I have a Roku Streaming Stick (UK model, aka Roku player 3500x) and for the most part, Plex works well. However, when I play videos with certain audio types, such as EAC3 5.1 and DTS 5.1, there is no sound. The Roku Streaming Stick is plugged in to my TV, a Sony KDL-32W5500 which supports Dolby Digital and has a 5.1 Channel Audio Out, but I don't have any speakers plugged in.
On the Roku Streaming Stick, the Audio mode is set to "Auto (Dolby D)" and the HDMI is set to "Auto detect" and the detected mode is Dolby D. I have also tried setting the Audio mode to "Stereo" and the HDMI to "PCM-Stereo", but I get the same issue. The Plex App for Roku is version 4.3.0 and I have Direct Play set to "Force" (my server isn't powerful enough to do a full transcode) and Allow Direct Stream is ticked. I am running Plex Media Server for Windows, version 1.4.3.3433 on a low powered computer (Acer Aspire R3610).
If my TV can't handle the audio, I would hope that Plex's Partially-Transcoded Direct Stream feature would kick in and transcode the audio track.
