Every time I add a series to a playlist, and every way I've tried, what ends up on the list are individual episodes of the series, not the series as a single entity.
Aside from being just excessive (who wants dozens and dozens of things on the list?) it's actually useless, since the episodes in the playlist are either titled with the title of the episode itself, or just "episode 2" without any indication of ****what series**** these episodes are from! Anywhere!
This is such a fundamentally bad way of doing things that I am assuming that it is somehow my error, that I have done something wrong with a setting or something. I certainly hope this is the case... I use playlists primarily as a way to single out things for the OTHER plex users to watch, not for me. I am the one who manages the Plex I don't need my own playlists. So if there is an alternative way to somehow do that, to single out things to a simple list for other users, great, I'd love to know the details!
