Everything is being transcoded

I tried using Plex before but dropped it because it wanted to transcode absolutely everything. But I thought that it might have changed, but no....
No matter what files I try, it tries to f*cking transcode it. It don't get why it's so poorly made, it drives me nuts.

I don't ever want Plex to transcode, is it really not possible to completely disable transcoding?!

Okay, dont with the rant about **** coding. I like the UI so I'm willing to give it another go. Here's the setup:

  • Synology DS1813+

  • NVIDIA Shield TV

  • Google Chromecast Ultra
  • LG 65" 4K (Shield), LG 42" FullHD (CC Ultra)

Okay, so playing from Kodi on the Shield works perfect. No matter what files, whether its x264 or x265, it just works! Direct streaming everything.
Trying the DS Video app from Synology everything, apart from videos with DTS or x265, works flawlessly - no matter if it's on the Shield or the CC Ultra.

However.... trying Plex on either device results in utter sh*t. Amazing.
The files I've tried with:

File #1 (7.41 GB, 22m)
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x1080 24fps (h264 high L4.0, yuv420p, 1920x1080)
Audio: DTS 48000Hz stereo 1536kbps (dts, 48000 Hz, stereo, 1536 kb/s)
Subtitle: UTF-8 [S: English [eng] (srt)]

File #2 (90 MB, 1h20m)
Video: HVC1 1280x720 23.976fps [V: hevc main, yuv420p, 1280x720]
Audio: AAC 48000Hz stereo [A: Stereo [eng] (aac he-aac, 48000 Hz, stereo)
Subtitle: UTF-8 [S: English [eng] (srt)]

File #3 (4.36 GB, 1h23m)
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x720 23.976fps (h264 high L4.1, yuv420p, 1280x720)
Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz stereo 384kbps [A: English [eng] (ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, 384 kb/s)

I've set the subtitles transcode setting to "only image formats".

So.. how do I get Plex to stop being massively worse than Kodi or DS Video ?
