Movies with VC-1 (VC1) codec badly pixelated, flashing

I am experiencing major issues with movies encoded with the VC-1 (VC1) codec.  I have narrowed it down to that specific codec and eliminated audio as the issue.

I have attached a log file, in which I:

1. Started PHT

2. Played a movie encoded with AVC video and TrueHD audio.  Played fine.

3. Played a movie encoded with VC-1 video and TrueHD audio.  Video was badly pixelated and flashing, audio played fine.  Played at the proper speed (not 3 FPS audio issue).

4. Quit PHT and saved log (which is attached)

I then played the movie with VC-1 video on my WD TV Live, and it played perfectly (direct-played, not transcoded).  So the movie is not messed up.

Both movies are direct Blu-Ray rips, with no transcoding (exact original copies of video and audio streams).  They are both in MKV containers.

My PMS is an Intel Synology NAS, running version 0.9.9.2.

My PHT is running on Win 8.1 x64.  It is an Intel i5-4520U Haswell processor with the Intel HD 5000 integrated graphics.  It is connected via HDMI 1.4a to a Pioneer Elite SC-65 receiver.

All components connected on wired 1GB network, so there are no network latency issues.

I think that covers everything, but I'd be happy to provide additional information needed.

P.S., I don't want to get the issue confused, but I do notice that most non-VC1 codec TV shows and movies I play flash green for about a half-second when they are first played, before the screen returns to a normal display.  I wonder if this is normal, or perhaps is related to the problem I'm having with VC1-encoded movies?
