How does plex detect whether the server is remote or nearby?
My laptop is plugged into a switch which my Plex VM is also connected to (through a virtual NIC). If I browse to https://10.0.0.8:32400/web, Plex shows that the server is nearby. If I browse to https://vmhostname:32400/web, the server is shown as "remote". This is interesting because vmhostname resolves to 10.0.0.8.
Additionally, if I try to use plex from app.plex.tv, it can't connect to my server at all. The last time I set plex up, last year, I believe I was able to use app.plex.tv to access my server while I was on the LAN, even if port fowarding was disabled.
Does anyone know what would cause these problems?
