Last Update Messed Things Up

After visiting many forums and asking lots and lots of questions, I think I finally found the root of my problem.
I was asking why my Roku no longer could see my Plex library and here is what I finally found (it does make since).

If you updated your Plex server recently, they added a feature that blocks any connection that doesn't use HTTPS. So fix this your have to add your old Roku to an exception list in the settings. Find the IP address of your Roku and added to the list. I think, they might be an option to ignore any non-encrypted connection over local networks.

I am not sure why this would be done but I know it has to messing up a lot of people if they are no more pc savvy than I am. I have no idea how to make this correction so that I can watch movies again on my Plex software.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit and I know Roku is connected to the internet because I can watch other things from the internet.
If someone can shed some light on this I would appreciate it very much. Perhaps there is some plan to correct this in the near future? I sure hope so because I really miss not being able to use Plex.

Thanks very much for any help
