[LG TV & Synology] Certain files causing CPU to overload causing stuttering playback

I am not sure if this is a LG TV app issue, or if it is a Synology NAS issue, so i am posting in both sections. If a Mod/Admin feels certain it is one or the other, please let me know and I will delete the unnecessary "duplicate" thread.

Setup:

  • Synology 1513+ (4GB Ram)
  • Linksys E4200 v1 (Advanced Tomato 2.9-131)
  • LG 55EC9300-CA (5.00.15, Web OS 1.4.0-2507)
  • Plex Server 0.9.12.18.1520-6833552 (on the Synology NAS)
  • Plex Client 2.4.34 (on the LG TV)
  • Cat 6 cables (5m or less) used for all connections

Problem:
I've been running Plex for many many years. A few months ago I got a new 55EC9300, and decided to retire my hot and loud MacPro. I've been running the Plex for LG app the whole time, following along with latest updates there as well as for the client on the Synology. Most of the time, Plex works beautifully with only a few random problem files. But recently it seems to be more and more files having a problem. The same problem.

After investigation, it appears certain files are causing the CPU of the NAS to spike up to 90% or more, which then leads to the CPU overloading and causing stuttering playback on the video. The video will pause showing 3 dots, and then resume play a few seconds later. Only to pause again less than a minute later. This will continue for the duration of the film.

I have further tested these troublesome files using the LG SmartShare app and there is zero problems streaming from the NAS using this SmartShare. The CPU runs as normal with no overloading. This makes me think it is an LG TV app issue, but I'm no Rocket Scientist so I wont count out the possibility that it could be a server issue as well.

Notes:
1. This ONLY happens on movie files. None of my TV shows or Music Videos cause problems despite all being 1080p MKV files with similar bitrates and audio codecs.
2. Ive made sure the files are h.264 (not h.265 since the NAS can not playback the h.265), and ensured they are level 4.2 or lower since the LG can only handle 4.2 or lower.
3. RAM is not effected and remains at 20-50%
4. Network traffic up/down is not effected and remains at 1-4 MB/s

Example of OK File's:

MKV Codec: H264; Bitrate: 9642 kbps; Frame Rate: 24p; Bit Depth: 8; Level: 4.1; Audio: DCA 5.1
MKV Codec: H264; Bitrate: 9957 kbps; Frame Rate: 24p; Bit Depth: 8; Level: 4.1; Audio: AC3 5.1

Example of PROBLEM File's:

MKV Codec: H264; Bitrate: 9514 kbps; Frame Rate: 24p; Bit Depth: 8; Level: 4.1; Audio: AC3 5.1
MKV Codec: H264; Bitrate: 14787 kbps; Frame Rate: 24p; Bit Depth: 8; Level: 4.1; Audio: DCA 5.1
