Hello everyone! I'm really struggling here so any help would be appreciated. Sorry in advance because I know this topic has been done to death but I have read every thread and tried all suggestions but have had no success. So, here are the facts:
I have a Synology 1817+ NAS. It runs Plex and the server address is 192.168.1.17 (I believe this is a static IP).
I also have an openVPN configuration through "Control Panel->Network->Network Interface" (this appears to assign a different IP address each time it connects). Login credentials come from UseNetServer for VPN access.
The modem/router is a D-link DSL-4320L connected to a PPPoE Fibre connection. Port 32400 has been forwarded both TCP and UDP. Despite this, canyouseeme.org cannot see this port as open. I am consistently met with a "connection timed out" message. The modem/router appears to support UPnP.
The NAS firewall is currently deactive (I have previously created a rule allowing all ports from all locations, but this didnt seem to work).
The NAS has Antivirus Essential which I have tried both on and off but still no success with connecting to Plex outside my network.
Currently, Plex shows my public IP as 173.245.209.51 (although I have seen this as 173.245.209.50). I have tried manually specifying a port for Plex (32400), this doesnt seem to work. I have also let Plex choose the port and this changes each time I try to connect however I was still unable to connect outside my network.
I have also tried adding IP/netmask entries to "List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth" within the Plex settings.
The frustrating thing is that when the VPN is disconnected, remote access connects and my server is visible outside the network.
Sorry for the novel but I wanted to provide as much information as possible. Thanks so much for any advice/information/direction. I'm tearing my hair out over this one!
