Exoplayer 2 is great. It just works (at least for me). I haven't had any issues playing any of the Video files I have (H264, H264, DTS, DD, AC3 etc). No transcoding, Just DirectPlay and so far so good.
But looks like for Music playback, Plex is using some other type of Player, which honestly, sucks. Is there a way to force Plex to use Exoplayer 2 for Music as well? Or, get the issues with the current music player fixed?
Issues? What issues? -
Well, I have quite a bit of DTS Music files. Some in .dts (raw?), some in a .wav and some in a .mka container.
None of the DTS music plays in Plex without being transcoded to AAC. It just doesn't work. (on the contrary, if I try the same on Kodi, it just works Flawless. But I don't want Kodi, I need Plex!)
Now, if I take the DTS audio stream and encapsulate it within some video container, then it plays perfectly fine. But I cannot be converting all my Music into Video files. That's not going to happen.
So why is that Plex music is not able to handle the DTS, but for Videos it has not problem DTS or whatever. Must be the player itself right? So either we need to have Exoplayer v2 play music as well, or get the current Music player fixed. I just don't wanna keep switching to Kodi for Music. If Kodi is the only way, then I might as well switch my entire library (including video) to Kodi - which I really don't wanna do.
My Setup:
Nvidia Shield + USB DAC (Creative SB0490) + Logitech Z5500 over SPDIF (Passthrough settings enabled on Shield, Plex).
Nvidia Shield + TV over HDMI
Any help to fix this nightmare please?
