Streaming issues over Wireless after Windows 10 Anniversary Update

It may be some kind of coincidence, I'm not sure. I have been streaming multiple gig videos in HD from my PC upstairs to my PS4 for a long time now (seems like a couple years since it became possible). I have never had any issue watching very high quality movies and TV shows etc streamed over WiFi. My PC and router both do 802.11n and 802.11ac. I can get download and upload speeds on the Internet at around 50Mbps. For some reason, after the recent Windows 10 Update supposedly called the 'anniversary update', I have been having issues streaming video. First the video hitches, then is races forward to catch up, then it seems to normalize for a bit but the rotating circular loading icon comes on in the middle of the screen and never seems to go away. Sometimes the show will look great for 5 minutes but with that stupid icon spinning and spinning. Then it will hitch again and sometimes get progressively worse. It has gotten to the point where it is unwatchable at times. I've tried videos which worked before... same thing. I've updated the USB drivers for the WiFi USB adapter I'm using. I've uninstalled the drivers and tried the chipset drivers. I've made several tweaks and attempts, things seem to get a bit better and then it happens again. Sometimes I change the transcode quality from 'original' to '720p' which helps a bit... but I want to stream good quality like I always have for years; it also doesn't stop the problem, just makes it less frequent. I have a top of the line PC, fast wireless... and I'm a Network Engineer... not some clueless non-technical guy. Anybody have any suggestions?
