x265 Movie Extras and x265 Videos inside a picture library are transcoded instead of Direct Played

Hi,

I am running PMS 1.3.3.3148, in a QNAP NAS HS-251+ with QTS 4.3.2.0050, viewing in a 2015 Samsung UE43J5500 with Plex app 2.007.

I try to use HEVC x265 as much as possible to find a better compromise between image quality and file size. The movies look great, direct playback is mostly flawless, subtitles are passed on to the TV, so there is no transcoding. It's mostly magic. I want to direct play everything in the mentioned TV, so as to not defeat the purpose of using x265 in the first place.

x265 movies are direct played flawlessly but a featurette or extra for a given movie, using the same codec, is transcoded. This happens when playback is set both to auto and direct play. In both cases, the movie is direct played and the featurette is transcoded.

This is Mediainfo for the movie:
Format : HEVC
Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding
Format profile : Main 10@L4@Main
Codec ID : V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC
Duration : 2 h 1 min
Bit rate : 3 228 kb/s
Width : 1 920 pixels
Height : 1 036 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 1.85:1
Frame rate mode : Constant
Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS
Color space : YUV
Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0
Bit depth : 10 bits
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.068
Stream size : 2.74 GiB (90%)
Writing library : x265 2.2+22-20217c8af8ac:[Windows][GCC 6.2.0][64 bit] 10bit

This is mediainfo for the featurette:
Format : HEVC
Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding

Codec ID : V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC
Duration : 27 min 19 s
Bit rate : 1 497 kb/s
Width : 1 888 pixels
Height : 1 016 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 1.85:1
Frame rate mode : Constant
Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS
Color space : YUV
Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0
Bit depth : 10 bits
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.033
Stream size : 293 MiB (95%)
Writing library : x265 2.2+22-20217c8af8ac:[Windows][GCC 6.2.0][64 bit] 10bit

A similar thing happens with x265 videos inside of Picture Libraries. The video will be transcoded instead of direct played. If the same video is viewed from a video library the file is direct played.

I want to use a picture type library for my home videos and pictures, because the navigation and viewing is so much attractive and functional. This way, I can put all related movies and pictures in a folder, the folder shows a thumbnail and everything is organised. Having separate video and picture libraries makes finding things that little bit tougher, and you are not sure when viewing one type of content, if there is any of the other type. And, using a video type library, pictures are ignored and folders do not show a thumbnail.

Is there anything I am missing? Any ideas?

Thanks,
