After years of using straight MKVs from MakeMKV, I finally determine good Handbrake settings and encoded all my content. However, I recently discovered that many of those files now won't play. I encoded them straight to another MKV file with the same name. Now, roughly 70% of the files I've tried are failing to play. Note that they play fine with VLC.
I'm guessing the problem is that plex needs to fully refresh the library with new settings as the file has the exact same name but is now different. I'm not quite sure how to do that.
The error code is as follows:
"Conversion failed. The transcoder crashed or failed to start up. Its exit code was 1"
Plex version is Version 1.2.7.2987.
Note this is the DVR Beta version. If necessary, I can provide more information.
Also, I would prefer to do this without losing other settings like users and permissions.
