Plex on Sony Bravia ZD9 problem

Hello to all,

Usually don't post or ask questions in forums unless I have exhausted every other avenue, but this one has me scratching my head for so long - more than a month now - that I feel like I have no choice!

I am using Plex Server and Plex Android - on a PC server based on Windows 10 and Sony Bravia ZD9 based on Android TV respectively - for playing back video files over the local home network. Everything works like a charm on 1080p material but I am having a lot of trouble streaming 2160p files without heavy buffering/stuttering. Funny thing is, not all 4K files are unplayable... but I cannot find an obvious reason why. It's not the bitrate, for instance, or the codec involved. It seems to be almost arbitrary.

Specs: Fast Ethernet from PC server to router, Fast Ethernet router, Gigabit Ethernet from main home router to home cinema router, Fast Ethernet from home cinema router to Bravia. Theoretically Fast Ethernet should be enough for playing back 4K files without transcoding, which I do not want to use (full duplex Fast Ethernet reaches almost 90 Mbps in practice) and, in any case, since the ZD9's Ethernet port is of the 10/100 Mbps variant that's what I have to play with.

If the network infrastructure I use or ZD9's Ethernet port is indeed the problem (or the hard disks inside the PC server - is there a chance that this could be the real culprit?), could Plex use any form of buffering in order to offer smooth streaming on 4K? The PC server also has an SSD disk, could that be used for buffering?

Thanks in advance!
