Nvidia Shield - The Best Option?

Hi,

I currently use plex on my Samsung Smart TV using the Smart Hub app.

I have recently upgraded my home theater system to include an Atmos/DTS-X capable receiver.

I now want to be able to stream my ripped bluray collection with lossless sound. I have searched around and it seesm my only realistic option for this is either Nvidia Shield or the popcorn Hour Vten.

I have been reading that the plex app on the Nvidia Shield has issue with passthrough of DTS HD MA and TrueHD, but that the Shield supports this and that the plex developers are working on a solution for this.

So with this in mind is the Shield the best option for my setup?

My library consists of raw bluray rips in MKV format with some in 3D (does the shield support 3D MKV?). I run my plex server on a ReadyNAS 104, so I need the shield to be able to direct play everything. Currently my Samsung TV does this. My only reason for moving away is the limitations of optical and arc audio, to passthrough anything above AC3 and DTS.

Suggestions are most welcome.
