Why does my video not play properly?!

I have been playing files using the Windows App which I just activated however a file of mine doesn't seem to work properly. The file type is 1080p, H.264 with 5.1 DTS Surround Sound. After a few seconds of playing, a message comes up showing:

"We are having trouble playing this video. Please check your playback setup."

In the Status Menu of the Server, it shows the video is Transcoding (throttled) with the Video Direct Streamed and Audio Trancoding (aac).

I tested the same file with VLC with no problems, and also with Plex Home Theatre with no problems (with the server showing Direct Play). I do prefer using PHT but the only problem playing through PHT is that the video is too dark (crushed blacks) compared to the Windows App and also VLC - is there any way to combat this?

Also if there is any other info you need I'll try and provide it. Thanks in advance.
