In a browser, netflix pauses, in the app, it *crashes*.
I've seen various topics about the Netflix plugin/channel, some going back to a long string of comments on the original annoucement. I don't seem to be able to find a single place where one can look at this plugin and it's "known issues".Doing a search of the forum doesn't seem to give me consistent results either, so I'm going to post here and hope.
I've been using Plex for two years. I'm a Plexpass lifetime member. I would pay more money for a working netflix plugin. I would rather do this than have to purchase an Apple TV or a Roku box.
Netflix has been one of the worst experiences I've had with Plex. Some of it has been due to API changes on their end, supposedly? I don't know how this is, considering the number of devices out there with a baked-in API (like the wii streaming discs, not exactly upgradable).
At the moment, when using a browser, netflix will randomly pause. I've google searched around, and lots of people are finding this annoyance -- could be due to server overload, upstream throttling, whatever. It doesn't seem to be geographically limited, nor unique to a specific class of service.
When playing netflix in Plex, however, I've never experienced a random pause. Things simply crash (taking out both the netflix plugin and the plex media server). This seems too eerily coincidental, and I suspect that the plugin isn't handling a "server side pause" very well.
Is there any merit to this theory?
