I've noticed that my Plex server is not picking up the genre tag and/or artwork (and maybe more metadata) for a number of my MP3 albums. The data has generally been written by MediaMonkey. I'm sure it is in the metadata of all of the tracks in the albums. Windows Media player sees it OK, as do iTunes, Windows file Manager and (from the little I can see) the QNAP File station.
I finally decided to try bringing up a Plex Server on a Windows 10 PC and, lo, it finds the metadata too. It's looking at the same files (on a QNAP share) as the QNAP Plex server.
As far as I can tell, both Plex servers are set up the same, including to use embedded tags where present and with "Local Media Assets" at the top of every list I can find it in.
I've tried removing the source music folders from the QNAP Plex library and re-adding them to force a ground-up rescan, but it made no difference.
I've 14356 tracks in 1052 albums in both libraries. Of those 1052, I reckon that the QNAP server is missing artwork for about 40 albums. And I reckon that it is only finding genre tags for 932 of them (ie if I filer by genre, but select them all, that is how many albums it then shows me. The windows version isn't prefect in that respect - it seems only to find genres for 1048 albums).
Anyone got any ideas why the QNAP Plex server is missing stuff? I'm running Version 1.0.3.2461
