All my Movies and Series got no sound till the latest Update i tested multiple device friends too. Plex please fix it

I recently installed a VPN in my case CyberGhost VPN.  When it was activated I could no longer publish my server.  I searched far and wide for a solution, but could not find out how to exclude a port from a VPN.  It can be done with an IP address, but could not find instructions to exclude a port even with OpenVPN.  I was in Plex chat trying to help someone else with the same problem. He was using Private Internet Access and got a list of ports not forwarded by his VPN.  I remembered that my VPN did not run outgoing email through it's servers to prevent spammers from using their service to send anonymous email.  I set the Plex Server to use Port 110 and now it works when my VPN is running!  I did not even have to port forward the port.  You need to have advanced settings selected in your server settings and be in the MyPlex section to see the option to select a port. if you specify Manually specify port. then you won't even have to port forward the port though using port forwarding is still recommended.   Just add TCP port 110 to the list of Ports to Forward in your modem/router setup.  There may be a side benefit to this.  You may gain access to your server from work where many ports are blocked.  To date this has only been tested with CyberGhost VPN and Private Internet Access, but most VPN's should have a list of ports that do not run through the VPN.  if you get it working with a different VPN please post and say what port you used. Note: Changing the port to 110 does not effect the port Plex uses on your local LAN it is always 32400.

I have a QNAP 453mini with Plex 1.10.1.4561 installed manually through the QNAP UI. LiveTV works file but recording does not work.

When I scheduled a show to record, I get the following error in the logs:

This took me forever to set up properly, so I figured I'd share it.
For now just the basic outline. If have questions on a detail ask and I can answer.
First my set-up:

• Windows 10 64 bit with Fall Creators Update
• GeForce GTX 960
• 2016 LG OLED TV

The basic ingredients are these. Note I always used 64 bit versions of everything.

• Kodi DSPlayer, I used 17.6, 64 bit
• Plex for Kodi add-on, I used 0.1.3
• LAV Filters, I used 0.70.2
• MadVR, I used v0.92.10

Basic steps:
1. Install everything listed above.
2. Replace Kodi DSPlayer's internal filters with the external ones: copy all the files files from C:\Program Files (x86)\LAV Filters\x64 to C:\Program Files\Kodi\system\players\dsplayer\LAVFilters, replacing files at the destination.
3. Disable stereoscopic 3D in the nVidia control panel. With the current drivers, enabling it causes crashes in madVR when Direct3D 11 is enabled and it goes full screen.
4. I have HDR and Advanced Color disabled in the Windows 10 display settings. MadVR enables it during playback as needed, and it makes the desktop look bad when it's on.
5. In Plex for Kodi Settings, enable HEVC streaming.
6. On the LG OLED TV settings, disable Screen Shift. This setting shifts the image around by 1 pixel every few minutes, which will result in the line-interlaced image output by madVR not being aligned with the FPR (3D filter), which results in the left and right eyes being swapped. Note this will increase the risk of image retention.
7. MadVR settings (just the required stuff, other settings you should probably mess with, lots of other guides on that):

• rendering -> general settings: Use Direct3D 11 for presentation (required for 10-bit color output)
• rendering -> stereo 3D: enable stereo 3D playback. Leave everything else unchecked.
• Devices -> -> properties: the native display bitdepth is 10 bit or higher (required for 10-bit color output).
• Devices -> -> properties: 3D format is Line Alternative (this works for passive displays like LG OLEDs, not for any other kind of display)
• Devices -> -> hdr: passthrough HDR content to the display, and send HDR metadata to the display

There is nothing wrong with the network connection (i've disabled my firewall and av, just to be sure), and it also happens when i try to add it locally.

As the title says, is there a way to prevent Plex/Web from lazy loading content in a section. It is annoying to scroll to the end of the movie list (using gestures on a trackpad) only for P/W to load more and the scrollbar to jump up... You never really know how far through the list you currently are, and that is one of the functions of the scrollbar - show you the relative position within the list.

I know it creates enormous amounts of concurrent requests to load everything at the same time, but maybe just load the empty frame of the list so the scrollbars work as they should, and load the thumbnails/covers on demand (as is is now).

