I am trying to direct play (on the NVIDIA SHIELD) blu-ray quality mkv files, and I am literally unable to play files that are VC-1 video with Dolby TrueHD for audio. It plays for a few seconds and stutters, then says "server not powerful enough to transcode... try original quality" even though I have it set for original quality. I know that TrueHD isn't yet supported on the NVIDIA SHIELD and must be transcoded, but I thought VC-1 could be direct played and it would seem that it cannot be when there's a TrueHD audio track.
Titles with VC-1 and a different audio track seem to play fine, and H.264 videos with TrueHD seem to play fine (with the audio transcoded).
Is this behavior expected? Are there plans to support VC-1 in hardware in future updates??
