I've been having these issues pretty much since I've started the Plex media server on the Qnap. I have about 600 movies, 10 or 11 entire seasons of TV shows, all in 1080P and thousands of pictures. I have a TB left of storage and 16GB memory installed. 4TB on one side, the other empty. I've looked into putting in a SSD but while on the phone with QNAP support I was told that this was something on their side that they are looking into fixing it in a future firmware update..then I got this email.
Hi Michael,
From the kernel log, the out of memory is caused by Plex relative processes.
<3>[22287.795258] Out of memory: Kill process 3525 (Plex Media Scan) score 907 or sacrifice child
<3>[22287.803624] Killed process 3525 (Plex Media Scan) total-vm:27668156kB, anon-rss:7300868kB, file-rss:2928kB
<4>[22288.761414] python invoked oom-killer: gfp_mask=0x2040d0, order=0, oom_score_adj=0
<6>[22288.769020] python cpuset=/ mems_allowed=0
Just for testing purpose, please kindly disable Plex see whether issue still persist.
If issue disappear after disabling Plex, please kindly contact Plex for further support.
QNAP App system changed from 32 bits (in firmware 4.2) to 64 bits (in firmware 4.3).
Thus if issue disappear after disable Plex, it should be Plex developer side has to improve 64 bits Plex Server.
However, if QNAP start to kill other processes after disabling Plex, please take a screen shots of the log, and reply to the ticket.
Thank you for cooperation

If anyone can give me some guidelines to go by or maybe push (shove) me in the right direction. I bought this device back in April so any return's are out of the window at this point. Thanks for your input.