It is frustrating to look for e.g. a movie whose name you don't know, you just remember the poster... it takes ages to go through the list, and you can't even scroll to the end of the list or any specific position, as the last items aren't loaded until you reach the end of the currently displayed list (Page Down and End buttons also don't work as expected in these lists - you can't go to the end)

Is there any way to configure/hack the amount of loaded items

So, this is gonna be a bit of a rant but it DOES have a point.
Plex - especially after pushing Plex Pass so hard - must begin to take it's customers more seriously. That means YES you DO have to acknowledge issues with your product running on new OSes such as when Apple updates to tvOS11 or iOS11 or even High Sierra. Yes, you SHOULD take responsibility for bugs and provide a bug tracker WITH estimated times of repair of bugs. ...and YES you SHOULD be getting pre-release versions of Apple Software and testing your product on them, then release fixes WHEN Apple releases final GM's of said products. This is business. Do it!
...here's a big one: NO, you should NOT become iTunes + iPhoto all-in-one. Fix what you have out in the wild, THEN add features.
I am an iOS/tvOS developer myself. I'VE had access to all the software for MONTHS! I got lucky. My software required very few fixes - but Plex is in the middle of a huge debacle with iOS and tvOS right now. There are a lot of things that are broken and many need fixes. STOP branching out and doing photos, live tv, etc if you can't make the original product work!

Since upgrading the client app to version 2.009 the audio selection does not work anymore.

Independent of the audio selection always the first audio track within the MKV container is used. The issue seems to be related to the Samsung client as on other clients (Android, Web/Browser) the selection works as expected.

My settings are:
Hardware: BD-H6500 (2014 modell)
Client: 2.009
PMS: 1.9.4.4325-1bf24oa65 running on a QNAP NAS

Since about two or three weeks ago my Plex server has been acting weird. Before I could be running my VPN (PIA) and still use Plex locally (through my own wifi network on any device) just fine. But lately any time I run my VPN, Plex won't let me access my server on my network. If I turn the VPN on or off the change is instantaneous. I am running Plex server on OS X 10.11.6 (on a hackintosh) and primarily using Plex media player on my Apple TV 4 in the living room but it also won't work on my phone, ipad, etc. I have not changed any settings or anything recently and have no idea what's going on. I am not worried about remote access (outside my network) as I am aware that that doesn't work through a VPN without some extra elbow grease but I am perplexed as to why all of a sudden it is not working locally as it did before. If anyone has a similar issue or any idea on something I could try to do to fix it I would appreciate it. I did a google search and came up with nothing relevant. Thanks in advance!

I've been reading through this thread but I'm still stuck. I can see (I think) that ATV is trying to connect through PlexConnect, but I'm not seeing anything actually come through on the ATV. i.e. it's stuck with only two icons on the homescreen.

I have setup the certificate and the ATV is set to the ip of PMS (192.168.0.205).

Any advice would be great. Plex is running fine on the server, I can connect to it from other PCs on the network and I can also connect via my devices. Except ATV of course.

I smacked a tool together to repair MKV files more easily for personal use.

If you can use it, have a go at it.

Installation instructions:

It's a Windows tool only.

- Make sure you have installed .Net framework 4.0 or get it here

- Download and install the latest MKVToolNix from here

- Unzip the attached file to a folder and run OrcasMKVFix.exe from there.

- Browse to the folder where you installed MKVToolNix (normally  C:\Program Files (x86)\MKVToolNix or C:\Program Files\MKVToolNix)

- Press the button next to video folder to point to where your videos are located, e voila, you're good to go.

So what does it do?

-Repair broken MKV files that don't play on a Samsung device

The most import task is to fix MKV files that will not play on a Samsung device. (symptom :Movie starts, shows a swirling loader icon, then returns to the home screen)

It will not fix every possible problem, it will just remove some attributes that have been added with later version of MKV. That should normally be enough to get them to run.

Just select the checkbox in front of the file(s) that does not want to play and hit the "Repair selected" button.

After a while the icon should turn into a "thumbs-up" icon and the file has been fixed.

If you look in the location of the file, there should be 3 files now:

-  The original file, it is renamed to ".bkp"

-  An empty file named ".fixed" to indicate the file was already processed (this is what makes it show a "thumbs-up")

- The fixed file will have the original name ".mkv"

Note: you can disable keeping backups in the menu of the tool, but don't blame me if your movie gets garbled!

