Hey Folks
I'm having a consistent, irritating issue playing video media on my Samsung UN65JU650D. The video will stop and PLEX will display the "There seems to be a problem" / "Play could not render this content..." What confuses me is how isolated the issue is to this particular device, and how the device only has an issue with PLEX. The playback problems I'm having are with MP4 (SD and 1080p) media, but to be honest I haven't done a lot of testing yet with different files since the same files can be played on other players (including 2 nearly identical Samsung TVs) without any problems.
A little background:
- PMS Version 1.0.0.2261 / FreeBSD (on FreeNAS)
- Player Version 2.005 on Samsung
The hardware is completely adequate (8 core / 16MB RAM), but frankly getting into hardware seems like a red herring because all my other players work perfectly fine:
Android
Kindle Fire TV
- Roku
- PS3 / PS4
- 2 Samsung UN40JU650D TVs (essentially the same set as the one that won't work, just a smaller screen)
Additionally, the problem device (UN65JU650D) - hard wired - streams content from other apps (e.g. Amazon, Netflix) without any issues. The TV has worked with PLEX previously. It's been working, in fact, for nearly a year without problems and only recently (past week or so) started giving me trouble.
So far, I've:
- Deleted the app (v 2.005) and restarted / reinstalled.
- Reset the entire SmartHub, deleted the app, unplugged the TV, and restarted / reinstalled.
- Tried a different user
- Attempted transcoding options, but they didn't change the results. I've since left the player at all the defaults after the re-install (the same settings as the other Samsung TVs that work).
I'd appreciate any pointers to help identify the source of the problem. As it turns out, my 65" Samsung is the device I wish to use PLEX on most of all! :\
