So, I have had Plex running at home just fine for ages running behind Linksys and Apple Airport Extreme firewalls. Today I tried to install a new Cisco Meraki MX64, and for the life of me could not get it to work. I have a fair bit of networking experience so I can't imagine I did something wrong on the firewall configuration side.
Essentially, I had the firewall configured to map port 32400 on the external firewall interface to port 32400 on the IP of the internal Plex server. Configured like this, nothing externally could connect to the Plex, and the server showed as not accessible to the outside network. I also selected to manually specify the public port, but absolutely nothing would work. When looking at the Plex server settings, it would always show that both the public and private IPs were unknown.
I'd appreciate any help in troubleshooting this, as I would REALLY like to be able to use the Meraki as my home firewall.