- Get Media info from a file

Right click on a file and either select Show MediaInfo or Show MKVInfo to list the information.

This can be handy if you are running into problem and we need you to supply the mediainfo for the file.

- Extract Internal subtitles from a movie to create external subtitles

MKV files often have the subtitles embedded inside the movie. However not all Samsung Models are able to display them by default.

External subtitles are supported on all models, so this will enable you to still enjoy those subtitles.

Select the MKV files that you want to extract subtitles from. The file should have a number behind it, indicating the number of subtitles inside the file.

Click the "Extract subtitles" button and wait until it is done. Now re-run the library scan on your PMS and you will now have the subtitles available as external ones.

Note: This only works for .srt files. The external subtitle engine of the app doesn't support anything else.

Additional Notes:

- This tool comes with no support what so ever, if it works for you that's great, if not, i'm sorry, use something else.

- There is no guarantee this will fix your problem, but then again you have nothing to loose either.

- Don't go wild on the repair options, if it ain't broken don't fix it! Some perfect playing files may not work after a "fix".

- Don't worry, the original files stay untouched so, you can try different things. To restore them, just rename them from ".bkp" to ".mkv" again.

- Start with the first three default options, they are usually enough to make the file work again.

I am having a heck of a time getting Plex to find all my TV shows. I have tried all the renaming techniques I've read about in the forums, bought and used FileBot, etc. I've tried using s01e01 and also 1x01 as episode identifiers. I've tried keeping all the shows in one folder, and also tried sorting the shows into sub folders named Season 01, Season 02, etc. I've tried using, and not using, hyphens. Presently, my structure for the show Matlock, for which I have 145 episodes, is like shown in the attached screen grabs. Even after having deleted the TV Shows library and recreated it from scratch, Plex is only finding 86 episodes. What am I missing?

After coming here to troubleshoot about the never ending spinning circle, seeing the total lack of response from Plex, and the sticky from them about Xbox 360 no longer being supported, I think it's safe to assume Plex is screwed for me.
What are the alternatives to Plex? I know Chromecast is an option.

Really need help. Plex wont play HEVC h.265 .mkv remux files from my pc to plex app via roku stick+? When I try to play the file on my LG oled tv in another room on Roku stick+ plex app, it says video is unavailable, please check server. File is there, plays on my pc??? What am I doing wrong, is this not supported yet?

Ou sinon améliorer l'UPNP de Plex avec la Freebox car il bug énormément quand je passe par la Freebox Player (Bug d'affichage des films voir impossible de charger la liste, impossible de passez une vidéo donc obliger de remettre au début si on stop la vidéo)

Et une autre question es t'il possible d'ajouter les chaîne de Freebox TV sur Plex (Je c'est que c'est possible via VLC de lire les chaines Freebox donc pour Plex sa devrait être techniquement possible non ?

my 5th gen Intel NUC isnt able to play 4k content to mny Sony Bravia X9005C. I love the NUC because its so tiny, power efficient (only 15Watts) and silent.

Thas why im looking for a new NUC.

So... Does anyone alredy have experience with the new 7th gen core intel NUC products? I want to choose the i5-Version like this:

Does 4k Content (x264 and x265) plays smooth without framedrops?

As a Prime customer, I've started to take advantage of the unlimited photo storage with Amazon. But I'm frustrated as, other than screen-casting, I can't seem to find a way to view these photos on TV. Is there no Plex channel, either official or unofficial, that can perform this function. My house is basically Rokus on every TV, so an alternative would be a Roku app for this, but there doesn't appear to be one. I do see something in the Roku channel store called "Picta," which costs a little bit. I wouldn't mind paying if I knew it would work, but still -- can't believe no one's created an a channel for viewing photos store on Amazon.

I've got the Plex app version 3.2.20-25990c77 (5/10/2017) running on my old Surface 2 and it crashes every time I minimize the window. Is this a known bug?

To the point, I paid the one-time payment fee and I am still getting the pop-up to pay again. Shouldn't this be good throughout my account? I was under the impression I would not have to pay on every device I want to steam movies using plex.
