I finally after much noodling around, got my Chromecast Ultra streaming from my Plex server a 4K HEVC HDR movie to my Vizio M55-D0 and life was great... watched a whole movie and breathed a sigh of relief. That was until I tried playing back a movie that required subtitles (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets MKV, I do not speak alien unfortunately so subtitles would be nice.)
As soon as I turn on any of the 6 embedded subtitles suddenly my video goes from direct play to transcoding and I lose the HDR10. Normally it transcodes the DTS-HD or Atmos to AC3 which I'm fine with but the transcoding video ain't going to work. I've seen a few posts but nothing substantial on this issue. I've tried popping over an external SRT file but it still does it. I could burn the subs right into the movie with handbrake maybe but I dunno if that'd screw the HDR10 metadata or if it'd take 18 days on my 8GB AMD A10-5700. I'm hoping someone has some insight into this. HELP!
