Hello, I'm having constant buffering issues when Roku tries to play 720p @ 60fps content. This issue affect both 720p and 1080p content i'm trying to play. Shows like The Daily Show, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Bill Maher etc. all suffer from this. The plex web app can deal with those pretty easily but Roku have a hard time playing those. At first I thought this was mostly the player's issue (Roku Streaming stick) but i experience the same issue with Roku 3 wich is supose to have more processing power. I can disable the transcoding when trying to play these contents on both device but direct streaming won't play AC3 audio on the streaming stick. I would like to point out that both my devices are playing and transcoding much higher quality 1080p at high bitrate without any issue. I'm pretty much in a constant testing environment which sucks. I need some advice on how to deal with this. I really don't want to use a script to convert everything i have to AAC just for better compatibility or even reencode 60 fps stuff down to 30fps. If it comes to that I will be better off switching to a mini-pc to install a plex client or even go with Kodi.
Am i just doomed with Roku and switch to a mini-pc or is there something i can do with my setup to improve the playablilty of my stuff?
Some hardware/software info (server side):
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93GHz
Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS
Plex Web app Version 2.6.1 / Server Version 0.9.16.6
This setup is on a VM to which i have dedicated 8 cores and 4 GB of RAM. It use to be 2 cores @ 2GB but since the change i have not seen any improvements.
I know this processor isn't top of the line anymore but it does transcode everything else without any buffering issue.
