.

uptcreek711 has activated the network logging. Plex doesn't recognize any music category on my internal or external card and will not sync either one...Please post provide a fix.
As a user for the last couple of years I find this a very cumbersome way to get your attention to fix a problem
The problem affects only slideshows started by channels.
In the last versions of Webplayer (https://app.plex.tv/web/app) the slideshow showed cropped photos. The newest version 3.9.0 does not start at all.
After some tests with different parameters I compared two sessions:
I traced the last steps until start of slideshow with chrome's developer-tools. The HAR-output of v3.9.0 shows the call of the last picture in the overview and then closes with a stacktrace from Javascript vendors-1-05ee7eb11f0adf375042-plex-3.9.0-2e66adb.js.
In the attached file the one,-line-trace-output is manually line-breaked.
The last part of trace shows "TypeError: Cannot read property 'length' of undefined".
Could someone help me to run the slideshow in 3.9.0?

I have tried every possible setting under Settings->Languages. If I for example set it to Espanol, it chooses the proper subtitle. Not EVERYONE who wants english subtitles are native english speaking. They want subs all the time, not forced. What to do? Please. This is really bugging me
