how to set up remote access via wired connection

I am able to set up plex for remote access via wirlesss. However when I disable wireless on my computer and hard wire the internet , the plex application says that remote access " is not available outside of local network.

Both wireless and hard wired go through the same router so I do not get it.
I wanted hard wired to improve the performance.

Any suggestions would be appreciated
